Crankie Curiosities w/ Marian McLaughlin. Curious about crankies? Crankies are the original moving pictures; a form of visual performance, involving a cranked scroll of artwork in a box. During this 3 part series workshop, mixed media artist Marian McLaughlin guides you through the process of crafting your own multi-dimensional storytelling device with acrylic paint on fibrous Tyvek paper scrolls. Through crafting crankies, engage in visual, kinetic, and narrative concepts. And then take home a miniature crankie box of your own creation! Prompts are available, or come prepared with a simple story or song to base your crankie on. Community Tahitian Dance. Eastern Shore Sea Glass & Coastal Arts Festival. A fun-filled tradition since 2010, the Eastern Shore Sea Glass & Coastal Arts Festival highlights artisans and craftspeople who come from near and far to exhibit and sell coastal and sea glass related jewelry, home décor, art, and more. Westminster Wine Stroll. Enjoy a tasting of local wines at this Sip, Shop & Stroll event as Main Street transforms into a Wine Mart with local wineries, wine-related vendors, and delectable bites from food vendors and local establishments. Lock House Beer and Wine Festival. The Lock House Craft Beer & Wine Festival is back again for its 6th year and brings together some of the best beer and wine, music, crafts, and food in one fun event! Mr. Trash Wheel’s 10th Anniversary: A Night at the Trashseum. An evening of art, artifacts, and trashion! Celebrate 10 years of Mr. Trash Wheel with Waterfront Partnership at a one-of-a-kind, not to be missed event! This family-friendly event will celebrate Earth Day and Mr. Trash Wheel’s birthday with an evening of art, artifacts and trashion with activities including entry to the Trashseum, a living litter sculpture garden by Fluid Movement, a DIY "trashion” crafting station, and more! Mr. Trash Wheel's Trashseum will feature a never-before-seen collection of special artifacts from the past decade including an interactive model of the Mr. Trash Wheel prototype, litteral garbage collected by Mr. Trash Wheel, and celebrations of Mr. Trash Wheel accolades. Adult Prom: Through the Decades. Adult Prom at the Zoo is back! Dust off your old prom outfit, dance the night away to your favorite throwback songs, and embrace the nostalgia! Ghost Rivers Walking Tour. A lunchtime walking tour of Baltimore's ghost rivers! Ghost Rivers is a neighborhood-spanning, multi-site public art installation and walking tour by artist Bruce WIllen that visualizes a lost stream buried below the streets of Baltimore. Through a series of installations, wayfinding markers, and writings, Ghost Rivers reveals a hidden path of the creek Sumwalt Run, bringing its lost landscapes and histories to the surface. Grown Up Field Trip: Jurassic Party. Welcome to… Jurassic Party! Hang onto your butts, this is going to be the best party of the geologic era! Roam the exhibit halls with your herd and dig into some dinosaur themed games and science challenges at the Science Center's Jurassic Park themed Grown Up Field Trip. Step into the role of an Isla Nublar scientist and see if you've got what it takes to successfully extract strands of genetic code. Design your own baby dinosaur with Mr. DNA, plus more dino-sized surprises. St. Michaels Wine Fest. WineFest at St. Michaels and The Old Brick Inn host exclusive wine-tasting weekends featuring small-production wines from popular producers worldwide. The tastings focus on wines that are in high demand, but not easily found either online or in area retail stores. Events held at The Old Brick Inn Inn in historic St. Michaels are known for attracting discerning wine enthusiasts who are looking for unique and exciting wines to try and purchase. The tasting format will be a “wine tour” of some of the very best wine-producing regions of Italy, Bordeaux, Burgundy, Spain, California, Oregon, and South Africa. Each day there will be two groups attending two separate tastings, that’s 4 sessions total! Around 10-12 wines tasted each session. Come join for a weekend of tasting fine wines along with learning about specifics of terroir, weather, cultivation techniques and harvest/vinification. Event will feature some surprise guests to offer their expertise in guiding you through the perspective of how the same grapes can produce such different wines. Teddy Bear Pajama Party. Brown Bear, Brown Bear, what do you see? Brown Bear sees children and their families stomping on catapults to pack a teddy bear picnic, helping little lost bears find their way home in an eco-sensory exploration, gazing up at the stars in the planetarium, playing through the Maryland Science Center’s exhibit halls, and searching high and low for Brown Bear’s friends—Red Bird, Green Frog, Blue Horse and more! A light snack will be provided; you are welcomed to bring additional food and snacks which can be consumed in the café. This event is designed for children ages 8 and under, and their families. Bring Back Sunday Dinners: Great Greens! Join Y.M.U. Yummy U! in partnership with the Creative Alliance for an afternoon of food, fellowship and community dining. In each session, Doc. J will lead cooking demonstrations showcasing a featured ingredient or theme and collaborate with participants to create a full community meal. 32nd Street Farmers' Market (year-round). The Waverly Farmers Market is more than a source of good food, it’s also the Charles Village social event of the week.
