However, exits are often misunderstood as related only to failures. The literature, instead, shows that start-up exits encompass a range of types and outcomes, including private acquisitions, public listing (IPO), and voluntary liquidation, in addition to bankruptcies. Exits are an integral part of the life cycle of a start-up firm and are not necessarily an adverse event. Even when unsuccessful, exits can be a source of learning, as entrepreneurs can build upon these experiences to re-engage and generate new successful ventures. Learn more by attending.
