"The real miracle is not to walk either on water
or in thin air, but to walk on earth." -Thich Nhat Hanh

Dear Team,

The renowned Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting has awarded me a grant. This will allow me to travel back to Varanasi, India, where I'll write about the Ganges River from a variety of perspectives. Click the title below to read an essay I wrote from Varanasi in 2013:

Of Death & Double-Legs

For two years I've been submitting proposals to (by that I mean getting rejected by) the Pulitzer Center because I believed their investigative work into important but under-reported global stories aligned with what I've done and what I want to do as a writer.
This grant comes at a time of transition for me. As I'm now based in the Greater Philadelphia area and teaching at Penn State Brandywine, it allows me to keep one foot firmly in the realm of human rights journalism without needing to sacrifice my time in the classroom.
