Power has returned to the 18,000 homes and business affected by an equipment malfunction at a substation in Wappinger, according to Central Hudson.

A transmission line supplying electricity to Southern Dutchess and Putnam county went offline. John Maserjian, Central Hudson spokesman, said power was mostly restored for those in the area within seven minutes but restored for all within two hours.

Customers affected were in Beacon, Wappinger, Fishkill, East Fishkill, Village of Fishkill, Cold Spring, Nelsonville and Philipstown.

"We believe all customers are back on," Maserjian said.
