Join us for a day of celebration as we unite for Dementia Awareness Week. Dementia Awareness Week is supported by the Alzheimer’s Society. The Alzheimer’s Society is a UK charity which provides support and research for those affected by dementia.

Please join us at the Manchester Museum for a day of celebration on Saturday 20 May 2017 Everybody is welcome. There will be free activities throughout the day, including: – Performance of Over the Garden Fence – Panel discussion: “Arts, Culture and Dementia” – Dementia Friends information sessions – Performances by music students from The University of Manchester – Information stalls presented by the Manchester Museum, the Whitworth, Music in Mind and Dementia@Manchester You are welcome to attend any part of the day. There will be two Dementia Friends information sessions held in the Manchester Museum conference room. These will be delivered by Dementia@Manchester – 10.30am-11.25am – 11.30am-12.25pm

Haylo Theatre present

OVER THE GARDEN FENCE written by and performed by Louise Evans and Hayley Riley 2pm – 4pm (doors open 1.40pm) Manchester Museum, Kanaris Lecture Theatre

Over the Garden Fence follows the story of Annabelle and her Gran Dolly. Annabelle and the audience are taken on a nostalgic journey through Gran’s life, sharing memories of happiness, sorrow and joy. It is a fast paced, uplifting and comical exploration into family, life and relationships that promotes an awareness of dementia that is accessible to all. The stories within the play are personal. Haylo Theatre have already had experience of working with: schools, charities, communities, nurses (hospitals) care homes, people with dementia, families and several conferences, both locally and nationally. They speak from personal experience, and the experiences people have shared with them.
