December 2014

this edition...

This Christmas, revenge is coming to town! It's also coming to The Chinese Theatre in Hollywood this Thursday evening. More details about the 'Its A Wonderful Knife' premiere here. Also, this past month I've been shooting two short film projects that are both ambitiously unconventional in their style and approach. See a sneak peek here.

Love a good mystery? Me too! This fun Los Angeles activity would make an excellent family/friends holiday event or original gift.

Whichever customs you partake in, and in whatever corner of the planet you find yourself, I wish you a safe and merry celebration. 2014 has been quite a year for exploration and change; let's meet whatever exciting things 2015 has to throw at us with a well-rested mind!

holiday horror

I am oh-so proud to play a part in this extremely well written and produced short film 'It's a Wonderful Knife' which premieres just in time for the Holidays this Thursday evening at 9:30pm at The Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. Tickets are $15 - PURCHASE HERE.

Come say hello over a glass or two before (8pm-ish) and most likely afterwards for a post screening drink at Sadie (a short walk from the theatre http://www.sadiela.com/)

storytelling

This past couple of months I've been working with two equally talented Directors in a more unconventional filmmaking setting. Both projects are 'Progressive Storytelling'; films shot in short segment with the story changing as these scenes unravel through improvisation. It's been incredibly fulfilling as an artist to develop characters and work in a way not unlike the approach used for the film 'Boyhood'. I can't give too much away yet (at the request of the filmmakers), but here's some teaser screen-grabs.

your time starts.....now!

It's a bit of a fantasy of mine, truth be told. Locked in a creepy room, reminiscent of an old, abandoned asylum, which contains an array of cryptic, puzzling clues, and all the while a clock is ticking. Using your smarts, and those of your teammates, contestants try to escape before the timer runs out. Paniq Room is an international organization that offers such experiences for the benefit of team-building and also just because it's a hell of a lot of fun! This month I was lucky enough to enjoy the experience with colleagues and friends and I highly recommend it. As you'll see by the photo below, we just made it just in time!

about

I’m a Los Angeles based actress with a passion for stories that challenge convention and conformity, and characters that explore
the dark, twisted complexities of the human soul. I specialize in playing smart, sexy and free-spirited women with moxie, dangerous allure and endearing vulnerability.

On-screen career highlights include working with Greg Kinnear in 'Rake' (FOX), R.J. Mitte (Breaking Bad) in his new Feature 'Who's Driving Doug', Directors Sam Raimi and Mark Romanek, and (prepare to geek out) the real Darth Vader. In addition to projects ranging from a leads in two additional Feature Films, and a $1M short film shot in 3D, find me in an online B-Story expansion for James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’, an original scripted pilot for the SyFy Channel catch a glimpse of me in a recent iPhone commercial.

other bits

I'm no longer sure I'm smarter than a 5th grader! This month I was blessed to be a guest teacher for a class of 5th grade students at Gault Elementary School in Van Nuys. The students had written their very own monologues and it was ridiculously fun helping them turn their writing into performances. The boldness in both taking direction and owning their work with pride was truly inspiring. The program is run through 'BookPALS', a division of The SAG Foundation, visit here for more info or to volunteer.

Shout Outs!

Finally, I helped out the following causes and projects that touched my heart, maybe they'll touch yours too:

Learning Ally - I'm so pleased to be donating my voice by recording audio books for children in need. Learning Ally is a national nonprofit with a defined approach to help support students with learning disabilities and their families. You can find out more information about the organization or donate here.
