If your 2015 mantra is “New Year, New You,” then kick-start a clean living lifestyle during Wellness Foundation of East Hampton’s “Winter Wellness Challenge.” Whether the holiday sweets got the better of you this year or are just looking for help making a life change, the six-week program assists participants with step-by-step guidance.
The “Winter Wellness Challenge” is designed to aid participants lose weight, lower cholesterol and reduce prescription drug usage, all while eating heart healthy, tasty, and nourishing meals.
“I applaud the Wellness Foundation for promoting a diet rich in vegetables, whole grains and fruits, while lowering the consumption of processed foods, meat, and dairy,” expressed Blake Kerr, MD. “All of my patients who took the Wellness Challenge benefited from reductions in their serum glucose, triglycerides, and cholesterol. They also felt better.”
The program starts the week of Monday, January 19th. Challengers can choose from weekly meetings held in Bridgehampton, East Hampton, Hampton Bays, or Southampton. During the gatherings, they will receive comprehensive guidance to create a healthy body and lifestyle through lectures, discussions, cooking demos, food samples, and more.
Since 2009, the Wellness Foundation has sponsored Wellness Challenges on the East End, each of which has achieved significant results in weight loss as well as lowered cholesterol for committed participants. “I am a happy and healthy graduate of the Wellness Challenge, joining the ranks of many in the Southampton Hospital family who have completed this wonderful program,” noted Allen Fein, MD. “Besides dropping about 15 pounds, my fasting blood glucose dropped from almost 160 to 106! I have recommended the Wellness Challenge to dozens of patients already.”
Admission to the “Winter Wellness Challenge” is $150, and includes The Wellness Challenge Guidebook, Wellness Challenge Jumpstart Guide, food for demonstrations and tastings, and other supplies.
