Built in 1921 for the oil heiress and art patron Aline Barnsdall, Hollyhock House was Frank Lloyd Wright's first Los Angeles project and a marked break from his acclaimed Prairie Style. The negotiations between client and architect, who had a sometimes-fraught yet ultimately productive relationship, shaped a building that became one of the most expressive examples of California's regional design. Hollyhock House curator Abbey Chamberlain Brach leads this don't-miss virtual home tour—our final program for Art Deco Weekend!—and explores the history of the house and its remarkable legacy.
