State of Romance: How about some comfort and joy in Washington state?

A Bride in the Bargain by Deeanne Gist.

My holiday wreath arrived from Washington state, aptly named the Evergreen State for its Christmas tree farms. In honor of Christmas, we explore romances set in Washington state.

Deeanne Gist reminds us of Seattle's past with A Bride in the Bargain. Meanwhile, a costume designer travels through time from modern Seattle to medieval England in Lynn Kurland's One Enchanted Evening.

Kristin Hannah explores the Evergreen State in her contemporary romances Firefly Lane in Seattle, Night Road in Pine Island and Comfort and Joy in Raine Valley.

How about Seattle in the title? There is Seattle Girl by Lucy Kevin, Seattle Cinderella from Gail Sattler, Seattle After Midnight by CJ Carmichael and Vicki Lewis Thompson's Werewolf in Seattle.

Seattle is the place for series, including Kristen Proby's Come Away With Me (With Me); Rachel Gibson's See Jane Score (Chinook Hockey), Susan Mallery's Sweet Talk (Bakery Sisters), Susan Andersen's Cutting Loose (Sisterhood Diaries) and Debbie Macomber's Twenty Wishes (Blossom Street).

Single titles from the Washington state include Marie Harte's The Troublemaker Next Door, Janet Evanovich's The Grand Finale and Jayne Ann Krentz's Perfect Partners.

Paranormal is king in the Pacific Northwest with Richelle Mead's Succubus Blues, Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Side of the Moon, Yasmine Galenorn's Witchling, Larissa Ione's Bound by Night, Marjorie M. Lui's The Iron Hunt, Jennifer Ashley's The Calling and Jayne Ann Krentz's Fired Up.

Cozy mystery is alive and well thanks to Leslie Budewitz's Assault and Pepper (Seattle Spice Shop), Waverly Curtis' The Chihuahua Always Sniffs Twice (Barking Detective) and India Ink's Scent to Her Grave (Bath and Body). Bonus trivia: India Ink is the alter ego of a paranormal author named above. Give up? Yasmine Galenorn.

Romance lights up the holiday season with Debbie Macomber's Christmas in Seattle, Jami Davenport's Christmas Break and Stephanie Wilson's Home for Christmas.

My favorite title set in Washington state is Lisa Cach's Have Glass Slippers, Will Travel. I've got my bag packed!

Next week we end the year in West Virginia.
