5 Things To Do Before Buying a Used Couch

Are you in the market for a new couch? If so, you know that even the cheapest models can set you back quite a bit of money.

Fortunately, you have other options. For example, you could purchase a used couch at a local estate sale. This is one of the best ways to get what you want at an affordable price.

If you find yourself heading down this path, there are five things you should first do:

·      Sit on it. This is job number one, as it will tell you a lot about the couch itself. Are the cushions flat? Do they need replaced? Do they still have some good life left in them? Test it how you use it at home. Guys, this means laying down with a TV in front of you!

·      Check the tags. By doing this, you can learn more about the origin of the couch. There is a big difference between an Ikea couch and one manufactured by a high end designer.

·      Simple fixes are no big deal. Since you’re buying used, don’t be afraid of a few defects. Most of these, such as a leg with a few scratches, can be fixed in no time at all.

·      Run from the smell. Let’s put it this way: if the couch has any odor attached to it, it’s best to move on.

·      Know if it’s a deal. If you know what a new couch costs, you can quickly determine if the price tag suits your budget. Once you realize you’re getting a good deal, make your move.
