Somebunny Loves Me
This special hardcover book was written by Emmy-winning singer-songwriter Parry Gripp. It is packed full with amazing photos of pets and their owners. Lots of lovable photos of dogs, cats, lizards, fish, rabbits, and other animals. Each animal has a cute poem about them and how to care for them.
Who’s Who in the Bible
This book covers places and people that are mentioned in the Bible. Included is a photograph and a brief explanation or list of important facts relating to that person or place of interest.
Starting with Adam and Eve and the Garden of Eden and continuing through the apostle’s ministries, this book high lights all the stories we all learned growing up. There is also an index with an alphabetical listing for other names not listed in the pages.
A Seed is the Start
This book teaches all about the life of a seed and how all plants start with a seed. It covers the plant cycle from seed to maturity. Beautiful images of plants and seeds and a great deal of information about how seeds travel all around the world. Award-winning author, Melissa Stewart, shares the magic of spring through the life of a seed.
100 Ways to Make the World Better
A packed paperback book written for children between the ages of 8 and about 12. It answers the question, Who says kids can’t change the world? With a little support and enough drive, there are a lot of things (at least 100 as listed in this book) that tweens can do to change the world.
Starting with a list of 100 ways to make a difference in the world around you, this book shares ideas and suggestions to get you started. Some are as simple as being friendly and helping someone as an act of kindness, to more involved events that would take support, time and work.
My Thoughts:
Who doesn’t smile and want to snuggle a fluffy bunny? In Some Bunny Loves Me, we have learned about animals and how to care for them.
Not only does this book have pages and pages of pictures that make you go awe…it also teaches kids how how to be good pet owners.
As a parent, I think I enjoyed reading Who’s Who in the Bible more than my little ones. We spend time daily reading the Bible but the children still come up with questions about people and places that I can’t answer off the top of my head. Now we have a book to reference that covers the characters and places that are found in most of our studies. I also like that there is an index in the back of the book that covers more names not mentioned in pages. Being able to quickly find the answers to questions helps to keep the little ones engaged in their studies.
We are discussing plants and what we want to grow in the garden this year. Reading A Seed is the Start has explained why we have found plants growing in strange places around the property, such as a stalk of corn in a second story gutter!
Our family has a non-profit that helps low income families in our county so our children are used to spending time helping others. In 100 Ways to Make the World Better, it was nice to read how the author points out that children can and do make a difference in the world around them. Even in the little things like baking cookies and visiting with the seniors at church or in the nursing home, children need to know that others are lonely and their smiles and kind words will make a difference in that person’s day.
While these books by National Geographic are written specifically for kids, they are packed with so much information and beautiful photographs that I have enjoyed reading them as much as the children.
