Join us for a timely panel discussion about the protests across the country in the context of U.S. history and the First Amendment. Hear insights from people on the ground and experts on the issues. A Q&A will follow the presentation.

Panelists are:

Ashley Howard, an assistant professor of African American history at the University of Iowa, who has studied the 1960s resistance to racialized oppression

Ryan Haas, news editor with Oregon Public Broadcasting who has led a team covering the Portland protests

Ken Paulson, director of MTSU’s Free Speech Center

• Moderator: Keonte Coleman, assistant professor in the School of Journalism and Strategic Media at MTSU

Presented by the John Seigenthaler Chair of Excellence in First Amendment Studies and the Free Speech Center, both in the College of Media and Entertainment.
