Drive-In Move FAQ (studentlife@forsythtech.edu)

Can I bring someone who is not a student? Yes. At least one guest per vehicle must be a current Forsyth Tech student, faculty, or staff member. The student is required to show a photo ID or other proof of student status. You may have a valid photo ID and pull up your current schedule on your phone if you do not have a Forsyth Tech ID.

Can I purchase food and drinks at the drive-in? Concessions will be provided by Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and 100% of the proceeds will support student scholarships and conference fees. Also, the Forsyth Tech student Food Pantry will open soon and needs food items. Donations will be collected at the drive-in movie events. Please support our pantry.

What type of food will be sold at concessions? Masks are required at concessions. Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society members will provide concessions to raise money for student scholarships and conference fees. Concessions will include water, a variety of drinks, popcorn, candy, hot dogs, and pizza.

Is alcohol allowed at drive-ins? No. Alcohol is prohibited and not allowed on any Forsyth Tech campus location.

Can I sit outside at the drive-in? Yes, you may sit outside your vehicle. However, you must observe safe social distancing of at least six feet from others and their vehicle. You may also bring a lawn chair to sit in outside your vehicle.

How do I hear the movie at the drive-in? The movie will likely be converted to FM Radio to broadcast the audio. If you plan to sit outside your vehicle, take a portable radio. However, we may opt to broadcast on speakers if the city will allow.

When should I get to the drive-in? The first drive-in movie will begin at dusk (approximately 7 pm). Vehicles may begin arriving at 6:30 PM on the day of the show. You should plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before showtime to get parked, make a run to the concession stand, and etc.

Are there any special rules for parking? A parking attendant will assist each Forsyth Tech member to their parking space based on vehicle size and whether you plan to stay for a single feature or the double feature. We will require large trucks and SUVs to park in the back row or on the sides. Open hatches will be allowed but may be placed with large trucks and SUV's depending on the height of the hatchback door. If you have any questions, ask an attendant and he or she will be happy to help you.

What if I have to use the restroom? Masks are required in order to enter the building. Building access will be granted solely for restroom use. Staff and Campus Police will be available for assisting guests and for emergencies. There will be limited access to the campus building. At the Transportation Technology Center, students and their guests will be allowed to enter the main entrance door to access restrooms in the lobby area. For Main Campus, the Carolina Building side entrance will be open, and guests will be escorted to the restrooms. Guests are restricted from having access to other areas of the building.

Can I smoke at the drive-in since it is outside? No. All Forsyth Tech campuses are tobacco-free. Smoking, vaping, and other related products are prohibited.

Do I have to stay to watch both movies of a double feature? No. You can always leave whenever you want.

What will happen if it rains? We will announce any cancellations ahead of the expected time. The rain date for the Transportation Center is Friday, Nov. 6 and for Main Campus is Saturday, Oct. 31.

What if my car battery dies while I am at the drive-in? Unless you have a bad battery, that should not happen. But to prevent it from happening, put your car in Accessory mode if using your car radio to listen to the movie. And start your car once during the movie for a few minutes to charge the battery. If the rare case that your battery does die, go to the concession area and notify the staff. Campus Police will have the equipment to jump start your car which they will do when the movie is over.

How do I turn off the daytime running lights on my vehicle which stay on when I have it in accessory mode? Every vehicle is different. Please consult your vehicle's owner manual before arriving at the drive-in.
