On July 27, moms will allow you to eat dessert first. The annual Miracle Treat Day encourages people to eat a Blizzard for Children’s Miracle Network charity.

The immortal words of my mother still ring in my ear, no dessert till you eat all your vegetables. I’ve even said the same phrase to my own kids. But, on the annual Miracle Treat Day, my kids, and hopefully many others, will get the chance to eat dessert first.

The annual Miracle Treat Day by Dairy Queen raises both money and awareness for the Children’s Miracle Network. This year represents the 12th time the company hosted the charity event. According to company reports, “$1 or more from every Blizzard® Treat sold at participating DQ Grill & Chill® and Dairy Queen locations throughout the U.S.”

Ice cream, while not a miracle worker, can offer a small moment of happiness. Sometimes a sweet treat can make people forget about the difficult, unknown, or even just the mundane. From a happy childhood moment or creating a family tradition, the frozen treat has become part of many families’ cherished memories.

This year, Dairy Queen partnered with two celebrity moms to raise awareness about the annual Miracle Treat Day. Today personality and new mom Hoda Kotb and television personality and mom Tia Mowry are associated with this year’s events. The company hopes that the celebrity support will help promote this charitable event.

While every Blizzard treat raises funds on Miracle Treat Day, the iconic Oreo Blizzard is the featured Miracle Treat Day Blizzard. Oreo, the classic sandwich cookie, is a favorite with all ages. It is considered the most popular Blizzard on the menu. The blend of vanilla soft serve and Oreo is a combination that is always in style.

But, Dairy Queen isn’t just about classic flavors. Periodically, the company adds new flavors to its classics. Recently, it added a blondie/salted caramel Blizzard, which is a super decadent summer treat.

Don’t forget to ask your DQ server to tip your Blizzard upside down. Remember every Blizzard can be held upside down and not fall out.

On July 27, Miracle Treat Day let everyone eat their dessert first. It is all for a worthy charitable cause. The following day you can insist on everyone eating all their vegetables before dessert.
