(PIX11)– The seconds it took for Tyisha Griffiths to open an email from Princeton University felt like an eternity.

When she saw the word, “congratulations,” Griffiths and her classmates erupted in excitement.

The Bronx resident and Senior at Democracy Prep Charter High School applied for early admissions to Princeton. Despite her stellar grades, Griffiths wasn’t sure if the school would accept her. She is a first generation college student in her family and moved to New York City when she was 3 years old.

One of her classmates recorded the teen’s candid reaction while she opened the email from Princeton, and the video of their response has now been viewed more than 200,000 times online.
