Artists with Disabilities Showcase Talents at Margaret Clark Morgan Foundation Art Exhibition

(Tallmadge, Ohio) – Summit County Developmental Disabilities Board (Summit DD) invites the community to the opening reception for its Dream Out Loud Studio art exhibition. The reception will be held at the Margaret Clark Morgan Foundation gallery, 10 W. Streetsboro Street in Hudson, on January 15, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Summit DD’s Dream Out Loud Studio is an art studio where fine artists with developmental disabilities have the opportunity to hone creative skills, enjoy personal expression, gain independence, and flourish, both as artists and valuable members of the community.

Senior Program Officer of the Margaret Clark Morgan Foundation, Brenda Schneider, talked about the importance of highlighting artists of all abilities. “Accessibility is the biggest impact in the arts,” Schneider stated. “Accessibility to art, and to those who create it. Art engages community. People can meet and talk to the artists, and find out that it is being created by people just like them.”

The mission of the Margaret Clark Morgan Foundation is to improve the lives of people with serious mental illness by investing in innovative projects in Northeast Ohio. The Foundation also supports the arts in Summit County and hosts several exhibitions each year in its gallery. More information about the gallery and the foundation can be found at mcmfdn.org.

The January 15th reception kicks off the exhibition, which runs through March 4th. During this time, more than 30 pieces of art will be displayed at the Hudson gallery.  Artwork ranges from pieces by individual Summit DD artists to collaborative works by multiple artists.

“This is a great opportunity to showcase the artists’ work,” commented Summit DD’s Business Innovations Manager, Jacquie Owens, about the gallery exhibition. “It’s an honor to be part of this because the Foundation touches so many in the community through its generous work.”
