Verrazano-Narrows Bridge will shut down at 11 p.m. due to Blizzard of 2015

The Verrazano-Narrows Bridge

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - The Verrazano-Narrows Bridge will shut down at 11 p.m. Monday as the city awaits the brunt of the Blizzard of 2015, a Metropolitan Transportation Authority spokeswoman has confirmed.

The bridge will only be accessible to emergency personnel, and will be closed until further notice, MTA spokeswoman Judie Glave told the Advance.

Earlier Monday evening, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey announced that all its bridges and tunnels, including the Bayonne Bridge, Goethals Bridge and Outerbridge Crossing, will shut down at 11 p.m. as well.

The closings came after Mayor Bill de Blasio and Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced a travel ban after 11 p.m. for all non-emergency vehicles.
