Android 7.0 could launch next month; no Nougat for the Nexus 5?
According to reliable tipster Evan Blass, Google will start disseminating Android 7.0 Nougat next month, along with the August security update. The missive sent out by Blass is not going to make Nexus 5 owners happy. According to the man once known by his @evleaks Twitter handle, the LG built Nexus 5 will not be receiving Android 7.0. The phone will still receive security updates for the time being.

A new Android build usually means new Nexus phones. HTC is manufacturing both handsets with a plastic 5.2-inch unit code named Sailfish (S-1), and a metal clad 5.5-inch phone code named Marlin (M-1). HTC was the company behind the very first phone in the series, the Nexus One. We could see the new stock Android handsets late in the third quarter or early in the fourth`quarter.

Despite precautions, things happen. Or to put it another way, man plans and God laughs. A gentleman by the name of Brian Moyano posted a very interesting story on Reddit. Moyano's Nexus 6P accidentally received an OTA update that included an internal Google build of Android 7.0 used for internal testing. The build number contained an "R" rather than a "P" indicating that this is a "release" version, and not a "preview" file. This could be an indication that Google is very close to wrapping things up. Moyano, who had the presence of mind to grab some screenshots, said he received the 49MB file while trying to go back from the Android Developer Preview version of Android 7.0, to Marshmallow.
