The Perfect Weekend

It was one of those perfect weekends where you don’t make any plans and the next second you’re out exploring your town and trying out new things.  Saturday I went to my very first Cinespia held at the Hollywood Forever Cemetary. I have to admit, I was not sure how I felt about watching a movie in a cemetery surrounded by tombstones. It is an odd mixture of fascination, excitement and creepiness. We settled in on an open grassy slot (free of tombstones) and pulled out a full-blown picnic (complete with 8 bottles of wine for 8 people.) Cinespia has been around for 15 years and I am glad that I experienced something so LA. I need to do these kinds of things more often! Any recommendations for events like this?

Afterwards, we headed to the Dresden, a historic Hollywood bar that doesn’t look like it’s changed a bit since it opened in 1954.  The band that night was great. They played all the classics including Frank Sinatra.

The next morning, Liz and I went to breakfast at our usual place, Le Pain Quotidien and ended up chatting there for almost 3 hours. I guess you could say we had a lot to catch up on. We did manage to get a bit of blog work done before heading to visit friends at Le Petit Ermitage.

What started out as lunch turned into lounging by the pool for a few hours. We ended the day with dinner on the rooftop pool deck as we watched the sun set. It was like a mini stay-cation with no concrete plans and I loved it. I am definitely looking forward to a few more of those this summer!

For the look I am wearing in today’s post, there is a bit of a French Mediterranean vibe going on with the boater hat and ribbon choker. I loved the combination with the navy crop top and my favorite floral skirt (seen numerous times before here and here.)

Shop my Look:

top: Cotton On | skirt: Bloomingdales | heels: Steve Madden (old) | bag: Forever21 | hat: Boardwalk Style | choker: ribbon from a craft store

    1. Hi Sophie!
Same, floral patterns are hit or miss for me, too. But this one was definitely a winner!
      Thanks for reading,
      Laura
