Guidelines
- Press release content must be newsworthy. Some examples are: a new business opening, an award received, new president or ownership, new company initiative, or business relocation or expansion. However, the blog is not the place to post advertising content (for example a one-day sale or special promotions).
- The blog will accept press releases of businesses celebrating anniversaries in 5 year increments (5, 10, 15, etc...). These press releases should include informational background about the company, business address, and details about the owners involved in its success.
- The headline should include the name of the business, and the basic news about it. (For example, "Pat's Widget Outlet opens second location in Great Kills.") Type the item in the "Body" field.
- The report should clearly give the information that's of interest to the public, in a fact-based manner.
- The name and title of the business owner or manager should clearly be stated in the report.
- Contact information is required so the public can get in touch. A phone number is required.
- Our format does not currently allow for photos to be uploaded directly into entries. Businesses may, however, submit photos through the comment section once a post has been approved. (We are exploring improvements to the presentation.)
- Items that are excessively promotional, or read like a sales pitch, will not be considered for publication.
