Prince Harry is the one who wants to move to Africa, according to the UK tabloids

Prince Harry and members of the Royal Family attend the Easter Sunday service at Windsor Castle, Windsor. 21 April 2019.

As we discussed earlier, there was a huge story in the Sunday Times of London about how “palace officials” and Prince William are increasingly concerned about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s popularity. They’re concerned Meghan and Harry will overshadow the other royals (mainly William and Kate) and they’re concerned because Brand Sussex is global. Meaning, Harry and Meghan are interesting to people around the world. So those palace officials have been considering sending Meghan and Harry away, out of the country. Australia and Canada were nixxed because, the palace courtiers reasoned, it would be too much like giving Harry and Meghan their country to “rule.” So the idea is that the Sussexes might be forcibly exiled to Africa. Only now the British tabloids are trying to make it sound like Harry and Meghan want this (they do not) and that it will cost a ton of money anyway:

Fears have been raised over the cost to the taxpayer of keeping Prince Harry and his wife Meghan safe during any ‘secondment’ to Africa. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are reportedly considering a ‘sabbatical’ overseas, possibly in Botswana or South Africa, to work on behalf of the Commonwealth and charity engagements.

The Government and the Palace will open talks about the scope of any role Harry takes up and who will pay for the costs of the trip. But concerns have already been raised that keeping the royal couple and their new baby safe in Africa will put a strain on the royal protection budget of the Metropolitan Police.

The cost of the SO14 unit who protect the Royal Family has been estimated at around £130million, although experts say looking after the Sussexes in Africa could cost an extra £1million. That would include any extra pay for the officers sent to Africa with the couple, as well as their medical, insurance, travel and accommodation costs. The secondment could take the form of a six-month trip, or four months a year for two years.

Botswana, where the couple spent Meghan’s 36th birthday in 2017, and Malawi have been put forward as possible temporary homes, as well as South Africa, with each country having its own security issues.

[From The Daily Mail]

Just to be 100% clear, the story on Sunday was that Will & Kate were so distraught at the Sussexes’ popularity that they were working with palace officials on some kind of scheme to exile the Sussexes. 24 hours later, the story has been twisted to “Harry and Meghan want a sabbatical in Africa.” Bitches, we see you. We see ALL of your racist AF shenanigans. How did this sh-t change over the course of like 10 hours? Was it because William’s fingerprints were all over the original story and it made William look petty AF? Probably. But now all of the reporters are acting like Harry is the one who wants to live in Africa, and they’re bashing him for wanting to spend that kind of money. Riiight.

Yeah now the story is changing quickly from it was supposed to be a years long thing to now only a few months or just an extended tour. A huge mess.

    • SarSte says:

Such a mess! And the reference to extreme tax payer burden, with the “blame” suddenly resting with Harry because it’s all his idea. Please.

I believe all of this but what seems so myopic to me is that the Cambridges won’t have any one to dump events on (because they haven’t radically changed their ways, let’s be real). Plus, Brexit looms large – ol’ Bill & Cathy would do well to have some likeable allies to support them as ambassadors through the possible rocky days/months/years ahead, not kicking it in Africa or… like, Saskatchewan or something (IMAGINE lol).

      • Millenial says:

Yeah, I don’t think Will and Kate are playing the long game very well here at all. History won’t be kind, and let’s face it, it’s not like at 40 they are both magically going to learn to work. They think they can make the public forget the “lazy” narrative if they demonize Meghan (and by extension Harry, too), but they would actually have to stop being lazy, which will never happen.

      • Ader says:

        The Royals of Regina!

      • M says:

I’m from Saskatchewan so I’m really laughing that you said that. We’d take them, gladly.

    • Himmiefan says:

I think the story changed when they realized how bad it made Will and the palace look.

      • Bluthfan says:

Exactly. The Cambridges didn’t realize that planting a story about sending the black princess to Africa to live would make them look terrible. Once they realized the story was hurting the Cambridges, they shifted it to blame Harry as always.

      • Skipper says:

I don’t think they have the power to do this . It would have to be the Queen or Charles who decided on this course of action

    • Digital Unicorn says:

Total back peddling by PR genius William – the backlash has made him look like the petty racist b!tch he is.

I hope we become a republic after Chuck as I do NOT want twit and twat on the throne – William would be a disaster for the country and the Monarchy. Surely TQ and Charles can see this – in order for House Windsor to survive something needs to be done about his attitude. His sudden desire to be King has nothing to do with acceptance of his birthright and more about asserting his dominance over his brother and pregnant SIL.

      • Montrealaise says:

William reminds me of Edward VIII, who abdicated the throne to marry Wallis Simpson and became the Duke of Windsor – he loved the perks and privileges that his position gave him, but hated the responsibilities that went with it. His father, George V, was under no illusions about what his eldest son was like – he openly told his courtiers that he hoped Edward would abdicate so that his younger brother, who had a real sense of duty and responsibility, could take over and his daughter Elizabeth would eventually become queen (which is what happened).

  2. Monicack says:

The rf has used sub-Saharan Africa for suffer porn photo ops and glamping for decades. All of them. If you point out the “good” they’ve done you’re proving my point.

    • MrsBump says:

      +1
Wealthy westerners hugging poor black African kids for photo ops riles me up every time.

Any good they remotely participate in during the 30 mins visits, is paid back tenfold by the good PR they receive in the west for their “charity work”.

I for one, hopes that Harry, his wife and the rest of his family stay in their own country, and do good for their taxpayers

    • Monicack says:

      MrsB.
Don’t get me started on what colonial conditions caused the problems in the first place.

My 4th great grandfather’s 3rd wife used to brag about being the only plantation mistress to insist that her slaves learn to read and write. She’s also been relegated to sainthood because she whipped and sold the slave who tried to poison her as opposed to having her lynched. My much older cousins tell these stories with great pride and the eye-popping irony just sails right over their heads.

  3. starryfish29 says:

Folks are spinning so hard you can feel the shift in the earth’s rotation. What a mess,

  4. guest says:

Nah. Have fun covering for William and his former Brexit worker with their send them to Africa bs.

Them changing the story now wont stop the tons of articles using the Sunday times as their source. It’s out there.

  5. Ellie says:

Give the woman a break, she s about to have a baby. And after giving birth the psychology of a woman can be even more fragile, this is getting really abusive.

    • Mousy says:

This is why i believe her when she says she doesnt read this garbage about her – im sure shes filled in when she needs to be but she would go insane if she read this shit everyday ESPECIALLY while pregnant. Cant they at least wait until she gives birth???

    • Millenial says:

So abusive. I really feel for her. To put up with years of abuse from the Markles only to have the royals start abusing her in this way, too. I can’t imagine the stress she’s under, and while pregnant. Being stressed is scientifically shown to not be good for the baby due to cortisol, etc… Will and the royal PR machine should be ashamed of themselves.

      • PrincessK says:

So true, it is quite unbelievable, and to think that the Palace is so blatantly complicit in all of this is shocking to the core. Then we have Charles and The Queen do nothing, do they really have no authority to tell them to put a stop to all of this and close ranks. Who are they afraid of? William?

      • BayTampaBay says:

PrincessK, I find your point about the Palace shocking too.

      • jules says:

SO many people around the world are actively wishing her well, though. Surely that counterbalances some of the negativity she is exposed to.

      • JanetSewsItDown says:

PrincessK, why would you go some odd long way round to guess that? Instead of the obvious answer, they don’t care because they don’t care.

When The Queen wants a story stopped, it’s stopped. Like her son being a paedo and friend to Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein

  6. Weaver says:

Poor Harry has the crappiest big brother ever. Maybe Will should ditch Kate for Samantha Markle. They seem right up each other’s alley.

    • PrincessK says:

Also just imagine what kind of Uncle William will be to Polo Baby? The only Uncle the child will have, who treated its mother so unkindly throughout her pregnancy.

  7. Beach Dreams says:

Spin, spin, spin. The desperate backtracking has certainly been a sight to behold. Thankfully it’s too late for that; the initial story of William’s jealousy and bitterness is sticking like glue. How lovely of him and KP to pull this nonsense around the Queen’s birthday too.

    • jules says:

Yes, it’s sticking because it rings true. My impression, reading the summary, was “finally, the truth.”

W&K SHOULD be threatened by H&M, as H&M expose their shortcomings. The ONLY way for them to deal with that is to UP THEIR GAME. This is the advice William should be getting from his advisors.

Kate seems to have tapped into new reserves of confidence lately. That’s great. She needs to become more active, pronto.

[If they’re smart, they will bring Meghan into the fold & actively seek her advice. She appears to be a natural at many aspects of this job. The cookbook, for instance, was a wonderful idea.]

They need to LEARN from H&M, not hate on them.

      • LRob says:

Exactly. Take the opportunity to learn from a professionally trained public speaker and natural talent. And in kind share what you would like her to understand about british culture that she might not learn on her own or from Harry’s persoective. They are blowing it and William in particular should be ashamed.

      • Beach Dreams says:

Agree with both of you. I think the problem is that William has been so coddled and protected (even more after Diana’s death) that he doesn’t want to hear anything other than praise and support. When things don’t go his way, we see him throwing other people under the bus via the press. He and Kate had nearly a decade to make their mark. They should’ve taken advantage of all the goodwill from their wedding and hit the ground running like they claimed they would in their engagement interview.

      • Nic919 says:

That’s great advice but I don’t think William is smart enough to take it.

  8. aquarius64 says:

The attempt at damage control is laughable. I bet they can’t wait for Baby Sussex to arrive to change the subject.

  9. Wowsers says:

Africa is not a possibility due to safety. Australia and Canada can’t just throw dim Harry in as GG, you know that right? It’s an appointment by the Queen at the behest of the elected PM, you can’t just put someone with no legal or constitutional background as you see fit! That’s why I think this whole times article is nonsense, as the couriers know all this even if their reporters don’t.

    • sunny says:

Yup. Also Africa is a continent not a country, wish these racist fools wouldn’t treat it as a monolith.

And as a Canadian, I am also appalled that Normal Bill and his crackerjack staff don’t understand how these appointments work. I mean, did they not make him study the very basics of government in parliamentary monarchy? His team is not bright.

Spin, spin, spin away. We all see you.

      • Nic919 says:

William can barely speak French which is expected of all serious politicians in Canada. And all the GGs have been bilingual for decades now in addition to being highly accomplished. Our current GG is an astronaut FFS. There hasn’t been a Royal as Canadian GG since WWI. It’s all so historically ignorant and colonialist.

      • Redgrl says:

Yep – neither Harry nor Meghan would ever fly as GG in Canada. And it’s patronizing BS to even think that. As I’ve said here before – once QEII passes, Canada needs to sever ties
        these these characters.

      • Lady D says:

Ditto on the appalled that he doesn’t understand something so basic. Disgusting laziness.

    • Mich says:

Much of Africa (and particularly countries like South Africa and Botswana) is perfectly safe.

    • PrincessK says:

@Wowsers, I really do not understand the ‘dim Harry’ bit, just because he did not excel academically does not mean that he is not intelligent and bright. It is believed that he is dyslexic and more importantly his teenage years were scared by endless painful stories about his parents private lives.

      • MA says:

I always wonder why Harry is singled out as “dim”…A college degree doesn’t mean you’re smart. It’s not like William shows flashes of brilliance or wit. No one in that family is particularly bright.

      • notasugarhere says:

The anti-Meghan crowd like to bash Harry’s intelligence. MA, William was said to barely make it through his college coursework and that was with multiple tutors.

      • MA says:

@notasugarhere – Yeah, it’s so obvious when he went from the darling of the royal fandom to this idiotic, terrible man-child overnight.

      • Wowsers says:

I’d encourage you to look at the bios of any of Australias past GGs. Sorry, but you need to be academically and intellectually capable for the role. Which Harry is demonstrably NOT.

      • MsIam says:

@princessk, they smeared Diana the same way saying how stupid she was. These people are pros at marginalizing people. Sad that William appears to be part of it.

    • MA says:

Nah, the times article is legit. The courtiers discussed it before rejecting it. Just because it won’t happen doesn’t mean it waasn’t discussed by the dolts who work in the palace

      • Boudica says:

The fact that these dolts would even discuss the proposition of making Harry G-G of Australia or Canada in 2019 tells me that they haven’t a bloody clue about the real world today. Both countries have their own talented and accomplished home-grown candidates; why the hell would we accept one of the Windsors as G-G?

      • MA says:

@Boudica YUP. But then should any of us be surprised at their ignorance and condescension towards other countries and “former colonies”? Look at how these mostly middle class white courtiers have handled Meghan’s acceptance into the royal family. More racist and classist than the BRF themselves. More snobby than the Queen herself. A number of them seem fairly incompetent and just because they work for the palace doesn’t mean they know what they’re talking about. Case in point: Dickie Arbiter who worked for the Queen for DECADES once said on TV that Meghan will never receive a royal title because she’s American. I mean….. So of course some of them just think that the “Commonwealth” is for their tinkering.

    • Chrome says:

Stupid saying a GG role was discussed. That’s just face-saving garbage. Australia shut the gate on having Brits appointed as GG decades ago. Both Charles and Will have been rejected for the role by successive Aussie governments when it was mooted. Plus a new GG was appointed LAST DECEMBER to start next month. Any government appointing Harry would be kicked out in a heart beat. Plus there is an election next month. If (as expected) the Opposition wins, there will be a referendum to move to a republic. That proposal should win. I daresay the same mindset applies to Canada.

  10. Jess says:

Holy fudge, even when royals don’t have real power anymore they’re still absolutely vicious to relatives they see as rivals. At least William isn’t trying to cut off Harry’s head or stick him in the Tower of London but this is still brutal. I hope Harry is worth this garbage to poor Meghan. I would never want to marry into this family, no matter how cute that ginger Harry is.

  11. Beli says:

The desperate backpedaling is clear, but the original article didn’t come from one of the usual reporters on the royal circuit and it had named sources. Oops.

    • Amanda says:

Yep, it came from a political editor who stated on twitter that he “dusted off his royal contacts” since things were quite on the Brexit front.

    • Beach Dreams says:

That’s the key issue here. Tim Shipman isn’t with the royal reporter crowd, so it’s going to be a different (better) level of reporting than the usual stuff we get. Of course, there are going to be aspects of his reports that are questionable. For instance, FC as an exile for H&M? There were permits for permission to renovate it before the wedding. Well before the Sussex star power took full flight, and also before the brothers looked visibly tense in each others’ company. The Sussexes spent much of their courtship on the grounds, had engagement photos & wedding reception there, etc.. I doubt they see moving to FC as being in exile. But as you said, Shipman named sources, and sources who are connected to William/have an interest in framing William favorably.

  12. Becks1 says:

I wasn’t following the news over the weekend, so last night when I saw twitter I could see all the spinning happening and seeing it all at once was eye opening.

This is such a bizarre storyline overall and I can’t figure out what is going on at the palace that this story got out and then such a weird non-denial was issued.

  13. Lightpurple says:

Am I mis-remembering that before Harry took up with Meghan, he himself said that he wanted to go live in Africa for a while?

    • Meg says:

He dated chelsy Davy from South Africa for years which was when he said he’d like to live there so I associated the comment with her but then took Meghan there on a trip early on while dating and her engagement ring has a stone from there too so I don’t doubt he’d like to be there if he wasn’t royal but this story reeks of will and Kate being threatened by meg and Harry’s popularity

      • Skipper says:

I think they both said it was like a second home didn’t they and that they loved it . They may be more than happy to leave the UK for a time . And wouldn’t this be perfect for their desire to be seen as humanitarians

  14. Rhys says:

This is a much more believable story. Harry adores Africa (as does Will) and would absolutely move there if given a chance.

    • CynicalCeleste says:

^^^ This. Why always assume there’s a villain afoot and H&M are poor victims? These are all, incl Harry, William and Kate, a bunch of overprivileged toffs who would vastly prefer media left them alone to live their overprivileged lives in privacy. Meghan perhaps is the exception, as she did previously enjoy a life of publicity… but maybe she now enjoys the prospect of a being a rich royal raising a family away from the media glare with her fairytale prince even more. Having children often changes one’s priorities and the protective nesting instinct can be strong.

    • Bluthfan says:

No I think isn’t. It is to save face after the initial story got pushback for being racist and making William look terrible.

    • lily says:

exactly that’s why it is being spun this way.

    • MA says:

There are multiple motivations at play here. Harry could want to go to Africa for an extended royal engagement but William could also be wanting him out as well.

  15. Seraphina says:

Can’t they see how racist it appears that they are vanishing them to Africa with Megs considering her roots. At this point do they care (Palace) and why hasn’t chuck stepped up to stop this nonsense.

    • MrsBump says:

As an African, i am appalled that being sent to Africa is considered some sort of punishment, that it is being deemed racist or a banishment. What the heck?
Harry & Meghan are British royals, let them stay in Britain and take care of British stuff.

      • Rhys says:

As a non-African immigrant in America I too find this very telling. It reveals what people ACTUALLY think about the countries outside of the West, as opposed to what they like to say in order to sound good, charitable and forward-thinking.

      • Mich says:

Thank you. I lived in South Africa for more than 15 years and traveled the continent extensively. Being forced to come back to the US was soul crushing.

I can see them being very happy if they were based in Cape Town. Not to mention that Harry has family there.

      • jules says:

yea I was gonna say, isn’t it racist to say they are being “banished” to Africa, like it’s a bad thing?

      • Kara says:

Lmfao stop acting like countries in Africa are better than the “would crushing” US.

Whites in Africa are the worst.

      • Mich says:

Really, Kara? In your personal experience, what makes the United States better or even preferable to South Africa or Botswana?

      • Beach Dreams says:

@MrsBump @Rhys: You should take those questions up with the KP team, as they are the ones who have pushed the story (and the “punishment” framing of it) in the first place.

      • Chrome says:

Absolutely right Mrs Bump. Also, what right have the royals to presume to dump themselves in other countries? Harry and Meghan are member of the British Royal Family. The British pay for them. They should work in Britain.

Also, how is relocating to Africa a punishment? Wow, that is racist in itself.

    • Seraphina says:

I never said it was a punishment. I just find it odd it’s being labeled as a punishment by the reports.

  16. MsIam says:

Exile? Banishment? Wait what year is this? 1719? I cannot believe this conversation is happening among adults in 2019 about a position that is largely ceremonial.

    • Chrome says:

Only TQ has a position. The rest faff about expecting to be paid for appearances where they meet people doing the charity work, or they do walkabouts. And they call it work.

Harry and Meghan should cut themselves loose. They can earn their own money and set up their own charities if they wish. And live wherever they want.

  17. megs283 says:

*waves* We’ll take them here in the good ole’ US! Heck, let’s pop them in the White House and eject the current residents.

  18. Mego says:

Thanks for this blunt and honest post pointing to what’s really going on. This spin is making my head spin.

I feel sad looking at pics of Harry. He chose such a great person to be his partner I wish he could be happy in peace. He so doesn’t deserve this crap.

  19. entine says:

Whatever it is, the ugly press had a big hand in increasing their (and her) popularity. They went hard after their relationship to sell it, the others let things happen and besides all the tabloid lies, I think particularly the cambridges were not so please because they have to start working more. It would’ve be easier for them to manage the situation if they had been working harder for real, not just “keen”.
I hope the Sussexes are left alone for a few weeks , but it is wishful thinking.

  20. Leyton says:

This is a huge mess and for no apparent reason at all.

The story by Tim Shipman, a Brexit guy and presumably someone Simon Case knows, made William look like an jackass who was sending away his popular brother and sister in law to somewhere in Africa as a way to get the spotlight back on him.

It made him look terrible and now Royal Reporters are working overtime to make this story about Harry and Meghan wanting to hang out in Africa for years…or has it moved onto months?

The only thing has a disgusting racial undertone to it. Ship the Biracial Duchess and her child to Africa because they’re getting too popular? How insulting on so many different levels.

  21. Snap Happy says:

I like the picture you chose. It’s like you can hear Harry thinking, “What the hell is going on?”

  22. Busyann says:

You know what would be kind of neat? If Harry and Meghan moved to the US and Meghan or Harry (probably not Harry, even) became president. I mean that’s never gonna happen, but that would be the ultimate payback. Will and Kate are absolutely deplorable.

    • MA says:

No that’s not allowed. Harry will mever be a natrual born citizen and Meghan has a foreign title

      • Tina says:

Harry of course never, but Meghan would be fine. The Title of Nobility Clause in the US Constitution applies only to accepting titles of nobility while already in office; it has no effect on titles acquired prior to seeking office.

      • MA says:

        @Tina Thanks, TIL! Very interesting.

  23. Mumbles says:

You guys are all correct – the grossness of the “poverty porn” that has its roots in colonialism. And yeah the view of “being sent to Africa” as punishment is gross too. To avoid all this, you may see the plan changed to Malta (where QE and Philip spent early days of their marriage, which QE has described as the happiest of her life.)

I have no idea what William is doing here. It’s not as if there’s going to be an election for king between him and Harry. He’s got this one. He’s got a wife who will never leave him and beautiful kids and a life that’s not going to require any heavy lifting. What more does he want?

    • Lowrider says:

Celebrity and popularity. That’s what Will wants.
As first born he gets everything. The crown, money, jewels, estates, media protection, everything! He can sit back and do nothing and he will not be reprimanded.

      • CynicalCeleste says:

With respect, William does not want celebrity nor popularity. If he did, he would not constantly snarl at the press. William endures celebrity as his part of his duty but based on his remarks, actions and body language, he makes it clear that he would much rather live a private life on a plush country estate where he can shoot the wildlife and shag the neighbours in peace. (which is possibly what harry envisions for a life in botswana, which would make william very jealous, lol)

      • MA says:

You both are right. William just want the best of both worlds. He wants to avoid doing engagements and hide away, pursuing his personal hobbies/partying/whatever he does in his free time. BUT, when he does do engagements, he wants to be the most important person in the world. Hence his lamenting over lack of celebrity involvement and Very Important things like Davos. He wants to have people’s adoration (which is a very human trait–everyone wants to be liked), but he also doesn’t want to work for it.

      • Beach Dreams says:

Agreed @MA. William absolutely wants attention and popularity, but on *his* terms (as pretty much any public figure does). The notion that Will doesn’t want popularity at all is laughable at best.

  24. Well-Wisher says:

Prince Harry does not speak to the media anymore. So the tabloids do not know what he desires or how he thinks. It could have been contemplated when it became clear that neither princes were looking forward to the prospect of beinas a full time royal. He has since embraced his duties and has his wife by his side while fulfilling said duties.

    • Redgrl says:

Well, let’s not exaggerate. Neither William nor Harry work hard at all. Harry may be less of a brat but he’s lazy and entitled too.

  25. Paisley says:

I think the press makes all this crap up, and I hope H&M take it with a grain of salt.

  26. magnolia says:

Moving to Africa for a few years is a great idea. It would be wonderful for their family and their work. I hope they do it. I guess it may not be possible long term for immigration reasons, but otherwise it couldn’t be better. Such an amazing continent.

    • minx says:

      I would do it!

    • MsIam says:

So what would happen with their patronages in Great Britain? Would they just abandon those? Are they supposed to be flying back and forth all the time? This idea is totally contrary to everything they have been working on, including all the millions spent renovating the house. And why the need for this story to come out now when they are about to have a baby? The last thing on anyone’s mind would be moving to a new continent!

    • Skipper says:

Exactly .whyare people’s comments about Africa so negative? It’s a wonderful place . They would be lucky to get this opportunity.

  27. RoyalBlue says:

I would love for them to move to a country in Africa and use their star power to do their thing and raise funds for charities, help build schools, education for girls etc.

What a wonderful venture. Someone got wind of their early stage plans and leaked them with a spin. I see you Kensington.

    • MsIam says:

They may decide to do this eventually, but I can’t see them having a baby and then packing up to move out of the country a year later. This story is crazy as h@ll!

      • RoyalBlue says:

True MSIAM. I am just trying to make sense out of nonsense. Someone messed up with this one.

  28. CooCooCatchoo says:

The Cambridges do not like being upstaged, period. You’d think that with as many responsibilities as those two have on their plates (their own marriage, raising three small children, learning the ropes of the monarchy, not to mention their own royal duties and charity obligations) these two wouldn’t have time to stir the shit pot.

  29. Emby says:

I maintain what I said on the other thread:

I think HARRY LEAKED this to expose Kensington machinations and simultaneously keep the move from happening. The fact that it came out on Easter Sunday and the Queen’s bday was a big “back off my family” statement in the days leading up to the baby’s birth.

    • Lady D says:

That would be amazing and funny if true.

    • MA says:

This makes no sense. Another way to prevent the move from happening is to just…not go. They can’t force them to do something like that. Plus it would ruim the process of Meghan’s citizenship

  30. Vanessa says:

I do believe that William is jealous of Meghan and Harry popularity I think William was behind this latest article about a move to push the Sussex out . I think the article was test to see how the general public would reacted thankfully a few good people made a enough noise for them to backtrack now William and people are trying to spin this story as it’s wasn’t their idea it was all Meghan and Harry they just want to run off to Africa and make the taxpayers pay for a vacation. It’s really sad that Meghan has been bully and villianly throughout her whole pregnancy for no reason other then color of her skin and that she works hard for the crown . If William is this petty to try to bully his brother and pregnant wife while Meghan is on maternity leave all because he jealous of attention they receive what is going to do to when their baby is born and the baby steals attention as the first mixed race born into the royal family. Are William And Kensington courtiers going to leak stories about a innocent baby because the baby is gathered more attention than the Cambridge kids combined. How far is William willing to go because of his jealous how much more is Meghan and Harry supposed to take how come the queen and Charles haven’t put a stop to this already.

  31. Whatnow says:

I am just seeing that they’re supposedly is a video of William and Harry on Easter chatting away I’m looking happy. I myself have not seen it so I cannot say if it’s true or not

  32. Ardina Wilson says:

William is jealous of Harry and Kate is Jealous of Meghan,Kate is lazy she is jealous of Meghan work effect. So sad William is jealous because Harry is becoming his own man.

    • Jana says:

I agree~Wills loved it when Harry was the wild child and he was the good son, but now that Harry has settled down with a gorgeous wife and has a baby of his own coming, Wills is feeling like the shine is really off his apple. And I’m sure Kate is threatened by the much more glamorous Meghan Markle, who actually had a career and life before Harry,

  33. intheknow says:

This is fking exhausting AF and I am just an observer I can’t imagine being involved.
Egos and Icons ALL of them…that said Team Harry & Meghan.

To think I once felt that they should skip over Charles and go to William next. I hope Charles reigns and live to be 120

  34. Every article, video, body language and photos of Prince Harry,William and Kate tell the whole story. I found it unbelievable that at the same time baby Sussex’s is due,Williams cheating affair,Sussex’s at Frogmore Cottage,Sussex’s wanting to move to Africa and you release a story pretending Doria just arrived on Easter Sunday when she has been there for a few days or couple of weeks. If the racist, money grabbing, celebrity seeking, jealous and down right mean and bullying William,Charles and the Queen Elizabeth ll do this it will crumble the monarch. Charles cheating on Princess Diana and was so disappointed when Harry was born and then orchestrated her death and blamed the media so your sons would never know the truth plus marring your mistress ruined Charles reign bc all of this will come back up again. Prince Phillips hands aren’t clean either. Now William with the help of Charles,Phillip and Her Majesty wants his brother,sister-in-law and new baby sent to AFRICA. Monarch is so dilapidated that it will fall apart after the Queen dies. No one wants Prince Harry and DMeghan sent anywhere. Britain as well as other countries will turn on William and they have already started so this will be WILLIAMS DOWN FALL. You will have to put Prince Harry as King to save the monarch, don’t do this. I can hear the clock ticking down. Prince Harry will not help save the monarch once it begins to fall. So much for Charles wanting to bond with his new grandchild. I don’t know who came up with this brilliant idea but it smells of William,Kate and the Middleton’s. You might want to abort mission. It’s going to blow up on you William and Kate as well as Charles and the Queen. Phillip has retired but he still talks to the RF and I’m sure put his two sense in as well. Disgusting and Disaster of an idea. RETHINK THIS BEFORE ITS TO LATE. Prince Harry and DMeghan just want to have their baby and be happy.

  35. MA says:

    Sure, Jan.

  36. Jana says:

Way to go Royals, you have succeeded in making Meghan’s family look not quite as monsterous by comparison…I personally believe William is the cause of all this uproar, he may look like his mother, but is petty and cowardly just like his father.

  37. Vi says:

Whether the main story was embellished or not with (and it was) ,doing the most with the jealousy, rivalry storyline, the article clearly states that allegedly these discussions are happening among the queen’s collaborators, senior officials, and the former British ambassador to US. I don’t know why we’re overlooking what is written to make everything about “William and Kate (who have zero power in these matters) want to send M&H away helped by some no name courtiers”.. while daddy and granny don’t know anything..
These alleged plans come from ” the Firm”.

    • Curryong says:

No-one is saying that the Queen and Charles didn’t know anything about this, simply that Simon Case, William’s Private Secretary, featured large in these plans to ship Harry and Meghan off. Why? And in one of the original The Times articles it features William being reassured by courtiers in the past few months that his influence will grow while his brother’s will fade, and not to worry. What does that say about William’s psyche?

      • Skipper says:

I think William is taking the fall for Charles . This would be his or the Queens decision if true . He has a history of throwing his sons under the bus to protect his image .

  38. Kath says:

    Australian here.

OK, so obviously either the royals, the courtiers or the tabloid press (if they made this up) are a bunch of morons. The English continue to have a bizarre belief that they somehow “own” Australia, or that we’re some sort of far flung outpost of Empire. I encountered this attitude all the time among certain “types” of English folk. (Always English, by the way, never Scottish, Welsh or NI!)

As Perplexed has pointed out, Australia and Canada are independent nations. Fewer and fewer of us are even of Anglo stock anymore. The fact that we maintain Commonwealth ties and have a GG as a head of state figurehead DOES NOT MEAN that the royals can appoint a BRITISH SUBJECT as GG.

FFS! We would set the country on fire if the Brits attempted to install a non-Australian as GG. Any power the royals have over our GG was quietly removed decades ago. Now the Queen “approves” the PM’s recommendation, but it is a rubber stamp only.

I don’t expect Australia will maintain even those ties once Charles becomes king. Once he’s in and throwing his weight around, I guarantee that we will suddenly rediscover our desire to become a republic.
