(JULIE BENNETT)
-- Staff changes may be on the way, but moves are not expected to be made until after Auburn plays Wisconsin in the Outback Bowl.
Defensive coordinator
Will Muschamp
will be given the freedom to build his own staff, but potential moves have not yet been discussed between
Gus Malzahn
and the former Florida coach, Malzahn said Friday.
"We have not talked about it," Malzahn said. "We're just trying to give these guys the best plan to win the bowl game. We'll talk about that at a later date."
The uncertainty on the staff affected the recruitment of safety
Tony Bridges
, who stuck with Ole Miss after a late push by Muschamp last week. The Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College star told
The Sun Herald
he sensed uncertainty on Auburn's staff before signing with the Rebels on Wednesday.
"(Muschamp) looked at tape of me and said 'I really need you,' this and that. I have love for them because they showed me love, so I can't say nothing bad about them,"
. "That being said, it was too late. I didn't know which way the defensive coaches, like (cornerbacks coach) Melvin Smith, was he going to be there or not?
"I think some stuff was going on that he hasn't figured out yet. I haven't got time going into school doubting."
No. 19 Auburn plays No. 18 Wisconsin in the Outback Bowl on Jan. 1 (11 a.m. CT, ESPN2).
