This was an unusual book. I had no idea what to expect. It was one of those story lines that when trying to explain it to a friend it sounds completely crazy and maybe even ridiculous. But while you are reading it you are just completely immersed and shocked as you are taken along for the ride. It was well written and although the female lead could have come across as not thinking things through or being immature it never seemed that way. The author did a great job with a relatively weird subject matter. Thumbs up for my first read of the new year.

One thing is for sure, I’ve definitely never read a thriller before that features such a stunning amount of spiders; so much so I had nightmares about it the night I started reading this book (and just so you know, I’m more afraid of snakes than spiders). Yep, that night I dreamt there were people in my home strategically placing poisonous little brown spiders in every nook and cranny. What I learned from this book – though I’m not convinced it’s the truth – is that spiders are apparently gentle, misunderstood creatures that mean us no harm. Um, okay. It might be the truth to some, but when Mr Spider and I are having a stare-down, I’m not entirely sure it is more afraid of me than I am of it. But there you have it. Apparently they’re misunderstood.

Besides having nightmares the night I started reading The Tegen Cave, I wasn’t too impressed with the content of this book. The writing is considerably juvenile and the dialogue feels forced. The story has loads of potential, but the author neglects to elaborate early on what I considered the more important details the reader should know right from the start, which not knowing, only left me feeling frustrated. Often the story would unexpectedly jump from one scene to the other, accomplishing only in making me feel disorientated and confused as to where the characters find themselves at that particular point in time, and with whom. Character development and world-building were mediocre at best, and the constant bed-hopping served more as a mild annoyance to which I just sighed and skimmed through it, than arousing literature. The plot was all over the place and because the story had so much potential, I really wished more time was invested in fluffing out every element that made up what could’ve been a magnificent read.

Apart from the nymphomaniac protagonist and her insatiable sexual needs for which I didn’t care one bit (at 50% on my kindle version of this book I considered it a miracle she could still walk), I’d also like to add for the benefit of any prospective authors who might be reading this review, that if you want to write about child trafficking and child pornography, write it with sensitivity and care. Don’t just casually fling it into the story for the sake of shock value and sensationalism to make your antagonists look really bad-ass. It’s awfully distasteful.

I won’t highly recommend The Tegen Cave, but if you’re up for a few cheap thrills and in the mood for some mindless reading to help you fall asleep, then wait until this book is free for download and add it to your TBR.

Let me first start off by saying that I have a phobia of spiders called Arachnophobia. As I read this story, my skin constantly crawled, with chills, the more I read this book. There were times, that I admit, that I did have to put this story aside for a couple of days, due to my fears of spiders. I did take me a lot longer to finish this book due to my fears and nightmares.

Secondly, I really enjoyed the physical, psychological, and emotional twists and turns of the story. It's a refreshing and amazing new look on a common phobia with a wild and unforgettable ride that will keep you entertained, intrigued, and addicted from beginning to end. Make sure to fasten your seat belt and that your hands and feet stay in this remarkable ride at all times. This author was really good at her attention to detail so much that I would have nightmares.

I highly recommend this story to any who love a creepy and twisted story that will entice and lure you to keep reading, though I do admit that this book is not for the faint of heart.

Tegen's Cave is an exciting pychological thriller that held my interest from beginning to end. It is the story of Sara James, a self-possessed young woman who has fled an unhappy, controlling romance and re-established herself in a new state with a new identity. Trouble begins when her friends and hotel guests are bitten by often lethal, poisonous spiders and Sara remains unharmed. Tegen's Cave is a page turner from the beginning and presents us with a strong female protagonist, a suspenseful plot with unexpected twists and turns and compelling believable characters. An excellent read that is a blend of psychology, horror, romance and suspense.

Well done, highly recommended!

"The Tegen Cave" by Inge-Lise Goss is a powerful and scary novel with a well plotted and twisted story line.
With a common name such as Sara Jones our heroine thinks she can begin a new life far away from her boyfriend. She meets the handsome Brett and life is looking good until the appearance of deadly spiders brings back the past and some new sinister challenges.
It is impossible to tell you any more about the plot without spoiling the plot, which goes to show how well constructed and plotted the book is. A fast pace, great suspense and great twists make this an unpredictable and engaging and a very gripping novel.
The romance part benefits from great descriptive writing and very believable chemistry, our heroine's inner conflicts and feelings are given enough time within the thriller pacing to make her a character we care for.
More complex than I had expected and with several tricks up its sleeves this is a solid performance and a book to recommend - even to arachnophobic readers.

Now, I am terrified of spiders. Can't stand them. But don't let this put you off. I simply glided over the word and ignored it. Having said that I really wish she had chosen a bug, any bug but that one. But I can honestly say I absolutely loved this book.
The storyline was like nothing I have ever read before. It was fantastic. The story and the characters were again, incredibly well written. There were no editing mistakes that I could see and no spelling or words missing etc.
I fell in love with the characters. I was willing her to leave Connor and stay with Brett then it all went topsy turvy. I twas unbelievable. For me a good book is one that you just don't want to put down, and trust me when I say I really hated working while I was reading this book. Major inconvenience.
it has to be said I would be very surprised if a big publisher didn't pick this book up because it really does deserve it.
Read this book, gloss over the spidery bit if you don't like them, but it is fantastic and a must read. I cannot wait until the next in the series.

Let me start off by saying if you are not a fan of spiders this book is not going to be your cup of tea. I truly fell into this story, it has a very unique story line and characters. Sara realizes her boyfriend, Conner, is not everything she thought he was. While traveling after leaving him she meets Brett. Brett introduces her into a whole new world, one that's packed full of spiders. I usually don't read book descriptions and am glad when I get a rare gem like this one. It will break up the monotony of your reading library. Yes it has romance, danger and paranormal beings, but boy are they unique in this book!! Great read, I will be looking forward to more books by this author. WaAR

I am not a girlie girl. So the spiders did not upset me at all. In fact, it added a new type of spice to this thriller. I adored that. The new slant thrilled me.
Admittedly, the author tended to repeat certain story lines in the book as if she wanted to make sure the reader was following and in this process I got distracted and at times confused due to the repeat of known info not being followed up with new and crucial info. This gave me the idea that she jumped in logic and I reread several passages to make sure I did not miss things.

That said, I absolutely adored this book and will love to read more by this author.

A friend recommended this book, so I thought I would give it a try.

Sara Jones is a wonderful character, who is on the run from her boyfriend's family. I really liked her attitude, but wanted to shake some sense into her too, as she made a few questionable decisions. However, it's her immunity to a venomous spider that has me intrigued.

This is an unusual horror/suspense that kept me hooked from the first page! The story is told from Sara's point of view and is a roller coaster ride of suspense and mystery. There is also a bit of horror in the form of spiders. Luckily, I am not squeamish about spiders. In fact, I rather admire them; they perform an important role in the food chain. If there were no spiders, we would be totally overrun by insects!
The author of this book has used arachnids to great effect. The suspense and mystery surrounding these deadly foes was masterfully written. There are several twists and turns in the story, which kept me guessing, and a fair few surprises too. However, there are a few issues I have with the storyline. The paranormal aspect was intriguing, but I was a bit disappointed with the lack of detail of the transformation process, and what it actually means to be a Tegen for Sara personally. I was also a bit confused with Sara's actions - running from her boyfriend, but then going back with him, even though the rest of his family didn't like her - and also having a new boyfriend at the same time. Another issue I had was the revenge/vigilante aspect. I am not a fan of this type of action whether you are a real person, or a character in a book. However, since the people involved were scumbags of the first order, I suppose I can see why though! The ending was satisfying and left me happy.

Inge-Lise Goss has written an intriguing horror full of mystery and suspense. I am curious to see what this author comes up with in the future.

I do not recommend this book to younger readers due to some violence and scenes of a sensual nature that, although are not explicit, are rather hot, and to readers who have arachnophobia or of a nervous disposition. However, I recommend this book if you love horror/suspense genres. - Lynn Worton

What I loved about this book - it has an amazingly new and fresh plot line!
I also loved how the author left no story line unfinished. However this is also something I will discuss in the section about what I did not like about this book.
The thing I loved most of all is the intricate webs emotionally, physically, psychologically that is the theme set agains a very physical web woven.

Ok what did I like about the book! I liked the fact that the book, while lending itself towards explicit scenes never actually goes into detail! Again, an however follows this in the section about what I did not like about this book!

Ok what I did not like -- the author, in my opinion had at times too many story lines running. It took me some time to find the theme of the book within the plot and once I did I was in two regarding my opinion. Do I admire the authors ability to write up such an intricate theme? Or do I dislike the fact that the web woven on such intricacy? I in the end decided to love the theme and feel ambiguous about the way at times it was presented. I found the story line at times to drag a bit due to the theme but this will depend on readers personal choice.

Onwards to my second misgiving -- the author has her heroin engage in some very hot scenes. I loved the fact that these were not explicit, however I found the frequency a bit tedious and it stopped being effective very soon.

So with so much to love, so many things to like and only two points that I found troubling-- why then the star rating? Cause not even this brilliant author with such an unique plot can make me warm up to spiders. Eeeeeeeeek!

I received this book to give an honest review.

This was a very very different book. I honestly have never read anything like it before and it was a nice change to my normal reads. You have spiders, and those that are like spiders. I found myself at first going a bit crazy being as I would read that were spiders then there would be nothing there. But I got my answer on that later on within the book. Sara runs away from her boyfriend whose family is into crime. But what she doesn't know is that she is being watched and being pursed to go to Billings. When she arrives well that is when everything comes into play. She learns who and what she is, which is hard for anyone to wrap their head around it all.
What I didn't like within the story was the way Sara acted at times. She is running away from her boyfriend but then the next thing you know she is like I want to go back home. Umm what? Really? Second she didn't seem to really dig into what was going on around her. She just took advice and what others told her. I felt that she could have been a bit more of a detective. I know if people were dying around me from spider bites bet your bottom dollar I am gonna investigate. Yes we do get all the answers to what was going on, why it was happening and what not which is good so it wasn't just a story untold I just felt she could have looked into it more.

Oh my! I absolutely LOVED this book and I am terrified of spiders! I actually fell asleep reading this last night. I cold not put it down. I was so entranced I could not stop reading today until I finally finished it.

Basically for a short rundown. No Spoilers. Sorry. Sara Jones found out some disturbing things about her boyfriend and his family and she ran. She knows that they will be looking for her. When people start dying from spider bites she wonders if they have found her. There are so many series of events that she starts to wonder if this is the case and who she can trust.

This book takes you on so many twists and turns you don't know what to expect. My husband thought that I was weird because I was reading a book with Spiders in it knowing how terrified of Spiders I am. The description of this book intrigued me from the start. I a so glad that I put aside my fear of spiders to read this. I definitely recommend reading this book even if you are afraid of Spiders. I would definitely be interested in reading more books involving Tegen's if Inge-Lise Goss ever decided to write another book involving them!

The Tegen Cave, a novel by Inge-Lise Goss, is just under 270 pages in length and available in paperback, Kindle, ebook.

The story opens with a murder. Not some boring gun shot or knife slash … but a murder via spider bite. Now that the author has your attention, she executes an adrenaline filled escape. Sara Jones, an independent twenty-something, escapes from a crime family involved in child trafficking, drugs, all nasty stuff Sara just doesn’t want to be part of her life. With no particular destination in mind, and on the advice of seemingly innocuous fellow bus passengers met along her journey, Sara settles in Montana, hoping to leave the horrid world behind. Shortly, while ensconced in a hotel and getting ready to apartment hunt, Sara is befriended by a handsome, nice guy.

Enter more spiders. Lots of spiders.

At this point, the reader, and Sara, are forced into suspecting everybody. Who can Sara trust? Who is out to get her? Is the crime family killing people with spiders? Is the crime family the good guys and Sara is being sucked into a ‘spider cult’? Why is she immune to the spider bite that will paralyze and kill someone else? Why is she having a different physical reaction? As the pages are quickly turned in this story, you’ll be artfully swayed, completely convinced you know where Goss is headed, then boom … wrong turn. What fun!!

Not recommended as a young adult book. Although tastefully done, and most detail left to the reader imagination, there is considerable sex some may consider gratuitous, but it is all part of the story of the Tegen species and the character development of Sara.

The Tegen Cave has it all: horror … spiders, lots and lots of spiders, science fiction, mystery, romance, thriller, paranormal … and best of all … magic!

A Brilliant Read!

Originality and creativity, on their own, earn this book a full five stars! From the very beginning of the story, there is a lot intrigue, character development and movement. Very quickly, the reader gets hitched onto a fast-paced ride with a lot of unique plot twists. It was difficult to put down! Every turn of the page leads to something new.
Sara Jones, a young woman attempting to start a new life while running from a dangerous past, has no idea what is in store for her. Many peculiar and frightening events begin to unfold, in such a way, that I found myself engrossed in the plot line and in the characters’ actions. Mysterious spiders, a suspicious ring, secrets and most of all, trust. All of these elements are woven together to create a one-of-a-kind tale. The suspense builds incredibly as the story progresses, with a most satisfying and amazing finale. A brilliant read!

The Tegen Cave by Inge-Lise Goss

In The Tegen Cave by Inge-Lise Goss we are introduced to Sara who becomes engaged to her boyfriend Connor. However, Sara finds out the kind of Connor and his family are engaging in, business (drug trafficking, prostitution, pornography and selling young teenagers as sex slaves) and she does not approve of it. Sara decides she does not want to be mixed up in that type of world so she decides to leave.

After speaking with a woman on the bus, Sara ends up stopping and staying in Billings, Montana. After being there for around six weeks, she has a job and a car and is looking for an apartment. She is staying at a hotel and has a good looking guy in the room next to her named Brett. Sara figures she doesn’t need any entanglements while on the run from Connor and his family.

Sara receives a package one day. She is afraid to open it because she’s afraid Connor’s family has found her. Sara was also meeting with Nancy Stewart, who was helping her find an apartment. Sara and Nancy went up to Sara’s hotel room with her package. Sara takes the package and opens the box and finds a ring inside. Nancy comments on how beautiful it is and how she used to work in a jewelry store. Nancy asks Sara took look at the ring. Once Nancy takes the ring she is bitten by a spider and it paralyzes her. Sara calls 911 and paramedics pick Nancy up and take her away. Nancy never makes it to the hospital and ends up missing. A little while later Nancy turns up dead behind the Alta bar where she was eventually dumped.

There ends up being a couple more spider attacks including one with Sara. Sara was sleeping and the phone rings, she answers it but no one says anything on the other end. Sara hangs up and tries to go back to bed but feels something tickling her legs. She pulls back the covers and her legs are covered with spiders. Sara starts to panic but knows she needs to calm down and then she calls Brett. Brett climbs through her window and Sara tells him she wants to save the spiders. Sara thinks they are misunderstood creatures. They carefully remove the spiders and put them in a tissue box. When they go to look at the spiders, they are all gone. They hear screaming and find the spiders attacked another woman on the floor. (Sara eventually notices she was bitten by the spiders but does not have any of the symptoms the other people had. She just has flu like symptoms.)

Brett and Sara decide that it would be safer if they left the hotel. Brett tells Sara that his friend Rex has a home about twenty minutes from the hotel that they could stay at. It would be safe because it is out of the way, off the beaten path. Sara eventually agrees to stay at Rex’s home.

As Sara is looking around the home, a landscape painting above the sofa catches her eye. It is a picture of a cave. Sara asks Brett if the cave is around the area but Brett said he’d have to ask Rex. Sara felt like she wanted to go to the cave, it felt inviting.

Later that night they had some wine and dinner. They went out back into the Jacuzzi and Sara came onto Brett and they ended up in the bedroom. Later, 2 women were tugging on her legs, getting her out of bed. Sara felt groggy and felt like she was floating above the ground. One of the women blindfolded her. They went outside and walked through the leaves when a man told them to bring her to him. They took the blindfold off and she finds it to be a man she had seen at the hotel. The man placed a spider in Sara’s hand and Sara gently stroked the spider admiring it. He then dumped the spider out of her hand and into a container with three others. The man brings over a cup with a dark red liquid in it for Sara to drink. She ends up drinking from the cup and can’t believe how good it tastes. Sara looks around and it seems like there is a party going on. The two women grab Sara’s arms and she turns and sees the stout man of the woman at the hotel who was bitten by the spider the night she was bitten. His eyes were removed and his blood was being drained from his body. Sara was terrified but was calmed by the man with the dark eyes from the hotel. Sara was blindfolded again and taken back to her bed.

The next day she runs into Connor. Connor asks her to leave with him. She tells him she can’t leave without having a plan. Meanwhile she runs into Lindsey, a girl she met on the bus to Billings. Lindsey went to Portland to meet up with Simon Ellis and she said he wasn’t what he appeared to be. Lindsey ends up staying with Brett and her at the house. She goes to bed that night and is taken into the woods again where she drank and ate and when finished the dark hair man,( which is Rex’s neighbor Lance)puts her back to bed.

One night after they went to the movies, Brett is in the den and she over hears him on the phone saying that she is the best assignment that he has ever had and they can’t give her anymore unless she needs it before the transformation. Sara is really freaked out and decides it is time for Connor to help her leave. Sara and Connor make a plan and she leaves. While she is going to meet Connor at the airport, her hormones go into overdrive and Connor and her end up having sex on the plane.

Connor talks to her about papers she took before she left and Sara tells him she left them in a safety deposit box in Sidney, Nebraska. The next day they get on the airplane to go to Nebraska.
After they get off the plane, Sara is told she had to follow Connor’s rules which basically make her a prisoner in his house. Sara has dinner with Connor and his brother Cameron. The brothers openly speak about “the business” which Sara cannot handle and she accidentally spills a drink on herself to be able to get away from the conversation. She decides to tell Connor that she wants to leave and go back to live at the house her parents left her when they died. Connor isn’t happy but he agrees.

Connor was supposed to take her to the airport but Cameron and Saul show up instead. Saul attacks Sara in the back of the limo. Sara fights him off and Saul stops after a phone call he receives. They notice they were being followed and they stop. They get out of the limo and Brett and Saul start to argue about Sara. Saul puts a gun to her head. However, Saul points the gun at Brett and shoots him. Sara scratches Saul and they both fall to the ground. Sara then wakes up in the hospital with her hands and feet wrapped in gauze. A nurse explains she hit her head and was bitten by a spider. The nurse also told her that Dr. Alston (Lance) was treating her for the spider bites. Lance walks in and tells her that Brett isn’t dead and that he was supposed to speak with her but because of everything that occurred, Lindsay will talk with her instead and if she has any questions afterwards, he will answer them.

Lindsay tells her she is a Tegen, Brett is her handler and all that is left is her transformation. Lindsey tells her that they are a species. In 1871 Sir Randolph Heinrich was looking for a way to stop the aging process. He extracted a gene sequence from a hobo spider and then injected into mice and they ended up not aging. He then injected the gene sequence into himself and wa-la you have tegens. The only thing that kills a tegen is fire. Basically Sara is turning into a human spider.

Cameron tries to kidnap her while in the hospital, but Brett and Lindsay save her and were able to acquire some food to boot. Cameron tries again and gets Sara and Lindsey down to the morgue where Brett saves both of them (by crashing through the roof). Sara loses it and starts going at Cameron and wanting to eat him but Lance pulls her back because she had to wait for the spiders to bite him and their venom to course through the body. Sara does have a couple bites of Cameron but then feels disgusted with herself.

Sara leaves the hospital and goes to Lances home. She decides that she will become a tegen and she walks into the cave and Lance takes her to a dark part of the cave and has her lay down in what she says feels like a hammock. Spiders then by the hundreds start crawling all over and in her.

After her transformation, she goes with Connor because she devised a plan and wanted to put it into action. Sara ends up freeing girls from Connors business that were getting ready to be shipped out. Connor finds out that she had something to do with that and Cameron’s death. Connor takes her to a warehouse where he roughs her up a bit to get her to tell him who helped Brett kill Cameron and his men in the morgue that day. Cameron’s son comes and knocks Sara around a bit, and then she is rescued by her father, Brett and Lindsey. The warehouse was set on fire and the bodies Lance brought with him from the morgue were put down in place of their bodies while they waited in a secure location for the fire to be put out.

When I first read reviews for the book, I was apprehensive because people were saying there was a tremendous amount of sex in the book. Yes, there is a lot of sex mentioned but that’s it, it’s just mentioned. Such as, “we made love”. It’s very understated. So you don’t have to worry about that if you aren’t looking for that type of book.

The author has written a wonderfully unique story. The book is nonstop because there is something always happening to poor Sara. The book is filled with intrigue, deception and a lot of twists and turns. You don’t know who to trust. Inge-Lise Goss has written a suspenseful story that keeps the reader on their toes for the entire book. The reader is not disappointed.

A must read!

The Tegen Cave, a paranormal horror thriller, is not for the faint of heart. Sara, the main character, undergoes a metamorphosis that overwhelms her at first, until she learns to use her powers and find her way out of the dangerous twists and turns.
Pursued by Crussett crime family linked to her lover, Conner, Sara finds refuge in Billing. There she meets Brett, Petroleum engineer who is well-read (Kafka) and charming. A mysterious package arrives for her. It contains a silver ring with a black stone. When she opens the package, a spider whose bite paralyzes its victims is let on the loose.
“My parents were archeologists so I’m used to spiders. I think they’re beautiful.” Immune to their venom, Sara pokes around. She discovers horrible cult ceremonies in the woods and thinks of ways she could destroy the corruption of the Crussetts family business.
Is the unusual disturbing? To me, it is stimulating. Either way, be ready.
Five stars.

I hate spiders. Lots of spiders in this story. So it was a creepy crawly tale for me to read. I might end up sleeping with the lights on tonight. This book took twists and turns I did not expect. Kept me reading. Trying to figure out where the good guys or bad guys were.

Lots of dead bodies count in this book, lots of spiders, too many sex scenes, lots of bad guys and all around Sara Jones it evolves.
This is not a light hearted story.

Sara is a strong character. She is 24 years old. For the past few years she has been living with her boyfriend Conner who is 9 years older then her. Sara works as an accountant. She realizes what business her boyfriend's family is really in, crime. She plans to run away and plans well so she thought. Sara decides to head to Billings after meeting a woman on a bus. It sounds good to her.

When Sara gets to Billings she gets a job and is living in a hotel. As she is waiting for a person to help her find apartment she receives a package. She takes it up to her room and Nancy Stewart from the property management company comes with her. To talk about what she wants in a place to live. Sara is afraid that Conner has found her and sent the package.

Sara does not want to open it but does. Nancy asks to see the ring and while she is looking at it she is bitten by a spider. She immediately reacts to it. Sara calls 911 for help. After the ambulance is gone Sara runs into Brett. Brett offers to go with her to the hospital to give him just a few minutes. Before they are ready to follow Nancy to the hospital she gets a bunch of messages asking what hospital they took Nancy too. Nancy has disappeared. There is no record of Sara calling 911.

Sara calls the police and tells them what happened. They will look into it and find Nancy. Nancy has disappeared. Soon more people are being bitten and disappear. Sara even gets bitten but she is okay. She keeps finding spiders more and more spiders. The hotel is sprayed twice. Brett and Sara leave the hotel and move into Brett's co-workers house while he is out of state working.

Sara is not sure what to believe is going on. She has weird dreams and starting to suspect Brett and everyone around her.

If you like spiders and creepy mystery that keeps you guessing you will like this story. If you hate spiders worse than me skip this. I was not kidding about leaving the lights on tonight. I had better not see a spider.

I was given this ebook and asked in return to give honest review of it and be part of the blog tour.

When I started reading this I have to admit to my eyebrows raising and thinking where on earth is this book trying to go?! I really didn't get into the book right away, however, and this is a HUGE however, once it clicked into place as to where the story may be heading I was caught in the web (I know huge groan) of the plot and couldn't put it down.

The story is about a 24year old woman who has run from her boyfriend of 3 years having discovered what his family business entails. Sara thinks that she has hidden her trail well but when a ring arrives at the hotel where she is staying containing a poisonous spider as a gift for her and bites another woman who then disappears she thinks that the family may have managed to catch up with her. She moves out of the hotel into a house belonging to a friend of her new boyfriend, Brett.

However when strange things start to happen when she is sleeping and Brett starts to behave strangely she has to get away. Who can she trust and what is happening to her.

The story is well written and I loved the suspense aspect of it. At one point I was worried that the book may end up being too long upon looking at how much I had read at one point. I was thinking how can they fill the rest of the story but oh boy did they fill it!!

The story, once going, gallops along at a great pace with many twists and turns along the way. It is hard to say too much about why I enjoyed specific parts of the book and why it gripped me like it did as it would give away too much of the plot. All I can say is that it is a great suspense book with a twist. I can't explain that twist too much as it will really ruin the story.

Please note I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I'm not quite sure what I was expecting from this book, but it wasn't exactly what I got. I thought, you know... spiders (seriously shuddering here). It's going to be something creepy, maybe keep me awake at night with the lights on and a fly swatter in my hands. That's not exactly what happened.

Aside from the fact that I find spiders to be incredibly creepy, I did enjoy this story. What upped the "ick" factor for me is the fact that I can see some scientist crazy enough to attempt what a character in the story succeeded at. And if I tell you what that is, then why would you bother to read the story for yourself, hmm?

This story is very well written, well edited and completely believable in a crazy scientist who's gone around the bend kind of way. The experiment that is the back story this book is set around has its own pitfalls for some characters. There are the expected good guys and bad guys. When you think you know which characters fall into which category, Goss changes it up on you.

The characters have a depth that makes the events that happen to them believable. Could reality as we know it be skewed sideways by some crazy in a lab? You betcha. Goss brings a level of believability to her writing in much the same way Stephan King did in his epic, The Stand. That alone makes her work worthy of reading. Unlike King's book, The Tegan Cave is not an apocalyptic story. Should Goss decide to continue writing, I can see a time when her name will be as well-known as Stephen King. Take a chance on this author. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

In spite of the spiders, I had a difficult time setting the book aside. I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review.

The Tegen Cave is the first book in which a Prologue gave me chills. A few chapters in and I realized TTC was not a nighttime read for me, even though I don't consider myself that squeamish. I haven't worn pantyhose in ages, but wearing a body stocking to bed might have been the only way for me to read at night.

The spider on the cover makes readers believe TTC will be overwhelmingly filled with those sweet little creatures, however it's not the spiders causing all the chills up and down ones spine. As I continued reading this book, I wanted to write author, Inge-Lise Goss, and ask, "How do you come up with this stuff?" A story unlike anything I've ever read, began with "Dark Shadows" overtones, yet rapidly went modern day with twists and turns I could not fathom.

To label TTC a psychological thriller is an understatement, because its physical and emotional twists and turns accelerate it into a chilling and addictive genre-crossed tale. This novel delves much deeper into it's lead character, Sara, who is relatable as a woman on the run, not knowing who to trust after her fiancé duped her, and his mafia family wants to forever silence her. Your heart rate might soar as you turn pages hoping Sara doesn't fall prey to one of the untrustworthy people in her life or become crippled from the one thing that is currently saving her from toxic spiders. You might want to reserve TTC for daytime reading, but you'll definitely want a sequel. Keep writing, Ms. Goss!

*Unsuitable for YA audiences and those with a weak heart, but I highly recommend The Tegen Cave for all readers.

A Spider’s Web of Crime and Corruption

Escaping from her boyfriend, Conner, and his mafia-style life of organized crime, Sara Jones becomes a silent hero in this tangled web of mystery and suspense.

Spiders remain busy spinning a murderous web when they are signaled by a unique sound heard only by spiders. Possessing poisonous venom, the spiders complete their mission consistently.

Sara learns she is immune to the poison, and this is where the story begins to build up suspense on every page.

Caught in a web of deceit, Sara isn’t sure who to trust, Conner, the gorgeous hunk of a boyfriend who entangled her into his life of crime, or the other gorgeous hunk of a boyfriend, Brett, who replaces Conner. Yes, there’s plenty of sex interweaved with horror and violence in The Tegen Cave.

Keeping up with Sara’s libido as she tries to spin a web of moral survival is incredibly entertaining. All the characters become real in this particular world of spiders and creative fiction by Inge-Lise Goss.

Appreciating extraordinary writing was a pleasure. I was engaged throughout the story as there was never a predictable event. I’m hoping for a sequel to The Tegan Cave, by Inge-Lise Goss.

The author puts the main protagonist Sarah in a situation being caught between two forces, one she has come to abhor, and one she is afraid of because it is shrouded in mystery of the unbelievable kind.

Sarah has to come to terms with all the lies that have populated her life and decide what she believes is the truth and how to move forward. There are a number of different story lines and different people involved, which is the reason it took me a good while to understand what is really going on and to figure out who the bad guy is. I liked the build up of tension between what seems two bad sides which Sarah has to choose from.

The author did a good job in creating another kind of world occupied by special people where spiders form a central point in their lives. Even though I hate spiders, it was ok to read about them. I liked the spin the author gave the story, even if some of the habits of this group are quite repulsive.

The story is well put together, its composition keeps the tension going. It is creative and original. I was disappointed, however, to learn so little about the Tegen cave, especially since that is the title of the book.

We meet Sara as she has run off to the town of Billings to hide from her boyfriend's crime family organization. Sara doesn't want to be a part of the juvenile sex trafficking and other illegal dealings that entails the Crussett family business. To add to Sara's confusion, spiders keep coming after her. I thought the Tegen heritage was creepy although original paranormal idea and left Sara with a very hard decision to make. I liked that the sex scenes although plentiful were kept small. I felt that they helped to explain the intensity of urges that Sara was experiencing without making the story off track. The author did a good job of setting up the story and developing the characters.

The story pace started out pretty quick then slowed when the additional story lines were added in. I am not fond of 1st person because it tends to start slow but the story has quick start that pulls the reader in. The only thing I didn't like about the story was the creepiness that came with her bizarre Tegen heritage. I think it would be hard for me to adjust as quickly as Sara did to being adopted. Overall, good read for those who love horror thrillers mixed with suspense.

For one thing, this book did keep me awake while trying to get to the end, missing some things I should have been doing that day, but it was worth it.

As we follow the main person Sara in her struggle to find her own way her life, we find her stumbling with new feelings when she's not ready for them, getting lost in them, feeling sorry she followed them and then back to the start.

But that is not the main thing why the story grips your attention. It's full of spiders (yes, if you're afraid of them, you will get to know the bad side of them, but also the good way of threating them) and of bad guys that turn out to be not that impossible, together with good guys that are not as innocent as you would love them.

On the other hand, make sure you keep your attention focused while reading, as some facts are hidden nicely away and you could miss them in a first glimps!

The story is nicely closed by the end, with still some possibility to write a follow-up. I'm very much looking forward to getting to know more books by this writer, certainly worth your time!

The Tegen Cave by Inge-Lise Goss is an amazingly different paranormal thriller that will set readers' skin crawling in more ways than one. Spiders! And lots of them, the kind that leave a person paralyzed or worse, oooooooooh gave me the shudders and that is a sign of a great author. Kudos to Inge-Lise.
Sara James escapes her possessive boyfriend, who happens to be a member of a crime family, and reboots her life in Montana. She meets Brett and Sara's life seems to be on track until those spiders turn up. Sara learns she is immune to spiders' venom and this revelation sends her on a journey of discovery of the paranormal kind. This great novel is one heck of a page-turner from the opening page and never lets up pace and the sex scenes are titillatingly sensual without being graphic. With a great female protagonist and a plot that twists with every chapter a star is born. This must be a movie and soon.
Very highly recommended for lovers of paranormal thrillers.

Very suspenseful book! The author had me sucked into this book right from the beginning. The main character Sara Jones is trying to start a new life apart from her boyfriend who's family that is into criminal activity. She meets different people along her travels that lead her to another state where strange occurrences with spiders keep happening. A news team is there to cover the story and her ex and his family discover where she is. This is where the story gets real exciting and has you wondering who is good and who is bad!

I don not like to reveal too much of a story to ruin it for other readers. In my opinion this is a must read for those who like books with twists and turns through out the book all the way to the end. I would love to see a sequel to this book, I think the author could keep this story going with a few more books.
