This Program is for BC-based tech/tech-enabled startups and entrepreneurs who:
Are ready to launch or have already launched and are working on their fundraising and/or launch strategy**
Startups that are actively raising or intend to raise within the next 12 months
**Not limited to those raising from investors, this can include, e.g., crowdfunding and non-equity fundraising
WHY INVESTMENT READINESS?
Investment Readiness prepares your company not just for fundraising from investors, but also helps you to prepare to launch and/or scale. Whether you are earlier stage and looking for expert advising on validation, sales, and marketing, or you are actively raising and need help with due diligence, this program is for you. The three components of this program are: Startup Business Advising, Pitch & Presention Masterclass, and BC Startup Showcases.
This program offers advising to help accelerate your business, and get you market and investment ready. Based on the your goals and needs, you will be matched to one of Volition's experienced advisors who will work with you to identify gaps and bring focus and alignment to your business. If selected, you will be eligible for up to five advising sessions.
STARTUP BUSINESS ADVISING
PITCH & PRESENTATION MASTERCLASS
A lecture-style pitch masterclass designed for entrepreneurs interested in learning the basics on how to build and deliver an investor pitch that is clear, concise, and compelling.
BC STARTUP SHOWCASE
BC Startup Showcase is an event showcasing six startups who will present their investor pitch and receive strategic pitch feedback from industry leaders from the Canadian startup ecosystem. In 2022, Volition will host three public pitch events showcasing startups from across B.C.
BONUS: All pitch applicants will receive one pitch coaching session.
While programming will be open to all entrepreneurs in the province, priority will be given to historically marginalized and underrepresented groups in the startup ecosystem. As well, at least fifty percent of funding has been dedicated to support and advance entrepreneurs who identify within the intersectional spectrum of womanhood.

The Discovery Foundation, a registered charity founded in 1979, is committed to facilitating the inclusive development and sustainability of BC’s technology sector. In 2010 the Discovery Foundation launched the Technology Education Program, which funds agent-run programs and events across BC that serve to promote and accelerate tech entrepreneurship in the province.
Volition is an advisory firm that builds capacity, connectivity, and knowledge within the global startup ecosystem by providing tailored coaching and content for entrepreneurs and the organizations that support them.
We know that a strong business is one that can adapt, refine and consistently grow. We provide you and your team or community with the tools to develop and overcome every hurdle along the way. When you work with Volition, you aren’t paired with a single Advisor, but instead with a team of specialized experts that work together to cover your bases.
