The TL Governor and music alum will co-lead a collaborative group of label reps for this year’s Awards, championing culture and community.

The BRIT Awards have revealed this year’s BRITs Committee will be led by President of EMI Records and Trinity Laban music graduate Rebecca Allen alongside Selina Webb, Executive Vice President of Universal Music UK.

Made up of major and independent record label representatives, the 2021 committee will lead collaboratively with more of a community feel. The team have already been working on innovative ideas to evolve the Awards. This fresh approach is designed to reach a wider audience and reflect the industry as it responds to the pandemic.

With a standing commitment to refreshing the Voting Academy annually, to ensure the most relevant and diverse experts are deciding on the shortlists, this year will also see the categories shaken up to reflect a more inclusive industry.

Speaking about the new 2021 team Rebecca Allen and Selina Webb said –

“However the world is looking come May, our ambition is not for a “normal” BRITs but a show which truly reflects the spirit of the past year. Working alongside the 2021 BRITs Committee, we have an exceptional creative team with Sally Wood, Es Devlin OBE and Yinka Ilori MBE to deliver the best and most exciting show possible – a BRITs about collaboration, culture and community as well as a celebration of some of the brilliant music which is helping us all through.”

The 2021 BRIT Awards will be held on 11 May at the O2 and be broadcast live on ITV.

Rebecca Allen graduated from Trinity Laban (then Trinity College of Music) in 1995. She started her career in the BBC Symphony Orchestra and later the BBC Proms. Rebecca joined Universal Classics and Jazz in 1999 and remained with the label after it was re-named Decca Records UK where she became President. Rebecca is also a Governor for Trinity Laban.
