Police: Don't post status about leaving town Memorial weekend
Many of us post pictures about our lives on social media. With so many people headed out of town for Memorial Day weekend, local police and home security experts are warning that your next post could open your front door to burglars."Imagine telling everyone that you're going to be gone for three days. Now everybody knows your house is vacant," said Tim Krebs, with Protect America Home Security. "If you have some unscrupulous friend or a friend of a friend then your house is vulnerable."Krebs says wait to post pictures until after you return home from  your trip and added this rule applies no matter your privacy settings."We have seen examples of people getting burglarized by someone they know or are connected to in some way via social media," said Krebs.For more tips on protecting your home while you're out of town click here.
