The Alabama National Guard has sent a second UH-72 helicopter and an additional pilot to Marana, Ariz., to assist with patrolling the border with Mexico.

Gov. Robert Bentley's office announced that the governor approved the move.

In April, the state sent a UH-72 helicopter and three pilots to support efforts by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency and civilian law enforcement, according to a news release from the governor.

The four pilots will be needed in Arizona through September.

"I continue to support strengthening our borders and this will give the Alabama National Guard an opportunity to gain valuable experience in the fight to protect our country," Bentley said in a press release.
