Currently seeking a talented individual to fill the role of Gear Development Engineer Auburn Hills, MI.
The position responsibilities include the following:
•Design and Develop Hypoid, Helical and Bevel Gears to customer requirements for strength and NVH
•Coordinate, and procurement of all necessary work-holding and cutter tooling for gear developments
•Understand gear geometry and gear manufacturing procedures and tolerances
•Quality and Statistical data collection and analysis
•Expediting part processing through internal and external sources
•Program scheduling and updating project database
•Coordination of gear development lab activities including: Developments, Research activities, Training, Customer visits, Inspection services
•Support plant PIP and cost reduction initiatives
•Develop and implement best practices and standards
•Plant manufacturing and quality support including PPAP and new product launch at domestic and international facilities.
•Travel as necessary ( up to 30%) to other manufacturing facilities, vendors and suppliers, meetings, conferences, training and shows, both domestically and internationally
•Must be able to use various computer systems and gear software programs as necessary to complete job functions
•Work closely with Product, Test and NVH Engineers
•Hands on gear machine development desirable
•Cut, Lap and test parts for various prototype programs using the Gear Lab cutting, lapping and Single Flank test machines.
•Proficient in operating and setting up Gleason/Oerlikon cutting, lapping, CMM and Single Flank test machines.
•Ensure timely completion of all project objectives
•Be able to write detailed technical reports
•Have a valid driver license for travel and vehicle evaluations
•Have a positive attitude, quick learner and a team player with diverse ideas and viewpoints
•Must be able to read blue prints and interpret specifications.
