Apr 26, 2017, 11:19 PM

April 26 | The Cycling Podcast remembers Michele Scarponi, who was tragically killed while out training near his home in Italy at the weekend just days after winning a stage of the Tour of the Alps.
Richard Moore, Lionel Birnie and Daniel Friebe discuss the Italian’s career and popularity in the peloton and hear from former Astana press officer Chris Baldwin who worked with Scarponi for a few seasons.

In this episode there’s also a review of the final spring Classic of the season Liège-Bastogne-Liège, which was won for the fourth time by Alejandro Valverde. Richard asks whether the Spaniard’s blistering form so far this year makes him a contender for the Tour de France…

And there’s a look ahead to the Tour de Yorkshire and a word from the man behind the race, Sir Gary Verity.
