Carrie Johnson's Christmas singing continues

CONTRIBUTED

For the nineteenth year, the "Voice of Lincolnville" Carrie Johnson invites the community to participate in a Christmas caroling excursion.

The yearly event began in 1995, and this year it will take place Monday. Participants are asked to gather at the Willie Galimore Center at 5 p.m. From there, the group will go to Buckingham Smith and BayView nursing homes and St. Joseph Convent. Transportation will be provided by one of the Red Trains. All are invited, but children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult.

Johnson also welcomes contributions to the Miss Carrie Foundation for Homeless Students. Approximately 800 students in St. Johns County schools were identified as homeless during the 2013-14 school year, and these children need help and support to maintain some degree of normalcy in their school and family lives. Foundation contributions can be sent to St. Francis House, 70 Washington St., St. Augustine, Fla. 32084. Contribution checks should be made out to St. Francis House with Miss Carrie Foundation specified in the memo.

Johnson's Christmas singing will also be saluted on Tuesday with a special holiday tribute essay presented at the Swamp Radio Christmas show at Lewis Auditorium.
