IRS Under Pressure Year After Easing Nonprofit Disclosure Rule

Two Democratic senators hope to hear from the IRS in coming days about the agency’s rollback of nonprofit disclosure requirements, a move that has drawn scrutiny for the last year.

The letter Sens. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) and Bob Casey (D-Pa.) sent to IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig calls on him to explain why the IRS Criminal Investigation division wasn’t consulted on the policy change and to explain how it came about.
