Rochester Has A New Station

Alan Bishop’s Finger Lakes Radio Group has strategically placed two translators in Rochester, New York, and announced a new station. WCGR, licensed to Canandaigua, is now known as “The Lake,” an “Easy Rock” format featuring music from the 70s, 80s, and 90s from artists like the Eagles, Tom Petty, James Taylor, and Bruce Springsteen. It can be heard on 100.1 and 104.5.

Bishop said, “We’ve been very fortunate to be able to take advantage of the FCC’s AM revitalization plan with two translators that will bring a 250-watt daytimer back to life. Now covering Canandaigua and much of the Rochester metro, we wanted to do something completely different. So, we created The Lake featuring music no one else plays in the market.”

The Lake is currently running 10,000 songs in a row without any commercials.
