Duchess Meghan wears navy Givenchy to Princess Eugenie’s wedding

Princess Eugenie wedding

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived together, obviously, for his cousin’s Friday wedding. Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s wedding arrivals were structured much like Meghan and Harry’s wedding, although the Sussexes and Cambridges didn’t want to take attention away from the bride, so they walked quickly inside from their cars.

I immediately got pregnancy vibes from Meghan in the broadcast, seeing her in motion. But I have to say, in these photos, I’m not getting the same vibes. Meghan wore a Givenchy coatdress in a rather staid navy blue. The coat has a vintage flavor, like something Jackie Kennedy would have worn. It has… buttons. Not big, shiny buttons, but still. Noticeable buttons. Meghan also wore a smallish hat by Noel Stewart. She looks lovely, and perfectly appropriate for a wedding guest.

My first thought looking at the photos was preggers!

    • Miss M says:

      Mine too…

    • anna says:

Mine too, but honestly, we are talking about Meg so the fit is probably just as bad as always… nothing more

      • Milla says:

We just saw her in leather skirt. If she’s pregnant it isn’t showing yet. I have no idea why she wore the coat all the time. Maybe she was cold?

    • Eliza says:

She only buttoned the top two buttons on her coat, so the rest of the coat billowed out. You can’t see the dress underneath because everything is that deep navy. She could be hiding something, or it could be jackie-o styling.

    • Cas says:

Wasn’t she wearing a relatively tight leather pencil skirt about a week ago? With a totally flat stomach?

      • BW says:

^^^ THIS. She looked perfectly slim in that leather pencil skirt a week ago. I think she just wanted to not pull any attention from the bride, and went super conservative.

      • Veronica says:

You can go from looking completely normal to looking pregnant very quickly. One day, your stomach just literally pops out and you can’t hide it any longer.

    • Ifeoma says:

      Me too.

    • Genessee says:

      Maybe she’s just bloated?

    • TandemBikeEscapee says:

I read preggers as well! She usually BRINGS it! Not that pregger = not looking great, but the early stage is disconcerting. In my 1st trimester, the last thing I gave Fs about was leaving the house.

    • Heidi says:

Seems like she wore the coat buttoned that way for the speculation and attention that she’s now getting

    • Lilly says:

      Awwwww. Pregnancy just announced.

    • Lunde says:

The Palace have announced the pregnancy – due in the spring

  2. Sarah Joanne says:

If Kate had worn the exact same thing, you’d have been doing your usual shrieking about the buttons.

    • Becks1 says:

It’s because Kate’s coats ALWAYS have big shiny buttons lol. Meghan so far has not fallen into that pattern.

I feel like this gets said all the time, but the button thing is just a longstanding joke. It’s not like Kaiser actually hates all buttons.

    • Belluga says:

      1) Context. Kate is Duchess of Buttons, Meghan is Duchess of Belts.

      2) Screeching? I think you’re taking the fact that Kate loves her big shiny buttons and wears them often enough for us to giggle a bit too seriously.

    • Hikaru says:

Well it’s a coat, it’s not like it can be without buttons?

      • Elephant says:

You would think, but have you tried buying a coat this season? Buttonless coats everywhere! I dont know what are you supposed to do with a coat without buttons.

      • Milla says:

        They have belts. Ni buttons
And Meg wore few coats with no buttons at all. Speaking of buttons, did you see the Queen? Now that’s one heck of a button collection for one outfit.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

We don’t shriek, we take the p!ss.

    • Clare says:

      @sarah Joanne

Don’t worry darlin’ I’m shrieking about Kate’s shoulder puffs on the other thread 😂

      • Jan90067 says:

I like Meg’s outfit. Def. has that “look”, but I wouldn’t think she’d get pregnant before the tour. Guess we’ll know if she doesn’t go to Tonga!

Is that hat a repeat? And I have to admit, I love buttons, too 😊

Isn’t Kate’s dress the same style wore to Trooping last year? But that one. was a mauve/rose shade; today is more wine/magenta. Yup, found it: 2017 TOTC: https://www.cosmopolitan.com/uk/fashion/celebrity/g21093563/kate-middleton-trooping-the-colour-dresses/

I also notice that NO ONE is screaming about Eugenie’s tendrils, as they did with Meghan’s. It was a calamity that Meg had “hair curled around her ears), but crickets today. Interesting…

    • Becca says:

Celebitchy is weirdly obsessed with buttons

      • HadleyB says:

        And bangs.

      • NYCTYPE says:

@ Becca : My best friend since age 4, always had bangs and looked great.
Two years ago, at age 30, she decides that she doesn’t want bangs anymore.
Very big mistake, huge mistake. Not everybody can wear bangs and not everybody looks good without bangs.
I hate any shiny buttons, looks so very tacky.

      • lobbit says:

        And sausage curls

    • Anastasia says:

I don’t really get the hatred for buttons. Some of these coats HAVE to have buttons. What else would they have? Velcro? Little ties?

I mean I guess you could do a couple of hidden inner buttons and a belt, but that still wouldn’t do up the whole coat.

      • Miss M says:

I don’t understand this negativity towards buttons. In fact, depending on the color and details buttons can really make the cloths interesting. Signed someone with a childhood friend that has a family business built on creating buttons. But what do I know?!

      • JanetDR says:

Sometimes they can be excessive 😃.

      • Ashby says:

        @ Anastasia :

Yes, buttons are often needed, like on a silk blouse or a crisp white dress shirt or a winter coat.
I really hate the shiny buttons, sorry, but those are hideous and tacky.
Kate sometimes loves buttons on things that could do without buttons, just like Meghan sometimes wears a belt that is not really necessary.

      • TandemBikeEscapee says:

My grandmother said buttons make or break a garment, she had a drawer full from otherwise worn out items. The drawer was treasure trove. I STILL cut plastic buttons off & replace w pewter, stirling, bone…ANYTHING but plastic!

      • Princessk says:

I keep a button tin, something my mother did and also her mother probably.

    • JANE says:

I’m sorry, but I rarely like what Kate wears and I did so way before I’ve ever knew of Meghan Markle’s existence.
Kate often manages to dress immature and dowdy at the same time. (with the skin-tight jeggings, the fly-away skirts, the big shiny buttons and the huge hoof like wedges with 3 and 4 inch heels)
To each his own, but to me buttons are no problem unless there are too many, too often and I ABSOLUTELY HATE SHINY BUTTONS, I find it very tacky and cheesy.
Meghan is mostly dressed classy and appropriate, although she needs to pay more attention to the fit of her clothes, sometimes there is just too much fabric on her small frame and her pants are dragging on the ground.
She should also rethink a bit her shoe choices, not every event she attends requires her to wear sky high stileto heels.
Meghan could tone it down with the fancy shoes for sporting events, maybe black booties with a block heel or cute designer flats she wore in Toronto with the white shirt and jeans with Harry at the Invictus Games. (and not every outfit needs a belt)
She looks lovely here, navy, green and black are her colors.

    • Nikki says:

The Queen loves buttons, and looks fabulous. I’m not a button hater. (I’m a flounces and frills hater).

      • Bailie says:

The Queen can wear anything, she is over 90.

I’m glad that she still alive and seems healthy.
Meghan and Kate have the time and energy to pay more attention to what they wear.
And I also hate shiny buttons, big or small, especially the golden looking kind, gross.
I love bangs, if they suit the bone structure of the person wearing them.
Not everybody can wear bangs and not everybody can part their hair in the middle or the side.

  3. ann carter says:

I think you were right the first time. There’s a royal bun in the royal oven. 🙂

    • LahdidahBaby says:

Her outfit certainly gives off that vibe, though I would be surprised if she were preggers before their tour.

I thought it was lovely of Meghan to dress as she did—conservatively, and in a non-attention-drawing navy. She knew that many of us would be breathlessly waiting to catch a glimpse of her.

One thing: I do wish she would work on that up-do so that the loose flyaway bit is smaller, not such a major hank of her hair, because with her lovely, delicate features it sort of gets in the way and just looks careless.

      • Nic919 says:

I don’t think she would risk it before the tour either. She looked pretty slim last week so I think she is allowed to have a puffy day here and there.

  4. Becks1 says:

I think she really looks lovely; I think the appearance of pregnancy is because the coat has no shape and hangs straight down, so it hides her shape/body and makes her look like she is pregnant. I wonder what dress she is wearing underneath.

    • Iknow says:

I don’t know. I’m getting major pregnant vibes. If she isn’t, she needs to BURN that coat. It didherabsolutelyno favors I can see them or wanting to announce before the wedding.

      • Becks1 says:

See that’s where I think she’s not pregnant….that coat does remind me of a 1960s maternity coat, but if she’s pregnant, and trying to hide it, then that coat has the opposite effect, you know?

I need to see what she is wearing underneath to make a better assessment lol.

    • Anastasia says:

      The coat should be belted.

  5. Maum says:

Not bad but once again it looks a bit ill-fitting.

    • minx says:

Same. Meghan herself is beautiful as always, but I wish she could get someone to tailor her clothes.

  6. Missy says:

I wonder if she is pregnant….she is glowing, although when isn’t she?

    • hoopjumper says:

Exactly! I think she is the most naturally radiant person…I have no idea if it’s make-up, personal happiness, or both, but I swear ever since I saw the first picture of her as H’s girlfriend I thought she just shone.

      • Alexandria says:

OMG I tot it’s just me. And she is one of those people who has a beautiful smile. I try not to fawn on Meghan but she is just so photogenic to me and as a WOC, I root for her. I have a soft spot for Kate’s smile cos I am very sure I will also look like a maniac when I smile through a thousand shots. At least she has height!

    • Tourmaline says:

She glows nonstop its her thing

      • Mego says:

I think it’s safe to say that she is very happy in her new life with Harry. So glad for them both.

  7. Elephant says:

Is it a coatdress though? Or is it a coat, as one would wear in the mid October? I like Kate’s outfit, it is something I would wear, the color is great.

  8. Norm says:

Love the hat, hate the coat as it doesn’t fit her. And pray tell how much did this ill-fitting Givenchy number cost the British taxpayer. She’s such a pretty girl. Why not find something more colourful (and British) and less expensive to wear.

    • Natalie S says:

How do you feel about the expense of an outfit from Alexander McQueen?

      • Becks1 says:

That’s almost a duplicate of a dress she already owns? That makes the third McQueen since May that we have seen that is a copy of another McQueen in her closet (second or third, depending on where you fall in the great “white or yellow” debate).

      • BritGuest says:

I think we already know what everyone feels about Kate’s spending…… Most people agree that she is a spendthrift. Why is it wrong to point out Meghan’s expenses when she is spending a lot more than Kate did during her first year???? An answer would be nice as they both spend/waste taxpayer ££££££. Couture costs a lot more than bespoke. I’mnotsaying this outfit is, but her previous outfits have been.

      • BritGuest says:

Curious as to why you thought Meghan would be different? She started off as she meant to go on – wearing haute couture in her first official pictures. It’s not something British Royals do in public because they know what type of message that would send to the public. The deposed Greek Royals, the Arab Royals etc but not the Brits.

      • Natalie S says:

Actually, this is a private event, right? What do the taxpayers have to do with Meghan’s outfit today? Questioning her worthiness to wear something expensive even at a private event?

And depressing and interesting as always that with all the expensive clothes at this event, Meghan is only one condescendingly being called out as a cute girl who should wear something cheaper. McQueen, Alaia, Ralph and Russo all present at today’s event -Meghan gets dinged.

      • Natalie S says:

Also, Meghan wearing Ralph and Russo in her engagement photo (privately paid for!) meant that British couture got a huge pr boost. People reasonably tend to associate couture with Paris. And using a British female designer even for a French fashion brand does shine a light on British talent.

    • Masamf says:

Why is it only Meghan that gets held to these ridiculous standards of promoting British designers? Kate wore Erdem, not even a peep from Kate supporters, Meghan wears anything non British, the incessant complaints begin, “why isn’t she wearing British designers, wear British, wear British”, geesh, stop it!!!
Kate wears expensive outfits but none of her supporters mention anything, Meghan wears an equally expensive outfit and its “oh my goodness, the NHS is falling apart and here is this woman Meghan wearing an expensive outfits” Stop it!!!!!

      • inthekitchen says:

        +1000 Masamf

      • W1hatever1 says:

        @Masamf

Erdem (the person) is Canadian- British. His brand was founded in London and still based there so technically its a British brand.

      • Natalie S says:

Kate wears foreign labels all the time. She wore Dolce and Gabbana to major events. Even her cheap outfits are from Zara -which I think is a Spanish brand.

Meghan has worn a lot of Canadian brands and she’s worn a fair amount of British brands. Ugh, I might go back and actually look at the outfits and number of engagements and do a comparison because there are a lot of assertions being thrown about and they come up in nearly every Meghan story.

      • LahdidahBaby says:

        +1000,000,000, Masamf! So true!

  9. Flying fish says:

I love Meghan in blue and I understand why Meghan would want to be subdued not to take away from the bride.
I dislike her hair and the annoying loose hair!

I think Kate’s worn that same dress in light pink before! Kate looks like Kate😏

    • I think she looks so beautiful… she always does!

And that blue is so pretty! With the misty blue fascinator, and that little purse, with the small shot of burgundy and cerulean… and those black heels and buttons… it comes together well. And then her shy smile! She’s glowing!

    • Jan90067 says:

She has. I posted above, it’s the same dress, but in a different color, that she wore to TotC in 2017.

    • RoyalSparkle says:

      +1000
Lets wait for pregnancy comments next week, when the Duke Duchess Sussex is on The Royal Tour and Invictus!

  10. sally cook says:

It doesn’t fit her. Too baggy. Great fascinator though.

  11. Originaltessa says:

Don’t like it, but I do think she’s pregnant and this isn’t exactly her first choice of attire. She’s gorgeous no matter what though. As my mother would say, she could wear a paper bag.

  12. Megan says:

She looks lovely. It was so windy there, I think the coat was just billowing which is why she has preggo vibes. She’ll be in Australia in a few days, so there will be plenty of photo opportunities to see if she sticks to flowing fabrics!

    • The Crumpled Horn says:

Its freezing here in Australia though atm so maybe not…

      • Megan says:

Yes I know, I’m Australian too. But they are also going to Fiji and Tonga, which should be warmer weather.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

Yep its very windy here and likely to start chucking it down with rain at some point today as well.

    • notasugarhere says:

They arrive Monday morning so they’re likely leaving late Saturday or early Sunday.

  13. Aang says:

As someone that can not layer anything ever because I feel like I’m suffocating, I don’t get the idea of a coat over a dress but keeping the coat on indoors. It can’t be comfortable and I’m guessing you’d get hot. It looks nice though and I notice Kate does it quite often as well.

    • Guest says:

I have this thing about too many layers under my armpits. So if I’m wearing a long sleeved coat, it’s most likely I have a sleeveless whatever underneath. Or, if my dress has long sleeves, you’ll likely find me in some kind of sleeveless vest (eg: Blue Sky dress made of bamboo with a fleece vest or something). And I have a gorgeous Eileen Fisher cashmere red swing coat w/no buttons that I adore but not being able to close it even a little can be a pain sometimes. I’m thinking of having my alterations gal add some kind of hook and eye arrangement, but am loathe to mess with the only fancy name in my closet!!

  14. AmandaPanda says:

She looks pregnant because she’s got the top 2 buttons closed and the rest open – it’s making her balloon. I used to do this with coats all the time before I figured it out.

She might well be pregnant but she’s not so far along that she’d be ballooning in a coat. It’s just unflattering on her.

    Eugenie looks lovely!

    • Polly says:

She was just pictured in a form fitting pencil skirt a few days ago looking as slim as usual, so I doubt she’d suddenly need a billowy coat to hide her belly. It’s just the style of the coat making it look like she’s expecting (it’ll serve her well when the time comes!). It’s really quite a boring outfit, so much navy blue.

      • Masamf says:

She could be cinching (to throw people off) when she wears the pencil skirts so there’s that too. But she isn’t preggers, if she was, they wouldn’t have such a brutal schedule lined up ahead of them.

  15. Beth says:

She looks lovely, but it’s another to add to her list of ill-fitting outfits

    • BritGuest says:

This. Most of her outfits are very poorly fitted. I don’t understand how one can spend so much and neglect the fit/tailoring of an outfit. I think she’s buying up the most expensive pieces and that’s it. The higher the price = better for Meghan. This is what it looks like to me. I haven’t seen any pictures of her wearing Givenchy outfits before Harry or any other high fashion designers like Dior or Prada.

      • Guest says:

I bought a couple of dresses and had them altered to fit better (like what not to wear recommends, purchase for the biggest part of you, then have a seamstress make adjustments) for a wedding. Time got short, and I didn’t try on one of the dresses. When the moment came, I discovered the alterations were not as I had hoped, and the dress was still too big around the bust and neckline. I wore it anyway (no choice, really) but it was a little disappointing to have paid close to $100.00 (Cdn) to get it altered and it wasn’t a perfect fit anyway……I am going back to the dressmaker once I’m over my jetlag!!!

      • Masamf says:

Yeah, okay. And Kate Middleton used to wear countless expensive designer outfits before prince William RME.

      • W1hatever1 says:

        @Masamf

No she didn’t. She mostly wore Issa pre-wedding but that brand and its pricing is hardly on the same level as Givenchy, Dior or Prada etc. If not Issa we mostly saw her in Hight Street stuff.

      • notasugarhere says:

Kate wore freebies, especially from Isla. That’s why she wore a blue Isla for the engagement announcement – payback for all the freebies for a decade.

      • Nic919 says:

Camilla should be wearing the most expensive stuff because she is unofficially the Princess of Wales. But she doesn’t. This status argument is ridiculous and shows a lack of understanding as to how the royal family works.

      • Nic919 says:

Why are we comparing prior to when either got married. Meghan had a job and made money to buy her own clothes . Kate sat home and did not. Once Kate was in the BRF she was wearing designer clothing the same as Meghan is doing. She wasn’t wearing top shop during the first tour in Canada. Trying to say it’s worse because Meghan isn’t wearing as many British brands as Kate did in the first few months is a stupid argument. Arguing cost of the outfits is one thing, but this brand argument is petty and irrelevant. The money that goes to the McQueen outifit still doesn’t end up in the NHS coffers more than the Givenchy outfit.

      • Natalie S says:

I think if the Middletons could have afforded to dress Kate in those clothes, they would have. They’re not shy about living a luxurious lifestyle and paid Kate’s expenses until she got married and clearly subsidized the lifestyles of their other two children as well. Their home was double mortgaged so those brands had to wait until after the marriage.

Kate’s very expensive things were mostly accessories. Her white bag was Prada and some of her shoes were from expensive brands. That’s the general style advice isn’t it? Spend your money on accessories and buy cheaper clothes.

And again Anne has higher status on an individual level than Meghan and Kate and she works more than both of them. I think we should let her set the budget!

      • W1hatever1 says:

        @Natalie S

You can buy handbags and shoes from expensive brands relatively cheaply if you wait a few seasons to buy and also shop at designer retail outlets like Bicester Village. Which I think is what the Middleton’s did.

      • Natalie S says:

Also, what are we even discussing in this thread? Both Kate and Meghan wore more expensive clothing after getting married? Meghan only buying clothes for the label and price if the poster doesn’t like what she bought? Meghan’s outfits being a waste of money because the poster doesn’t like the outfit? Buying British or commonwealth vs. European or American? What did Meghan do wrong again?

Kate and William moved their tennis courts a few feet. They’re not thrifty. We’re arguing over outfits when they amount of money spent around the Cambridges including paying back the charity after they were removed from Apt 1A is absolutely ridiculous. That apartment is larger than the one shared by Charles and Diana even though Charles was the heir.

Frankly, nickel and diming Meghan says more about the poster’s opinion of Meghan than being about saving money.

@W1hatever1. My theory was those were birthday and Christmas gifts.

      • W1hatever1 says:

        @Natalie S

You might want to hold off any arguments regarding housing, apartments and refurbishments for now. You never know, the cost of refurbishing Harry and Meghan’s new KP apartment, the security costs for their rented Cotswolds home, decor changes to Nottingham Cottage at KP and renovation costs for any future permanent country home could end up being just as much as what the Cambridge’s have spent.

      • Natalie S says:

I would bet $100 that we will never get a story about Meghan and Harry evicting a charity that had just finished renovating the property and had to be paid back for those costs, or moving their tennis courts a few feet.

And did we even get the numbers on cost of decor changes to Apt. 1A vs. the cost of renovating it which was where we kept hearing about budget increasing? We got a little about decor changes to Nottingham Cottage -something about buying thousands of dollars worth of scented candles, I think but that was a private expense? I remember back then there were pr stories about how Kate did everything herself including the cleaning when in Anglesey at least, I think they had a housekeeper.

And of course now we have the rented helicopter and the offices being dug at Kensington and the privacy landscaping. Do Harry and Meghan get to use them as well for their staff?

I didn’t even take into account security costs for the Cambridges! They wouldn’t live on base so there was the Angelsey home and the Middleton home in addition to Kensington Palace and wherever their other country places were and that was right from 2011. They also billed the taxpayers to secure the new Middleton home which included permanent structures to house the RPFs who have to pay rent by the way. It’s one of the biggest scams the entire BRF runs.

      • W1hatever1 says:

You never know there is every possibility they might do things that are as equally ridiculous. People tend to forget common sense when spending other people’s money.

      • Natalie S says:

You know, in a way I hope so. Because the Cambridges get away with this in large part because how how many excuses are made for them. They have set a high bar of entitlement whereas right now Meghan can’t even go to a private wedding without having the cost of her outfit questioned.

It would suggest that Meghan has really shored up her support with enough people who will rationalize away anything she does. And call her regal to boot!

      • anon says:

What on earth is going on in this conversation? People bringing up renovations and homes when the original point was about clothes lmao. It doesn’t matter Who is wearing expensive designer outfits (or what labels/brands) the fact is both Meghan and Kate Do spend a lot on their outfits. How do you think hard working people feel when they see a Duchess wearing a £5000+ new outfit at every event? If people are always going to call out Kate for her OTT expenses, then people should be freely allowed to express their views on Meghan’s expenses as well.
FYI, Harry&Meghan’s Cotswold home has a huge security bill, all paid for by usss. The local police had to ask the government for more money to cover the cost. Let that sink in. The police in our country are being squeezed, horrendous crime is on the rise and we still have to shell out for their country (2nd home) security which I’m sure the Royal family can cough up themselves. It is ridiculous. There were also reports of M&H using the helicopter to and from their Cotswolds home. If you’re going to bring up costs, it is so much fairer to include both couples. In the end, I think they both get away with quite a bit without being criticised.

      • Natalie S says:

I think the original point was Meghan picks clothes based on label and price not taste and the proof was she didn’t wear Givenchy before getting married. That is a weird argument and brought Kate into the discussion.

And of course cherry-picking one category like clothes or even specific occasions doesn’t work if you’re trying to argue that someone is wasteful with money. All the royals live expensive lives and need to reduce their costs. I t doesn’t make any sense to wear McQueen or Givenchy to engagements.

Singling out Meghan doesn’t make sense and like I said says more about how the poster feels about Meghan than about the topic. Just say you don’t like Meghan. What’s the issue with that?

      • passerby says:

        Anon says

Then proceeds to do the same… upside-down world indeed.

      • Natalie S says:

Actually, I wasn’t sure before either.

Hang on. I think the issue is @Masmf’s sarcasm was seriously answered by @W1hatever1 and then @Ceecee brought up the tiresome status thing which is also a bad argument.

And then both sides *agreed* with each other on the all important point that Kate did not wear Givenchy and Dior before getting married yet somehow it was still an argument.

And bringing it back to the start: Meghan supposedly picks clothes based on label and price not taste. Proof is she didn’t wear Givenchy before getting married and again that is a weird argument because it doesn’t actually prove anything.

      • Natalie S says:

        @Ceecee.

I agree that all the royals should lower their spending. There really is no reason to wear McQueen or Givenchy to engagements. This is a private event so different rules -but for engagements: wardrobe costs including shoes and coats but not jewelry should be max $1500.

The engagement dress was also private not a taxpayer expense. These are wealthy people. Meghan can buy nice things without it being a character defect and she’s not marketing herself as “Thrifty Meghan.”

Has the status rule for wardrobe even existed before? Liz doesn’t care. It looks like only people who prefer Kate or dislike Meghan care. Anne has more status than either Kate or Meghan. Clearly spending based on status doesn’t matter.

“she is going to wear the most expensive brand she can, and the taxpayers be damned!” I don’t know what that’s based on besides Meghan sometimes wearing expensive things but she’s also worn Marks and Spencers so I don’t know why you think she’s choosing based on how expensive it is.

  16. Caity says:

    I think she’s pregnant.
But if she’s not she will be soon and perhaps she’s dressing in looser clothing in preparation.

  17. Belluga says:

I must be the only one not getting pregnancy vibes!

I think she’s put on a bit of weight, which shows up because she’s so tiny, but she lost weight before the wedding.

  18. OSTONE says:

If she is embarking on a tour and is going to Fiji (where there’s a risk of Zika) she is not pregnant in my opinion. If they skip Fiji, totally preggers.

    • Masamf says:

Fijian women have healthy babies all the time, c’mon. The jam packed schedule ahead of them is the only reason I think she is NOT pregnant. The zika virus in Fiji and Tonga is just a hype, IMVHO.

      • Aotearovian says:

I agree, Masamf. I live in NZ, where people travel to and from the Pacific Islands constantly, and I haven’t seen a single mention of Zika in relation to Fiji or Tonga in our media. There hasn’t been one case to my knowledge. It’s a non-issue. If Meghan is pregnant she is still going to Fiji and Tonga on this tour.

  19. kellybean says:

In the picture where she is looking directly at the camera, is she wearing a bunch of gold rings on her fingers or is it something hanging from the candle in front of her? I surely hope it’s something hanging from the candle because wearing so many rings is so tacky!

    • kellybean says:

Oh god, she is wearing a bunch of rings. I just noticed in the other pics. That is terrible.

      • BritGuest says:

The bracelet she’s wearing is nice and delicate. The gold chunky rings don’t match the occasion or outfit. Weird.

      • Beth says:

The bracelet is pretty and delicate, but so many big, chunky gold rings look almost like brass knuckles and don’t look right for the occasion

    • Becks1 says:

I feel like she often wears multiple rings.

      • OriginalLala says:

usually she wears several very tiny gold stacking rings but these are all big ornate rings. It looks kind of tacky, I’m surprised since she usually does minimal accessories so well.

      • Beth says:

I love rings, but big, chunky rings on each and every finger looks tacky

      • Scotchy says:

I actually love the chunky rings. For the me the jewelry is a highlight. Ha, guess I’m tacky🤣

      • notasugarhere says:

        From the Meghan’s Fashion site

The rings are rough diamonds from “ethical designer Pippa Small from her SS19 Herkimer diamond collection, not yet available to purchase”

        From the Pippa Small website
“Pippa was made an ambassador of the human rights organisation Survival International in 2008 and awarded an MBE by the Queen in 2013 for ethical jewellery and charity work. She also won Ethical Jeweller of the Year and the prestigious Walpole Corporate Social Responsibility award in 2016. Pippa was also named winner of the Green Sustainability Award for Sustainability by Town and Country magazine. “

      • PrincessK says:

It is certainly not my style but I suppose if wearing a ring on every finger is what she wants to do, its her business.

    • Jan90067 says:

Sarah Ferguson is also wearing a lot of rings on various fingers at the wedding. Maybe she’s a Meg Stan. Go figure.

  20. BaronSamedi says:

I also immediately thought pregnant when I saw this coat. But not because of the shape itself or anything.

Just because everyone else seemed to arrive with only one layer and here Meghan shows up with the coat on as if she had something to hide…

Also it feels like Kate and Meghan switched outfits to me? Like, usually you can’t get Kate out of her coats and now everything is turned around and nothing has meaning anymore!!

    • Megan says:

She’s a California girl, maybe she’s still acclimatising to the English weather.

      • Clare says:

Are you serious? Didn’t shenlve in toroto for however many years? I mean, she can wear a coat if she wants but let’s not pretend like this is her first foray into sub 15 degree weather.

      • Mego says:

@Clare yup I think the Climate in the London area is milder than Toronto.

      • Andrea says:

Maybe she is just cold natured??? I have a few skinny friends who are a touch underweight who freeze at 60F!

      • Wellsie says:

The weather is milder in London, but is it just me or are buildings not heated enough there? Whenever I go I find myself freezing indoors. And I’m not usually in drafty churches.

      • Tina says:

@Wellsie, absolutely right. It can be 15 degrees outside and feel like 8 in a church. The stone sucks the heat away.

      • Scram says:

        @ Clare
        ??????
28 years in California vs 7 years in Toronto. Yes, she’s a California girl. No one was saying that she’s never experienced chillier weather, but, in my experience, those who were raised in warm climates are quicker to feel cold. Let’s not act like she wasn’t bundled up and “drowning” in coats during most of the pre-wedding engagements. She wore sleeveless while in doors in a presumably modern building not in an old chapel and certainly not when she knew she’d be walking and standing outside for part of the days events. There’s a difference.

      • Tina says:

@Scram, also, in my experience, buildings are heated a lot in Canada in the winter. So it will be very cold outside, but much warmer inside than we would have in the UK.

  21. Patty says:

I’m not a fan of her wedding look. I don’t care for the hat and I wish she’d switch up her hair game.

I have to laugh every time I visit the comment section on a Meghan thread though. It’s always she’s pregnant, she better get pregnant soon cause she’s soooo old, or the IVF twins will be born next year.

I think she just wears ill fitting clothes; and she’s always had a bit of tummy pooch. It was just hidden on Suits.

    • Nancy says:

Yeah the pregnancy talk gets old. She has the cutest figure, but just can’t or won’t find someone to fit her properly. I also noticed she always wears dark colors. I remember in the summer, people commenting on how she should try a pastel for a change. She has the face and body, just needs to figure out how to dress. It should be so easy in her position.

      • PrincessK says:

She wore the brightest of yellow to a commonwealth do a few months ago, white or cream to Ascot and pale pink to a garden party…C’mon!

    • anon says:

Ladies, someone below thinks you’re scraggly and slovenly because you don’t understand why MM doesn’t wear properly fitted clothes haha!

  22. Robin says:

I don’t think she’s pregnant. She and Harry are going on tour in areas where Zika is a risk. No way would she go there while pregnant. Also, isn’t anyone else sick of Meghan’s limited color choices.— navy, black, white/cream, and occasionally green.

    • PrincessK says:

She might have fallen pregnant after the tour was planned, and I bet this tour was planned before the marriage.

  23. Clare says:

Not here for the bump watch – but what I’ve noticed from the limited videos/photos is that her and Harry and almost always focused on each other, rather than engaging with those around them. I mean when the rest of the fam/cousins are walking together, chatting, they’re walking ahead hand in hand. Same for inside the chapel where she’s very obviously turned away from Anne.

Maybe it’s just the photos, or they’re madly into each other, I don’t know. I guess I hope it’s not because some of the royals aren’t nice to her. 🤷🏼‍♀️

    • Beach Dreams says:

Actually there were a lot of photos and videos on Twitter of Meghan and Princess Anne engaging in conversation; seemed to be a fun one too.

    • Scram says:

There’s video of her talking to Anne for some time in the chapel. I think Zara too. She also regularly speaks with Camilla and Charles when around them.

    • Anastasia says:

I mean, they’re still newlyweds. My husband and I were the same way, like puppies.

    • inthekitchen says:

@Clare, in the video from after the service where they are walking ahead, they were walking with Charles. I think Charles was just out of the shot, but you can see as they left the chapel, they were with him, then was another group, then another group.

Also, as others mentioned, there are photos of Harry talking to Kate, Meghan talking to Anne, and both Meghan and Harry talking to Zara in the row in front of them. I think most people in the family (#notracistPrincessMichael) have been welcoming to Meghan.

But, yeah, also, they are super into each other and I’d bet that being back in the church where they married brought up all kinds of feelings 🙂

  24. Busyann says:

Even though she does seem pregnant,I dont think they would get pregnant before the tour. My guess is there will be an announcement in late December/January. I think this coat is designed to get us prepared for the idea of her being pregnant.

  25. Mego says:

I think it’s a lovely outfit and she looks beautiful.

  26. TheOriginalMia says:

I don’t think she’s pregnant. I think she’s cold and has on a coat. She likes them big so there you go. I was looking forward to her dress, but she didn’t overshadow the bride and that’s fine.

  27. Nibbi says:

She’s glorious and in my eye the highlight- in fact the only real interest- of the British Royal family.
Well ok, perhaps Harry… inasmuch as he’s in love with her 🙂

  28. Sam says:

Is givenchy the only designer Meghan knows or what? She looks ok,a bit meh.Dont like the coat though cos it just looks illfiting. Her style has been disappointing so far

  29. Cee says:

I hated the whole look, sorry.
In motion she def looks pregnant; hopefully they announce later on unlike Kat’s pregnancies (for obvious health reasons)

  30. Lucy says:

That picture inside the church! She’s so beautiful. Great wedding look, love the color. Great accessories, too.

  31. Gigi La Moore says:

I think she looks great and pregnant.

  32. SWP says:

Guys let’s all cut Meghan a break with the pregnancy vibes, remember how she is built. She has a petite, short torso and is really delicate framed (compare her frame size to Kate when they were at Wimbledon, it was shocking, Kate looked so much bigger and Kate is tiny!). She’s got a body that when there is a trace of bulk at the top she looks pregnant. I’m sure she’s very sensitive about the fact that if she eats a bagel, it shows. I really don’t think they’re going to be keepingthe secret /debuting a pregnancy during a grueling 2 week tour. Think of all the clothes she’s had made for this trip, do you think they are all bump-hiding?

  33. Millenial says:

I’ve been guilty of bump watching her, but I’m going to stop. If she’s not pregnant yet, it might be that they haven’t started trying or it might be that they haven’t gotten lucky yet. Might be a painful topic. Also, fertility drugs can cause weight gain so you never know.

I hope for their sakes it happens as quickly as they want it to.

    • SWP says:

Preach, Millenial! I’m starting to get my feelings hurt for Meghan. I just ate a big breakfast and regret it cause I’ll bet if I was at that wedding everyone would think I’m pregnant. Lol.

  34. SWP says:

Also, every time we see her we say pregnancy…remember the pink dress at the garden party like the week after the wedding? She’d have delivered by now if that was a bump. Poor Meghan. At least when people think I look heavier I don’t know about it lol.

  35. Christine says:

Duchess Kate looks divine. I love that color. She always looks so beautiful in rich jewel tones. Impeccably well fit. Love the dress, I think the ‘puffy’ sleeves are an interesting and appropriate touch to the dress where the alternative would have been a fitted sleeve. It just gives the dress a bit of playfulness. Her skin is glowing, so glad she has got rid of the heavy black eyeliner look. Megan’s coat seems a few sizes too big, and dwarves her. I think she is still finding ‘her’ style. Would have loved to have seen the dress underneath.

  36. Ellie says:

Hated the dark color (too somber, even for autumn) and the hair (too messy so she’s always touching it).

    • Becks1 says:

Lots of other guests are in navy blue, including the Countess of Wessex. I don’t think Meghan’s dress is too dark at all.

      • notasugarhere says:

Navy is a good, subdued shade for this event. Nothing to draw attention.

      • BeanieBean says:

It seemed to me that all the women wore solids, as though, ok, summer is over, put away the floral prints. Except for Jack’s mom!

  37. shy vi says:

She is definitely pregnant and glowing 🙂

  38. Lexa says:

This coat looks a little somber and definitely isn’t her best look. I also got pregnancy vibes when she was in motion, but maybe we should blame it on the wind pulling at her clothes and the relatively shapeless coat?

  39. Amelie says:

I really love this outfit on her. I did get pregnancy vibes when I saw the pictures on People but then I realized she has the top buttons buttoned and the rest of the coat unbuttoned giving it a billowing effect which may be why it seems a smidge too big on her. Either she left the buttons unbuttoned to accommodate her maybe pregnancy or she just left them unbuttoned due to personal preference. It was also really windy, the pictures of Kate’s dress has it flying all over the place (they say Eugenie rode in a closed carriage because of the wind).

I also really like her loose hair and I like the fact Meghan embraces these styles instead of keeping her hair pulled back in a severe way (hello Princess Anne). I think some people have really strange ideas of what hair should look like at all times.

    • Becks1 says:

My guess is she was going to wear the coat open, but it was so windy that she buttoned the top buttons to keep it from blowing everywhere.

  40. MaryContrary says:

Not pregnant-it’s just the style of the coat. Her look is fine, just kind of eh. She’s trying not to overshadow the bride.

  41. Anare says:

I think Megan is pregnant just based on her facial expression and demeanor. I can’t put my finger on it exactly but there is something about her that seems a little tentative, a little introspective. IDK. I could be full of shite too.

  42. LarLa says:

I don’t think she’s pregnant. She wore the green skirt and shirt outfit a couple days ago and didn’t look pregnant to me.

  43. Maggie w says:

I don’t under stand this concept that she does not want to over shadow other people. Why does she have to change herself to please others. I just wish she would put more colour in her clothes

    • SWP says:

Well….if you google photos of her old and new you will see she isn’t the queen of bright colors…not like her new grandmother in law actually. Lol. She’s always gone for the navy, black, taupe kind of neutrals. I don’t think we will ever see her in neon green and purple like Liz. It’s just not her style, wedding or not.

  44. erika says:

She ALWAYS wears navy blue. It’s boring.

  45. Vanessa says:

I think Meghan outfit is fine it’s not too dark if she would have worn a lighter color people would have accused her of trying to steal the limelight. Like when she worn that green dress to Louis baptism she was accused by Kate fans and Meghan’s haters of trying to steal the spotlight from the future queen and her son . The dail mail has created this narrative that Meghan has gone crazy and is overspending money designer clothes every time they say a item cost this much people run with it even when people actually come up with the right price people will still quote the daily mail as facts because it’s fit their narrative of Meghan. Every since Meghan has become a duchess people are complaining about how much she spends what she purchase but Kate has had free reigns for years to spends like crazy and you didn’t heard a peep for the daily mail or Kate’s fans ever time she spend money on designer it was justified because she a royal but with Meghan it’s like oh no why do we have to pay for her .

  46. artistsnow says:

Why all the complaints about the fitting of Meghan’s clothes? This looks perfectly fitted. Its a COAT. If she had a belt, if it was tighter, we would complain as well probably. She is a tiny girl, NOTHING is ever going lie straight all the time. There will always be a picture with wrinkles, folds, etc.

    • SlightlyAnonny says:

Whenever there is an article on Meghan, I hear that song from an old children’s cartoon going “pick, pick, pick, pick, pick, pick, pick.” It’s death by 1000 cuts. People who don’t even know where a tailor is or what a tailor does complaining about tailoring. Sitting in sweats but calling someone else slovenly. Gorgeous delicate jewelry called tacky. A crease called wrinkles by people who don’t even own an iron. Meghan looked quite nice and did not draw attention away from the bride as a good wedding guest knows not to do and STILL her article gets more comments because people lurve to rip her to shreds. And by the way, Eugenie’s wedding hair was just as “messy” as Meghan and there is not.a.peep. I wonder why that is?

      • A says:

There are SO MANY people who suddenly become absolute experts on how clothes are made and how they are fitted to someone’s body whenever Meghan is the subject, lol! Her dress was simple, with very little bells and whistles, which makes other issues stand out quite a bit because it doesn’t get camouflaged in the details. But the way people gripe about it–you’d think they were all tailors and seamstresses and designers, lmao.

      • anon says:

“People who don’t even know where a tailor is or what a tailor does complaining about tailoring. Sitting in sweats but calling someone else slovenly.”

Ehh? This happens on Kate threads all the time. I guess everyone on there are all sloppy, overweight, sweaty people, too. Actually, that makes a lot of sense.

      • SlightlyAnonny says:

@anon. Hi there, this is a post about Meghan. No one in this thread mentioned Kate until you showed up. Everything these women do and the response they get are not always connected. Just an fyi.

      • PrincessK says:

Exactly! Nobody mentioned Eugenie’s messy hair.

      • Dixiebells says:

I see the tailoring comment all the time about Meghan (and Kate to an extent) and I truly don’t get it. If they’re wearing all of these fancy designers I truly don’t believe anyone at the design house is letting them go out in untailored clothes. Not at their image level. At Wimbledon everyone was hysterical that her pants dragged the ground when they clearly also did on the model. Fine if you don’t like the style but I don’t believe either woman wears high end designer clothes that have not been professionally tailored. They fit the way they’re supposed to. I agree with you people just find endless nitpicking (in addition to suddenly being experts on designer clothing fit)

    • Beach Dreams says:

Yes, it is pretty silly that so many are throwing a fit over the uh, fit of a coat (especially since it’s partially buttoned and therefore gives a billowing silhouette). We don’t even know what her actual dress looks like. I thought she did well to blend in with the rest of the royal family in those lovely shades of green and blue.

  47. amanda says:

This looks just like something the Queen would wear. Boxy, boring and buttoned. She looks lovely from the neck up.

  48. khaveman says:

I find her outfit a little stuffy, but I like the color.

  49. Case says:

Is that the dress, or is it a coat over a dress?

I liked Kate’s outfit a lot more, and that usually doesn’t happen. Meghan is usually more fun than this.

  50. Sara says:

Obsession with this woman becoming pregnant is bizarre.

    • Avisitor says:

This entire thread is bizarre; you would surmise from some of these comments that Harry and Meghan are reading them and following the instructions, or they are Meghan’s OBGYN, or they are hiding under their bed.

    • anon says:

I know, right? It has become quite creepy….. I’ve seen similar comments on Twitter and other forums. I mean, I know she is a little bit older, but the OTT bump watch is too much. The clothes she usually wears always seem to emphasize her midsection, too. I don’t think she’s preggers.

  51. Jayna says:

It’s nothing special. Just another navy blue day for Meghan.

    Kate’s was nothing special either.

  52. Jessica says:

I like her. But she needs to wear colors. She repeats Navy, Black, White. I’m super underwhelmed by her style and I didn’t anticipate myself saying this.

    • notasugarhere says:

She wore green in Ireland, just wore green separates last week. And she was attacked for wearing olive green to Louis’s christening, because some thought it was an attention grabbing shade.

      • SWP says:

While I don’t tend to agree with your disdain for Kate, nota, lol, I laughed out loud at your comment “attention grabbing shade of olive green.” Bahaha. Is there even such a thing? Royal posters are crazy. I guess me too, I’m just a weirdo that adores them all (except oddly, the men are annoying and boring to me).

      • Becks1 says:

oh haha I had forgotten about that criticism. I remember now – she just HAD to stand out, everyone else was in cream (except they weren’t) and Meghan just HAD to be different and disregarded Kate’s orders to wear a neutral and everything else.

        That was all pretty hilarious.

      • Lexa says:

Really? Most of the criticism I saw of her christening attire here and on twitter was that the olive color was relatively drab and not especially festive for spring, not that she wanted to pull focus.

    • PrincessK says:

She wore the brightest of yellow to a commonwealth do a few months ago, white or cream to Ascot and pale pink to a garden party…C’mon!

  53. Grant says:

Yikes. Unless she’s pregnant, the fit on that is all wrong. It’s totally shapeless, just like her wedding dress was.

  54. ladida says:

I thought preggers too but then I saw it was just the button undone? The fit is off too, it’s not tailored properly.

  55. chrissyms says:

She looks good. It is not far fetched to think that she is pregnant. But we are looking for it as well.

  56. Talita says:

That coat should be burned. I really don’t like her style in general.

  57. Claire says:

It was ok. She’s just not a knock out to me in any way. She does seem to be more comfortable as time goes on. She hasn’t had it easy!

  58. Yes Doubtful says:

She’s a stunning woman, but she has the most boring style.

    • anon says:

I really don’t think Meghan is much of a fashionista. Her off-duty wardrobe was quite simple compared to the high-end style she’s trying to go for nowadays.

  59. Steph says:

Ugh!!! She needs a better tailor! I’ve said this before but she needs someone who can work with her sternum. The positioning of the second button from the top is so bad. It’s like squishing her boobs down. The whole line of buttons should have been lowered. A eye and hook at the collar. The first button in between where it is and the second button. The second button should have been center boob/nipple aligned. The goal of this coat was pretty but the execution is a mess.

  60. CocoNoir says:

I was immediately drawn to the lovely young lady who was holding the car door open. She struck me as a very pulled together person. I think it’s because there is no artificiality to her presentation. There is a beauty in that. Which of the two feels confident, privileged, has a great partner, and is incredibly happy with her job? Most people would miss the portrait in contrasts because our world is upside down.

  61. april says:

She and Harry look like they were made for each other. They both look so genuinely happy together.

  62. A says:

I guess I’m just a blind dummy because frankly, I see no fit issues whatsoever. There are no places where the fabric is oddly scrunched up, not when she’s walking, or when she’s sitting down. What exactly are people basing their criticism that her fit is “all wrong” and “totally off” on?

She looks polished and cuts a very striking silhouette when she’s getting out of the car and walking up the steps. This shade of navy is great as well, and it suits her. The length of the coat + the dress is also good, and she’s not getting swamped. Overall, she looks really well put together.

  63. Meg says:

Look at the loud gold rings on her finger

  64. Katebush says:

My two cents worth is its Boring and bland . She should have worn the olive green she wore to Louis’ christening I thought that was really flattering on her. But you know maybe she just isn’t into fashion as much as what people thought.

  65. shy vi says:

I wonder if there are any reports on if she was drinking at the wedding reception today. In any case, she certainly does have that mommy to be glowy beauty!

    • JadedBrit says:

She COULD have Appletise or similar in her champagne flute, though, so as to avoid provoking comments…

  66. anon says:

oh my word, those tacky rings on her fingers cost thousands of pounds! Pippa Small jewellery. Eww. Doesn’t look like quality gold, either.

  67. JadedBrit says:

She tries to keep a low profile at a rather dear, refreshingly sweet family member’s wedding: the Daily Heil digs up an old interview on Thomas Markle’s drug taking. Anything to stir the pot (and prevent it from becoming a melting pot). Trouble is, the tabloid junk press, written for junk people, haven’t forgiven Harry for daring to stand up to them and stop with the negativity re his beautiful then-girlfriend. And they never will. Look how the Press turned against his own mother.

  68. Skipper says:

It is absolutely none of my business and I am so glad that Meghan will never read this, but I am usually rather sad when I look at her clothes. I assume she is choosing her clothes, so I guess the choices are hers’. So I just think her clothes are so ugly.
They make her look way way too old. She is so lovely, so that is why it makes me sad. Sometimes I am afraid to peek at photos of her for fear of the latest thing she has on. 😝

    • RoyalBree says:

This is how I feel, Skipper. So much money, so much beauty, but so little fashion flair. And such poor fits and cuts for her body type most of the time. I find this outfit bland, which is fine for the event, but why only button the top two buttons? It looks as if she was interrupted buttoning halfway through. Is this a “thing” now? I’ve never seen it done before, and it looks unfinished. And yes, all those rings are incredibly tacky: show-offy and ostentatious. Far, far too much money spent for such a bland look.

  69. JayneBirkinB says:

I think this is the companion long jacket to match her June Trooping the Colour Navy ensemble. It very well could be that the dress underneath is indeed the very same dress. Windy weather seems colder than still weather at the same temperature. I think she wore dark colors so she would not upstage the bride, and I commend her for it. The fascinator is lovely and I hope it makes a second appearance.

I’m not particularly concerned about the pregnancy concerns. I’m much more interested to learn what Eugenie wears to the Friday evening reception, and to the Saturday “fair”. I hope the storms lift in time or the fair may be washed out.

Eugenie was a lovely bride, and I have a lot of sympathy for her, because she’s endured the darts and arrows of the Judgmental Fashionista Class because she’s not rail-thin like Catherine, DoCB. She’s built exactly like her great-granny, TQM; beautiful hourglass figure. But years of dealing with scoliosis means that it would be wholly unhealthy for her to diet down to a rail-thin frame. Not all of us are built like Asparagus Ballerinas.

I used to work with an African American sales rep who watched over my shoulder at pictures from Ascot popped up on my phone during lunch. He pointed out Eugenie and said “she’s the only one with meat on her bones, she’s gorgeous! Brothers like curvy girls.”

I don’t know if she is pregnant, but I believe they are actively trying. At her age you can’t sit around waiting for a good time if you want a few kids. Usually couples like to try for a while before getting checked out, so I bet they are going for it.

There is NEVER a convenient time to be pregnant, especially if you are prone to feeling sick the first months.

I think she may well be preggers. But being thin it took awhile to pop.
