Thanksgiving break
End of November in the US means
Thanksgiving! This is the most popular holidays for the US students. It allows
them to go back home to see their families and to share the thanksgiving dinner.
Thanksgiving is just the last Thursday of November but the holidays at UT also
include the following Friday which is famously known as the “Black Friday”, day
of massive promotions in stores. For the occasion we went to an outlet which
was open all night long from Thursday 6:00 PM to avoid the crowd.
The Smokies
We took advantage of this break to explore places of Tennessee some of us haven’t been yet. First of all we went to the Great Smoky Mountains about an hour from Knoxville. The first visited American National Park is full of beautiful hikes across the Tennessean woods and hills. We went to the Max Patch Mountain, one of the highest hill of the Smokies, from where we admired a beautiful sunset.

Nashville
The following day we went to Nashville, capital of Tennessee but more especially capital of the country music. We felt the country music atmosphere all around the streets even more in the main street Broadway. The street is mainly full of bars hosting country music concerts and you can also buy country goodies such as hats or boots in one of the numerous shops filling the street. I visited the huge Country Music museum who recounts the history of the Country Music in Nashville. It explains the role of the city as the main recording studio of the US. Lot of today’s big names recorded their first or their most famous songs in the “Music City” such as Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan or Dolly Parton.
