Third annual Safe + Sound Week set for Aug. 12-18

Save the date: Safe + Sound Week

Washington — OSHA, NIOSH and a number of safety organizations – including the National Safety Council – are teaming up for the third annual Safe + Sound Week, set for Aug. 12-18.

This year’s event is designed to “celebrate the successes of businesses that have implemented safety and health programs in the workplace.” Employers of all sizes and from all industries that seek to recognize their commitment to the safety of workers, customers, the public and supply chain partners are encouraged to participate.

“You can host an event just for your workers or host a public event to engage your community,” OSHA suggests. “After you’ve completed your events, you can download a certificate and web badge to recognize your organization and your workers.”

In addition, employers can sign up for a monthly newsletter and share their activities or events on social media channels. The OSHA website includes links to more information, a brochure and a webinar titled, “Three Core Elements of Effective Safety and Health Programs.”

“Serious job-related injuries or illnesses don’t just hurt workers and their families, but can hurt business in a variety of ways,” OSHA states. “Implementing a safety and health program, however, can improve small and medium-sized businesses’ safety and health performance, save money, and improve competitiveness.”
