In preparation for the annual featured video at the State of the University, we are asking for submissions of short video clips and photos from all 64 SUNY campuses.
The “visual theme” for this year’s video is “the selfie.” What this means is that the contributions should have the appearance that students/faculty/alumni are taking a picture or video of themselves. This can come from the student’s own phone or with the help of a campus photographer/videographer, as long as it has the feel that a it was taken by oneself. The final product will come together as a compilation of a really exciting day on a SUNY campus, through the eyes of our SUNY family.
With that in mind, we are looking for fun video clips and photos that showcase the various aspects of day-to-day life at SUNY. Examples might include:
- Going to eat in the dining hall
- Getting ready for class
- Cheering at a sporting event
- Displaying school spirit wearing any form of school apparel or memorabilia
- Posing with a school mascot
- Students in various classroom settings (labs, discussions, lectures)
- Hanging around with friends on campus
- Participating in an applied learning experience (internship, community service, etc.)
- Graduation
Submissions are not limited to just these suggestions, and creativity is encouraged. As long as it comes from the perspective of a student/faculty/alumni and captures the spirit of your campus, it will work. Keep in mind that submissions work best in a horizontal/landscape angle and of high resolution.
Video and photo contributions can be submitted to [email protected], or by using the hashtag #SUNYselfie on Twitter and Facebook.
In addition, to ensure that all campuses are represented (and represented well), we ask that campus communications offices also submit student “selfies” they have organized. Please send 5-10 of these so that there are plenty of options and we can build everyone into this “day in the life” concept for the video. Video selfies, as opposed to photos, are definitely preferred so that the compilation does not become a slideshow.
