Vauxhall has confirmed that it will be building a called eCorsa.

The car manufacturer announced the name for the new EV today alongside plans to introduce a new version of the standard combustion-engine Corsa.

Its design and size will resemble that of the popular hatchback but features some elements indicative of an electric car, such as a faux grille.

From an image leaked of what appears to be the new electric Corsa, the car will launch with a bold new design

It retains the overall shape of the standard car and looks about the same size but has an extensively updated front end.

This includes a completely reimagined bumper, shorter but taller bonnet, and redesigned grille.

As the car does not need a traditional grille to cool the engine it features a smooth curve with the Vauxhall badge fixed in the centre of it instead.

There are muscular lines across the shortened bonnet - which will more than likely function as a crumple zone/frunk.

It also features a sharp new headlight design signature that underscores the join between the bonnet and car’s faux grille.

Whether or not some of these design choices will feature on the standard car, which is set to launch in 2019, has yet to be confirmed.

Vauxhall will also launch a hybrid version of the Grandland X SUV at the same time as the eCorsa.

Michael Lohscheller, CEO of Opel/Vauxhall, said two other electrified vehicles will go on sale by 2020

Through doing this it will allow Vauxhall cars to used engines and gearboxes that are currently used in Peugeot and DS vehicles.
