23,000 terror suspects on the radar of counter-terror agencies over jihadi fears
Jenny Taylior
UP to 23,000 people have appeared on the radar of counter-terror agencies, figures show.
It has already emerged that the UK authorities are holding 500 probes into 3,000 individuals.
Yesterday, sources said that 20,000 people had previously been considered “subjects of interest” although the time period covered was not clear.
Security minister Ben Wallace said: “All those people are in the mix.”
Meanwhile, independent peer Lord Carlile said it was a “grave mistake” to abolish control orders to monitor terror suspects.
