Snakes are arguably the most feared animals in the entire animal kingdom. There appearance, their venom and the way they move makes them truly terrifying in some peoples eyes, but if you put all of that aside and actually look at them properly they are amazing animals.
The pattern of their scales and vibrant colours actually make them some of the most colourful animals out there. These photographs taken by Guido Mocafico are part of a series that highlights just that. By putting the snakes in a black box and photographing them from above he captures how beautiful they really are.
