Harper Jennings is fashion designer with her own label as Jen Harper. Maverick Jones is the owner of Jones Jym and the one common factor they share before they met is the wedge that could stand between them finding happiness. They both lost a friend Camille to bulimia. Maverick blames the fashion industry for Camille death and therefore anyone and everyone connected to the industry. But Jen Harper has a slightly higher rating on the dislike scale because Camille modeled for Jen Harper fashion line. What Maverick didn’t know was that Harper had her own battle with bulimia and it was Camille’s death that convinced her to get help and admit herself to rehab.

If you’ve read book 1 you also realize that the threads run much deeper, Ellyson is best friends with Maverick, to the point for consider each other like siblings and Harper is Carter’s older sister. The meeting between Harper and Maverick is more than a little confrontational not to mention electrical. Thankfully, Elly is there to snap Mav back to the reality of his behavior, Elly realizes that Mav is passing judgment in ways that aren’t in line with his personality but Mav also realizes that he’s not only reacting because of the past.

I greatly enjoyed this story. I would definitely recommend this series but I would caution that you read this series in order, starting with book 1, which is currently free on Amazon. I will also say that I liked book 1 better than book 2 but not because this book was any less than the 1st. Just the first felt more emotional highs and lows to me. I’ve already bought and loaded book 3 to my kindle if that tells you my take on the series.

Loved book one and this was just as good if not better.

Book one was about Elly and Carter. This is Maverick and Harpers story. Harper is a lovely strong character. She's been fighting an eating disorder for a long time. I just love Maverick. He's my new book boyfriend. He's a gym owner and a personal trainer. These two are fantastic together. The chemistry was electric. Love that we get to read more about the characters we met in book one.

This is a really great book that I loved. Highly recommend it.

If you are looking for a sweet, city-based romance, that tackles some rather important societal issues, then Fantasized By You may just be a perfect fit for your next read! Although this is Book 2 in the Love in the City series, and there is some carryover of the characters from Book 1 (Wanted by You), Fantasized By You can still easily be read as a standalone, as each book in the series focuses on the love story of a different couple.

Jen Harper, is a famous fashion designer, whose career is at a high, but whose love life has never really taken off. While she has been dealing with media pressure for years, she's never gotten fully comfortable with it, and has residual issues related thereto. It is those battle scars, in part, that lead her to Maverick Jones, a personal trainer and gym owner, whose gym provides a wholistic approach to helping its members get physically fit, including counseling and mental health.

Maverick, however, has a particular aversion to the fashion industry, as he still is reeling from the loss of a friend (who Jen also happened to work, and be friends, with), who was a model and whose death was attributable to the fashion industry's focus on thinness and "ideal beauty" above all else. 0 So when Jen offers to help serve as a mentor in his clinic, Maverick's initial reaction is: no thank you. Then, he meets Jen, and agrees to give her chance. Pretty soon, the two are inseparable, and they realize that they have much more in common than just their work at the gym.

Jen's involvement in the fashion industry, and limelight, however is not something that is easily escaped; and pretty soon Maverick is exposed to related residual obstacles. Will their love be able to survive?

All in all, Fantasized by You was an enjoyable easy going romance without too much drama between the hero's and heroine's interactions with each other, even while tackling some rather weighty issues. In that regard, I like how Steph Nuss has brought to light some very important issues, including eating disorders and stalking. The way Ms. Nuss deals with these difficult subjects is to be commended and adds an interesting informational element to this romance. I look forward to reading more of Ms. Nuss' works in the future!

What I’m loving about this series is that we aren’t trying to drag out a story and create drama for just one couple. I see far too many of those types of series around and both my fellow blogger Kristal and I aren’t particularly fans, but this way of approaching a romance series is one I can totally get on-board with! Each one of these books focuses on a separate couple and their love story, while keeping all of the characters involved throughout. So book 1 we had Carter and Elly and in this book, we have Maverick and Harper. If you’ve read book 1 then you’ll know Maverick as Elly’s faux brother / oldest friend and Harper as Carter’s sister and I am SO happy that they have ended up with their own love story!!!

Harper and Maverick have a mutual connection, a mutual tragedy that still affects both of them today and in turn their relationship with each other. Yes we get romance, we get two people who so definitely should be together. But we also get to tackle some very real storylines, again my heart was all over the place and I LOVED it.

We were introduced to these characters in the first book and I loved delving deeper into their stories and personalities. What really struck me is that each one of these characters vividly has their own ‘voice’ you never feel like you’re reading about the same person with a different name. While so far Carter and Elly are still my favourites I still loved the way that both Maverick and Harper were written. Actually, Maverick isn’t too far behind Carter on my book boyfriend list. I can see why Elly has been friends with him for so long, he’s almost the perfect guy!

Once again in this series we are reminded that this author tackles romance in a certain way. It’s unique and I love that I’m still as excited about this series as I was when I was reading the first book, I will definitely continue reading these books and can’t wait to see where each character ends up. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… If you’re a romance lover you really need to give these books a go!

To be honest I love a series that ENDS the characters story with each book. I hate cliffhanger So the next book better be Fletcher. Until then swooning over Maverick. Love the teaser and I am drooling over Maverick. I honestly say that creating Maverick is ruining it for every other guy on the planet, they will all seem inferior to his greatness. He is real to me! In book one we meet Harper, Carter's sister and I instantly loved her. Now for the story of Maverick, my love so hands off, and Harper. They sort of have a past connection. There is a mutual friend who dies as a result of bulimia, that is scary but Harper also suffered from it. The fact that Harper was forced by this death into rehab is a stunning revelation. I really really really loved that aspect of the story. She battles as does Maverick with the loss and the disease. It is good but by no means does this overshadow them.

Elly and Carter are getting married. Oh just imagine little hummingbirds circling their dreamy heads and Elly's mother smiling from heaven. Oh swoon. Yeah it will happen!

Maverick and Harper are perfect together and what I loved about both of them is that they accepted it. There was no angst involved here. Both Maverick and Harper are taken with each other and there is a very adult way the author handles them getting together.

Parts of the story that are light, for example, one bucket list check is paint balling. This is something from book 1. At this point they are broken up into teams Carter and Cash are picking and Carter picks his sister. OMG laughing so hard. Harper was archery captain and he says to Elly this is paintball not the Hunger Games. Just the visual is fabulous!

To further my swooning over Maverick he is a baller. The NCAA Final Four game tickets made me smile. Im my mind me and Maverick are hanging out watching NBA TV listening to Shaq and Charles with Ernie and his commentary.

The last thing to love is the fact that it is a series that ends the characters with each novel. In the ever so popular trend of series, this is different. Book one is Carter and Ellyson, book two Maverick and Harper and then book 3 had BETTER be Fletcher, if not well there will be trouble!.

I found this second installment of the Love In The City series to be much better than the first, flowing more smoothly and keeping my attention more focused. I loved learning more about Maverick, as I really liked his character in the first book. And Harper really comes across as a down-to-earth, strong woman who we learn has overcome a huge problem.

I LOVE Harper's attitude towards her models, and her acceptance and encouragement for all women's bodies since it sends a positive message in an industry not known for this type of sentiment.

Maverick. He is one of those sigh-worthy, swoon-inducing alpha males that you can just go ahead and add to your book boyfriend list right now whether you've read the book yet or not--because once you've read it, putting him on that list is a no-brainer.

A great story with moderate tension until you get toward the last portion when an incident with a character from Harper and her friend Max's past causes an emotional turn, Fantasized By You will keep you engaged and rooting for Harper and Maverick-a couple who it's easy to see are meant to be :-)

An engaging 4-star read, I'd definitely recommend for the 18+ contemporary romance lovers out there.

There is an ongoing trend so far in the Love In the City series and this - realness.

No unnecessary, overdrawn drama.
Straight & to the point plot.
H who lets the h know his intentions from the start and vice versa.

Of course there is some craziness thrown in there but it's tolerable. It did not deter me from reading nor did I roll my eyes once.

Harper Jennings and Maverick Jones were so freaking cute together and I loved the honesty that they both gave each other from day one of their relationship.

I'm pretty sure there will be more to their story in the next installment as we all eagerly await..... well, I won't spoil it here but we have some celebrating to do!

I received this for an honest review. I fell in love with Maverick and Harper's story. This was such a wonderful second book. I think I liked it just as much as I liked the first one. Again the Author just absolutely hooked me with this story. Harper is a fashion designer who has faced her own battle with Bulimia and is ready to help others. Maverick has a succesful gym where he is now opening a clinic in honor of a friend who died because of an eating disorder. Harper wants to help by being a mentor for the clinic although Maverick isn't sold on the idea since he wants nothing to do with the fashion industry. These two meet and you can just feel the chemistry radiating off the pages between them.
I enjoyed this book because it was not an insta-love but two souls needing each other. I just thought this book was a wonderful story.. Now that I have discovered Steph Nuss I am super excited for the next book!!!!

Favorite Quotes:

“He turned me inside out with one simple kiss, one swipe of his tongue, something no man had ever done, and in that moment, I wanted so much more from him than just a kiss. I wanted everything.”

“She was just more. And, for the first time in my life, I wanted more.”

“When I kissed you for the first time, I knew I wanted you to be the last woman I ever kissed for the rest of my life.”

My Review:

Another hit out of the ballpark! Swoon, I am in love and totally wanting to fan-girl Steph Nuss. I adore her writing. Another lovely, well written, entertaining, and sensual love story. I cannot wait to see who the next book in the series will focus on, but I suspect it will have something to do with a couple that meet on New Year’s Eve. There was a nice set-up for that anyway ;) I hope I am paying attention when book three comes out.

I didn’t read the first book in this series and am planning on reading it. I found I didn’t have a hard time since I didn’t read the first one. This touched on something serious that a lot of people struggle with. I was glad to see Harper get the help she needed. Maverick has a successful gym he runs and isn’t crazy about having Harper be a part of it in any way. This was a fun easy read that you won’t be able to put down. Looking forward to reading more from this author.

**ARC received for honest review; may contain spoilers**

This is the second book in the Love in the City series. The story focuses around Carter's older sister Harper, and Elly's childhood friend Mav. Harper is a very successful and famous fashion designer, Jen Harper, while Mav owns and operates a popular fitness center called Jones Jym.

The story starts as a flashback of Harper, during the time when she suffered from bulimia. At this time, she hears tragic new that one of her closest friends, Camille, has just passed away. Camille was a model for Harper's clothing line, and also suffered from bulimia. This unfortunate event makes Harper realize what she was doing to herself. She doesn't want to have the same fate as Camille. So she makes a promise to her friend Max, that she will seek help and check herself into rehab. At the same time, Mav was with his gang of friends when he heard the news of Camille's passing. Mav and Camille had a unique relationship, whether they were just friends or friends-with-benefits, the story never states the true nature. Mav's first reaction to the news is anger. He's mad that Camille never attempted to get help, no matter how many times he has tried. Mav ended all communication with Camille, he couldn't just sit and watch what she was doing to herself. And now he blames himself for ended their friendship. There's only so much one person can do to help another. They have to WANT to seek help.

I can honestly say I have no idea what it's like to suffer or what loved one/friend suffer from bulimia. Today's society is so harsh and cruel to women, always pointing out flaws and deficiencies no matter what you look like. The constant need for approval and acceptance will never go away. This book starts out with such an emotional tragedy. Just like in Wanted by You, the author throws you head-first into the story. I love that about this series!

Another huge reason why I love this series is the incorporation of the original characters. I strongly dislike bouncing around from book to book, having to learn about completely new characters every time. I seem to get lost and not fully enjoy the book as I can't remember the details as much. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy standalone books. But more frequent than not, the story seems to drag on and on, which makes the book seem unproductive and repetitive, causing me to lose interest. And I HATE not finishing a book.

Now the book takes you to present time. Mav is focused on his fitness center and health clinic. Harper is doing very well, beginning to realize that her life does not need to be picture-perfect. She is content, but still wants to find love. She wants a husband, children, and more specifically, the ever elusive "O" from someone other that herself. This was hilarious! Women know what it's like to be missing the big "O", so it's good to see the author transitioning from very heavy drama, to truthful humor. So while discussing Elly's wedding planning, I find it humorous that Harper wondered if her brother had any guys he could set her up with. And "hot guys" was implied. Not many sisters would approve of being set up by a brother.

As stated in the first book, Harper is interested in mentoring at Mav's health clinic. This is where she first meets Mav. Instant attraction! Mav is clearly attracted to Harper as well, but is not impressed whatsoever that she is a fashion designer. After the death of Camille, he absolutely despises the fashion industry. And he does nothing to hold back his hatred from Harper. He's downright rude, disrespectful, a prick, you name it. But once he finds out that she is Carter's sister, his attitude completely changed towards her. Now, I didn't particularly like that part; it gives the impression that he's rude to people he doesn't know because they might do something he doesn't like. So his whole attitude changing made it seem ok that he acted that way, cause now he can appreciate his strong attraction to her. I am not Team Mav at this point.

As the books moves along, you get to know a little bit more about the characters, along with a very steamy body massage Mav gives Harper. Mav is getting a little more tolerable, but he's still a horn-ball! I love how the author makes the character get right to the point. If you're attracted to someone, ask them out. No games, no chasing, just get down to it. So when Mav finally asks Harper to dinner, I did a little fist pump. HIGH FIVE FOR MAV! And that massage...I wanted to be the one lying on that table! I was actually hoping Mav would put the moves on Harper. But he was very respectable to ask her out first. What a gentleman...another point to Mav. Mav wasn't alone with his naughty mind. I believe Harper calls Mav a "walking sex fantasy" in her head.

Their first date was so romantic and easy going. Dinner, wine, fireplace, holding hands, and simply just talking and getting to know each other. I feel giddy at this point, like I personally set them up! I will never forget the question: Chocolate or vanilla? I'm just going to leave that as a surprise for those who haven't read the book! Mav has to be the perfect guy (besides Carter!). He's handsome, successful, charming, honest, sexy and the complete gentleman. He also does dirty-talk very well! At this point, steam is radiating of these two, with sparks flying that will turn into a raging fire of passion! I have not sensed one second of tension or awkwardness between the two. They are incredibly compatible!

Their relationship continues to grow. So it's only natural to throw in the first speed bump. Harper is traveling to Paris with her friend Max, to attend his movie premier. Mav is not happy that she is going with him, but he trusts her. Me on the other hand, can sense that something is going to happen. I just don't know very much about Max to know whether or not I can trust him. Better keep an eye on him. So when Max tries making his move and kisses Harper in a public restaurant, I KNEW IT! I was mad right along with Harper. Why did he do that to her when he knows she doesn't like the media. And now she is being portrayed as a cheating harlot, as pictures of her and Mav and been leaked online. And not only that, Harper is getting harassed again by Max's crazy-psycho stalker, Diana. Once Mav sees these pictures, he knows deep down that Harper would never cheat on him. And correct he was. Mav is simply amazing to Harper, comforting her over the phone. He reassures her that everything will be ok and he believes she wouldn't hurt him. And they finally confess their "I love you's". With them expressing their love for each other over the phone, reminds me of how I told my husband that I love him. Know it's true love when you can't seem to function with them next to you.

The book progresses very well, with no over-abundance of information. There is no wasted or lagged time. Hooked even more! As time passes, Harper completes her fashion show and helps a very troubled teen who suffers from anorexia. That was very difficult for Harper, but she stayed strong and confident. At this point, Harper decides to take a break from fashion. This shows true dedication and commitment to helping mentor others in need. This leads right into Valentine's Day, the first for them as a couple. SWOON....Mav give Harper the best give. A puppy! He remembered Harper telling him on their first date that she wanted to get a puppy. Such a romantic and thoughtful gift! So glad Mav didn't go with the typical card and stuffed bear holding a pillow that says, "Love you Bear-y much!". And the day couldn't be complete without nakedness, chocolate syrup, and hot sex! Mav does good woo!

As time passes, it's time for Elly's bridal shower in Texas. But Harper is not feeling well. My first thought: PREGNANT! I actually gasped when I read that she had been sick and nauseous. So when Harper gets sick again in front of Baylor, her sister takes a pregnancy test out of her purse and tells Harper to take it. Seriously...who carries pregnancy tests in their purse. This is too funny, Baylor is like a walking pharmacy! So Harper takes the test and.....I was right! Pregnant! I'm super excited for her and Mav, but she's nervous that it's very soon in their relationship. But all her worries are swept away when Mav couldn't be any happier with the news.

Everything has been going perfectly. This can only mean one thing: something bad is going to happen. And in comes that wacko, Diana. She attacks Harper, beating and almost killing her. But Mav shows up just in time and Harper is taken to the hospital. I wanted to cry because all I could think about is if the baby was alright. Poor Mav, he blames himself for Harper getting hurt, since he told her to meet him at home. But he is reassured that Harper will be fine and the baby is healthy. And Diana has been caught and in custody. She won't be going anywhere but prison for the rest of her life! Good Riddance! Everyone visits Harper while she's in the hospital. Tessa even paints her toenails "orange", as what Mav calls the color when really it's peach. Pfft....men. Tessa also talks to her while still unconscious about their favorite show, Revenge. I instantly recognized the show from Tessa talking about the characters, as it's my favorite too! Personally, I don't want Emily and Jack to get together, nor Emily and Aiden. I think she should stick with Daniel. I love how they are a real-life couple, they're absolutely adorable! Sorry, got carried away there! :) More good news was given to Mav and Harper while in the hospital....the baby is a girl. It's going to an absolute joy reading about how Mav is going to dote over the baby. She is going to have him wrapped around her little finger the second she's born! A true HEA! The way the author ended the book was great, as it builds up for the story in the next book in the series. I can't wait to read about the birth of the baby and the name they picked for her.

The first book explored the type of relationships that take years to build and become real. And the love the characters have for each other never diminished. So with this book, it was exciting to discover the story was about the reverse. How soon is too soon to fall in love? There will never be a correct or appropriate answer to that question. When it happens, and it feels right, it shouldn't matter if it took a week, a year, or if it was instant "love at first sight" like for Harper and Mav. These two characters were a fantastic match and complimented each other perfectly. Harper wanted a man to love her unconditionally, and to want everything she always dreamed of. Mav wanted what his parents never had, to have forever with the love of his life, to protect and to love and receive that love in return just as fiercely. Love can happen when you least expect it. It can't be forced. When the time is right, love knows no bounds, and it will find you!

This series has quickly become one of my favorites. Each character is easily relatable, and the story progresses smoothly. I recommend this book to anyone to enjoys reading about finding true love and an emotional HEA! Loved it!

Loved it!

1st: I read this book in less than one day! Devoured it when I was suppose to be working but I will tell you totally worth getting in trouble for!  Be warned: You will become addicted to this series.

We start off where "Wanted by You" left off which is Carter & Elly planning their wedding.

***HIGHLY SUGGEST:  You need to read Book#1 1st before reading this to better understand where the characters are at.***

Sooooo.... we get to finally get to know Maverick and Harper's connection in this series.

WOW!!! I totally fell hard for Maverick!  I want my own Maverick.  Like seriously where is he because if I find him, I'm totally kidnapping him.

"Chocolate or Vanilla?" I eyed him suspiciously.  "Are we talking dessert flavors or sex?

He laughed. "Both"

Chocolate will never look the same!  Damn Steph, you ruined me of course in a very good way.

Harper, she is Carter's sister who is a hard working fashion designer approaching being 30 years old and still has not her prince charming.  She has a past that was difficult that kept her from meeting that prince and once she meets Maverick, things totally change.

Maverick is a total romantic, caring, sexy, humorous & everything Harper wants in a man. He is also a total ALPHA male.  He does things his way and likes to take control & Harper likes it.

When Maverick and Harper 1st meet, it  doesn't start off well but soon enough, they get to know each other and things totally take a turn.

Steph Nuss's funny and sarcastic humor in her writing easily made this story entertaining.  Loved all the movie, music & TV references in the book.  Had me laughing out loud & saying to myself "YES! I totally can relate!"  Carter & the gang are always around cracking jokes and making it

The chemistry between Maverick and Harper heats up.  Like totally gets sexy!  Maverick just knows how to give it to Harper! Their love for one another starts off slow & grows into such a sweet & lovable relationship.  Again, I want a Maverick!!!  Where is he here in NYC?

But I gave him me -- all of me -- because, for the first time in my life, I no longer had to dream about the future.  It was right here in front of me. -Harper

I can't say it enough, this is a series that you must read.  Summer is here & if you are looking for a humorous fun read with romance & hotness that will heat you up!

Book ends with..... You will have to read it to find out.  All I know is I want Book#3 already!

Go get these books!

The gang is back together for book 2 in the Love in City series.

We met Maverick in book 1. He’s known Elly his entire life. His mother and her mother were best friends, but his home life was completely different than hers. His parents never had a loving marriage. His father cheated constantly and his mother was always unhappy. He did learn exactly what NOT to do in a relationship though. Seeing what his parents had made Mav realize what he didn’t want, which told him exactly what he did want. He hasn’t found it yet though. He’s opened Jones Jym in New York and it’s known as the best place in the city. He has everything exactly as he wants it even down to the clinic he’s opening. Several years ago, a model that Maverick knew died from complications from her bulimia. Since then Mav has hated the fashion industry and been determined to help others like her. He’s opening the clinic in her honor.

Carter’s sister, Harper, is a famous fashion designer and designs under the name Jen Harper. Growing up, she only had 2 dreams: becoming a fashion designer and fall in love. She’s only succeeded at one of those dreams so far. When the stress of her job, family and the media became too much for Harper, she dealt with it by binging and purging. When one of her model friends died 3 years from complications from bulimia, Harper’s friend, Max, convinced her to check into rehab. She’s been healthy for 3 years now and she’s ready to help other people cope with eating disorders by mentoring. When she meets Elly and learns of her association to Jones Jym and the clinic that is honoring her friend, she asks Elly to reach other to Mav about her being a mentor.

Mav has no desire to let Jen Harper mentor the patients at the clinic. In his mind, it’s her industry that pushes a lot of people to be so thin they have eating disorders. When Elly forces him to meet with her, he reluctantly agrees to a meeting. He didn’t expect to be hit over the head with attraction when he sees Harper though. His anger still takes over and he acts like an ass to Harper at their first meeting. When he learns her story, he immediately feels guilty.

Harper googled Maverick before their meeting, so she knew to expect a ridiculously attractive man at the meeting. When he walked into his office with gym shorts and no shirt, she realized clothes didn’t do justice to the sculpted and tatted gym owner. When he attacked her about her industry and leaving her friend’s funeral early, she didn’t back down in telling him her story. The regret she saw on his face allowed her to forgive him instantly.

Harper and Maverick see each other more and more after that meeting and Maverick realizes there is so much more to Harper than the Jen Harper image. He knows there is something special about her and goes after her. They feel a special something from the very first date and maverick is determined not let her go. Harper isn’t the kind of girl to jump into bed with a guy and they end up building up anticipation for weeks. Their relationship is fairy tale worthy, but what happens when her friend, Max, confesses his love and kisses her? Is their relationship strong enough to weather the paparazzi, tabloids and psychotic fans?

There is a fine line between love and hate, right? You knew reading Wanted by You that something was going to happen with Maverick and Harper. Maverick is a man’s man. He’s a personal trainer and gym owner. He’s focused on being healthy and helping others become healthy, which is exactly what he’s doing with the clinic. His sculpted body makes him sexy and his tats give him a bad boy edge. He’s also honest, caring, romantic and perceptive. Harper lives a laid back life nowadays. Her career has always been a focus, but she prioritizes her health and her privacy. She wants to love and be loved, but she doesn’t want someone that will look at her and see her money or her fame. She’s a hopeless romantic, but hasn’t had the best of luck with men. Regardless of her fame, she’s pretty innocent and has a huge heart.

Maverick brings out all of her sensuality and makes her feel safe and cherished. I love how they prioritize their relationship and are completely honest with eachother. Maverick is very protective of her, but he’s super secure in their relationship. He’s not threatened by other men, but he is irritated with Max and his actions.

Don’t get me wrong though. Maverick and Harper don’t have an easy road. The media has been publishing about Harper and Max’s relationship for years and when Max adds fuel to the media fire, they have more than Max and the media to contend with. Can they make it through everything? Will Harper revert back to her old ways? How far with fans take the stories about Harper and Max?

I have started to speculate about what happens with the next book and the other members of their group. I was shocked to learn about the Jane Doe and John Smith connection, though, and I can’t wait to see where that storyline goes? I will definitely be reading the other books in this series and I can’t wait until they come out.

The gang is back!! Steph Nuss has knocked another one out of the park with the second book in her Love in the City series~Fantasized by You. Fun, fabulous, sexy, dangerous, with an undercurrent of perseverance, strength and determination. It was pretty damn perfect ;)

She was no longer just a fashion designer to me. She was Carter's sister; someone who'd be in my life forever now. She was the woman who finished rehab and wanted to help others. She was the woman with a sweet disposition and sex appeal. Forgetting her was impossible.

~Harper Jennings is about to hit the big 3-0 and though her career has taken off far beyond her wildest expectations, she is still missing the husband and children she always dreamed she would have had by now. Being a world famous fashion designer isn't as glamorous as one might think; she never has the time to focus on her personal life and all the men she meets are only after her for her fame and money. But when she meets the owner of Jones Jym, where she will be mentoring at their heath clinic, she could never have anticipated how far he would knock her world off it's axis.

~Maverick Jones isn't thrilled about the fact that his new mentor is a fashion designer. He lost a friend due to bulimia and he blames the fashion industry for her condition. But when he meets the famous Jen Harper and realizes who she is, then learns of her history, he begins to have second thoughts about being so quick to judge her. Of course, it doesn't hurt that he wants her like he has never wanted any woman before and she intrigues him like no other, but it is her strength and determination that pulls him under. Her wants to make all her wildest fantasies come true, but finding love in the city when the media is always in your face and there is a crazed stalker on the loose isn't exactly easy.

I'd never dated guys who really wanted to get to know me-the real me. All they ever seemed to care about was showing off. I hadn't had guys want anything from me except fame and fortune, but Maverick wanted neither of those things.
He just wanted me.
And I loved that about him.

As with the first book in this series ~Wanted by You~ this book is chock full of everything you would want in a romance; fabulous characters, sexy SEXY chemistry, fun and laughs, drama and a fast paced story, but there's also heartbreak surrounding some real life issues people face~this aspect of the book hit close to home for me as I can personally relate. I do have one teeny tiny gripe though; insta-love was most definitely present in this book. That generally drives me bat-shit crazy, however, I am so completely in love with these characters and this author that for once I don't really give a damn. It was so much fun being back in the lives of these people; while the story does focus on Maverick and Harper, we do get to spend a lot of time with the rest of the gang while plans for Carter and Elly's wedding move forward. PLUS I am hoping ***fingers crossed*** that I have figured out who the next book is gonna focus on. Lets just say, when a certain two people see each other at the wedding of the century, things will get very very interesting. Gawd I hope I'm right Lol. Either way, I am going to be climbing the walls until the next book comes out. I have very quickly become addicted to this series, these characters, and Ms. Steph Nuss. This woman has earned herself a permanent spot on my 'One-Click Addiction' list and I don't see her ever going anywhere.

He was the one thing that made everything in my life right-the true north on my compass. Even during dark times, he stood by my side and led me to light.

3.5 out of 5 stars

Fantasized By You was an easy read and a fun addition to Steph Nuss' Love In the City series. While this book can be read as a stand-alone I enjoyed getting to see more Maverick and Harper after having first met them in Wanted By You. While one might consider a top fashion designer and a gym owner who hates the fashion industry with a passion and subsequently anyone associated with it an unlikely couple Harper and Maverick have no problems proving them wrong!

One might think Harper Jennings has it all. A celebrity in her own right due to her coveted designs who lives in NYC and travels all over the world, some may think she has the perfect life but Harper a recovering bulimic wants nothing more than to work a little less and find happiness in her personal life. To one day have a husband who loves and cherishes her and little ones who depend on her as their mother. But, she's nearing thirty and she's afraid she won't find a HEA in her personal life.

Maverick Jones wasn't looking to fall in love, especially not with a fashion designer. After all it's her industry he blames for the death of one his close friends due to anorexia. He's held a grudge ever since, no longer wanting to feel helpless he finally succeeds in his mission to open a health and wellness clinic at his gym for people struggling with all sorts of vices, especially eating disorders. How's someone whose sole profession aids in leading women down the path of destruction in the form of eating disorders going to be able to help anyone. Maverick quickly learns you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover and he soon realizes there's much more than first impressions when it comes to Harper Jennings.

I really liked Maverick, other than his initial quick rash judgement and reaction towards Harper, he was all around a great guy, perfect really for Harper. He was able to allow her the opportunity to be herself, with no shame. The way he showed her respect and gave honesty allowed her the chance to become confident in herself in regards to their relationship. I loved how what they had from day one was built on honesty and trust. He could care less about her celebrity status, he fell in love with the person behind the stage name. A person who quickly changed his life, giving it more meaning. He was so sweet and protective of her and I loved how he didn't jump to conclusions or let others sway his mind. He put faith in her, gave her his trust and always had her best interest at heart. Even when he was jealous he put her feelings first. He was a true class act. I can see why Harper fell for him so quickly.

Harper was a pretty awesome female character. I loved how strong she grew to be after rehab, how she wouldn't settle for less than exactly what she wanted in her personal life. I appreciated how she valued her time with Maverick and also how passionate she was to helping other girls and women recover from the demons which lead them to anorexia and bulimia.

It was a very cute predictable story, but that's okay with me. I don't mind predictable, in fact I often find comfort in those kind of stories, but if I could have wished for something more with this book it would have been more depth. I felt as though my connections with both characters remained somewhat on the surface. It's as though the words said, they're falling in love, but I didn't really feel myself connecting emotionally. I don't know if it is because I felt as though their relationship and the story was rushed, or if I just needed more of a backstory, more of a build up of them falling in love. One of the things I love most about the story is watching the characters individually fight the brewing chemistry, each encounter leading them closer and closer to the inevitable and then boom it happens! But in this story Maverick and Harper get together and fall in love so quickly that I don't think it gave me enough time to find myself on pins and needles waiting for the moment for the two to push past their reservations and no longer deny the chemistry. If that even makes sense!

It's a fun installment to this series and I will certainly be looking out for the next book, which I am hoping is Fletcher's story. I'm already super intrigued as to how things are going to transpire for him!

This was a very quick read and book two in this series. This is also told in first person but we get both of their perspectives interchangeably throughout the story.

This story can be read as a standalone so you don't need to read the first book to know what's going on but I would give book one a go just because both Harper and Maverick were first introduced in that one and it would have been great to see how they both change from then to now in their own book. In here we also got to see how things are going with couple number one, Elly and Carter, so that was nice to see. Plus I ended up purchasing book one because it was free, so go get it while it lasts.

Harper is a fashion designer one of her top dreams to be as a child and the other dream is falling in love. Unfortunately she has only hit one of those dreams and it's not the falling in love one. She's also nearing her thirties and finding love and starting a family of her own is nearly impossible with how her life works around the clock. She also has a problem of sorts. With being a designer and a fashionista, she has to keep up her image of slim figure and great body, plus, her stars and clients’ needs to look good and a good looking designer has to keep up with fashion so, she has an ugly history with an eating disorder, bulimic. But that was in the past and now history, but that doesn't stop it from being brought back up for discussion when she volunteers at a center to mentor eating disorders and encounters the sexy trainer there Maverick.

Maverick is not a fan of fashion and all their hype. He hates them like the devil himself because it was because of their tag lines, skinning models, and trends that caused the death of one of his close friends to anorexia. That's why he opened up a Fitness and Wellness center at his gym and even has a center for those fighting eating disorders. But then in comes Harper and all his bearings is lost. He's attracted to this lady but critically judges her for her career choices and fights hard not to fall for her. But behind her shell is something more and he begins to see pass her facade and learn not to be quick to judge.

Both these characters are great together! I can see why they make a perfect match. They actually complement each other in helping the other see and find the best that they can be. Maverick was wonderful! He was a perfect hero for Harper because even though he had a huge grudge against what social media and fashion does to self-esteem and body image he was willing to put aside Harper's career and help her through her crisis. He was there to help her up when she was down in the hole and falling fast and he was there to hold her up and give her faith to fight through it. And Harper was a strong and passionate woman. When she wants something she goes for it. Sure she had an eating disorder but when she got through it she became an even stronger character. She also showed Maverick that she can be a part of his center because she's been through it and survived it so she understands the hardships of going through an eating disorder and what it can do to a person. So she became a major benefit in his center in helping and counseling the group there. Both of them are strong, loyal, and passionate about what they do and want, and that includes wanting each other.

There were many characters that were introduced and I believe they'll get their own story, so I'm quite looking forward to that.

So all in all, this was a very nice and quick read. There's not really any angst to the story but it can be a tough and bumpy ride, plus throw in a bit of suspense and the story is a well rounded story! This will make you smile like crazy because of the many adorable and sweet scenes and it'll definitely make you happy when you reach the end.

"Although if I was being honest with myself, I was already lost, but I didn't want to die."

Steph Nuss weaves a tale of a famous fashion designer struggling with a reality of needing control that she is trying to overcome. It is gritty and heartbreaking at times, but also beautiful and heartwarming. I would definitely recommend this story to those who also struggle to persevere through their internal battles. This was a 4 star read for me and Steph Nuss did a great job in bringing the reader into the story, making us feel the emotions that the characters had throughout the novel.

Jen Harper, the beautiful fashion designer who appeared to have it all was how she was known to the world, but Harper Jennings the woman who struggled to control her life through bulemia, was how she was known to her family and friends. After a close friend and model loses her life to the same eating disorder, Harper's best friend Max convinces her that she needs to enter rehab in order to not have the same fate. "I grew up surrounded by love and support but, while I was still loved and supported by tons of fans, the bulimia and the stress took over my dreams." Harper did exactly what Max begged her to do, following her friend Camille's funeral, she hopped a plane to a rehab facility in order to get herself well, so that she would fight the battle against bulimia and win.

Maverick Jones was a gorgeous, intelligent and loving guy, who always seemed to want to help those around him, one of those people he had tried to help had been Camille. After learning of her death, he became angry that he wasn't able to do more to stop her from the fate of death that bulimia gave her. In her honor, and to try help those in similar situations with eating disorders, he opened up a clinic adjacent to his gym with counselors and mentors to help those that struggled to beat this illness daily. He had a bad taste in his mouth surrounding the fashion industry, as he believed it was what lead Camille down the path to her death. His best friend since childhood, Ellyson or Elly as she was often referred to as, was marrying Harper's brother and it was with that connection that Harper and Maverick finally meet.

Maverick is immediately angry with Harper, and does nothing to hide that fact when they meet regarding her working as a mentor at his clinic. "Tell me, what in God's name was so important that you had to leave when you were part of the reason we buried her. She made damn sure she fit in all those designer clothes of yours." Maverick's words were harsh and were spoken out of his grief for not being able to help Camille more then he had, but all it took was Elly laying into him and telling Harper's own story of survival that had him softening his tone. It was soon after that he couldnt get Harper Jennings out of his mind and they started to become close and eventually date.

Even with Harper's long time body guard and friend Imani trying to keep her safe, Harper was not immune to the craziness of the paparazzi and how fans can become obsessed. Through all of the obstacles that were thrown in their way, from misleading pictures of Harper & Max, to stories printed in the papers about their relationship, Maverick and Harper's bond grew stronger resulting in them on their way to becoming parents. I won't ruin the details of the story for potential readers with any spoliers, but the sex scenes were hot and the words spoken to each other actually had me saying "awwww" on more then one occasion.

My only issue with the story was the ending. Is there a sequel? I loved the happily ever after type ending that wasn't completely gift wrapped, but very realistic. What is the baby's name? Will the reader ever find out?

I LOVE THIS SERIES!! I could not wait for this book to be released and I tore into it and never looked back. The Love in the City series is one of my new favorites. Each book is a standalone but they all intertwine together. The story is continuously moving and picks up right where the last one left off but with a different set of characters. I highly recommend reading them in order otherwise there will be spoilers in this book.

Harper Jennings is a fashion designer in NYC. We met her briefly in book one and I fell in love with her character. She is super sweet and isn't the rich stuck up designer snob you would expect her to be. She is down to earth and has dealt with some serious issues. As she fast approaches thirty she thinks that she will never find love and be truly happy. Little did she know Maverick Jones was about to walk into her life and change all that.

"He was smart. He was gorgeous. He was everything I'd always dreamed about. Just when I was giving up the plan, Maverick Jones walked into my life and I couldn't stop thinking about him."

Maverick Jones is sex on a stick HOT. He owns Jones Jym and has become my favorite charater. I thought that Carter was sweet and husband material. He doesn't have anything on Maverick. OH MY GOODNESS. Maverick is completely swoon worthy and I loved every minute of his story.

"When I kissed you for the first time, I knew I wanted you to be the last woman I ever kissed for the rest of my life."

SWOON!

This is the story of Harper and Maverick and I laughed, I swooned, I even cried. I became attached the characters and never let go. At first, what brings them together seems to be the one thing that will tear them apart. They both have a mutual friend that passed away yet they don't know one another. Maverick HATES the fashion industry and Harper just wants to help people beat the disease that took over her life for quite some time. Their first encounter was rough and seeing them build from that and form a true relationship was amazing. The angst level is in this book is very minimal. There are things that happen that will tear your heart out but they won't make you want to throw your kindle across the room. Harper and Maverick are my new favorite couple. Sorry Carter and Elly, but you have been replaced. Maverick is going to be VERY hard to top but I can't wait to see if Steph Nuss can do it.

My favorite part about this series is that we never know who's book is going to be next. All of the books are up on Goodreads but there are no synopsis on any of them. I love looking for clues to see who's book is going to be next. I think I have a pretty good idea who is coming next. I can't wait to see it unfold. I have a feeling the next book will be just as good if not better than this one. Each book seems to get better and better and the men in these books get hotter and even sweeter.

Another reason I love this series is because each book deals with a serious issue. The color on each cover represents the issue that is being dealt with in the book. They aren't just a little part of the book, they are something that is dealt with throughout the entire book and watching the characters evolve with it makes these books that much better. You will become attached to them and will feel like you are right there beside them while the figure everything out.

This series is one that I HIGHLY recommend.

Review originally posted at Ramblings From This Chick

Fantasized by You is the second book in the Love in the City series by Steph Nuss. This book can easily be read as a standalone with interconnected characters. I was really excited when I found out that this was Maverick and Harper's story. I really liked Maverick after reading the first book, and I loved his friendship with Elly. It was great to see a different side of him in this book though, and I really enjoyed his and Harper's story.

Maverick Jones is a personal trainer and successful gym owner, but he is opening up a clinic within his gym to help those with eating disorders. When his best friend Elly brings up the idea of having mentors within the clinic, he reluctantly agrees to meet with someone that she says wants to help out. When Maverick meets Harper though, they quickly get off on the wrong foot. While Harper is beautiful and Maverick is attracted to her, she is also a fashion designer. Maverick has a problem with the fashion industry and the expectations that they place on women. But he soon realizes that Harper is more than just her job and that he wants her in his life and in his bed.

Maverick was impossible not to fall in love with. I really loved his character in the first book, and I loved his friendship with Elly. But in this story we get to know him better and see what makes him who he is. He was smart and successful, and I loved how open and honest he was. He was a fun guy that wasn't afraid to apologize when he needed to or say what he was feeling, and I really admired that. I loved Harper from the start. She was smart and beautiful, and had been through a lot. I loved that she wanted to use her past and pain to help others in similar situations to hers. She was a good person, and I thought that she was perfect for Mav. They were so cute together, and I loved how real and believable they were together. They had a ton of chemistry, but they were also just one of those cute couples that you can't help but be envious of.

Overall, this was a great addition to the series. I really love all these characters and I loved seeing Elly and Carter again. But Maverick and Harper were so much fun to read about and I really lost myself in their story. I couldn't stop turning the pages, and I enjoyed every bit of their book. These two were super cute, and I can't wait to get more in this series. I love how light and easy these books are to read. Steph Nuss has done a great job of creating these likable characters that are all so different, but fit together perfectly. Their group has such great chemistry as a whole, but I really love watching them all pair off as well. What really makes this series so great though is that these books are all so real. There isn't a ton of angst and drama, and the characters are open and honest. It is really refreshing and makes these books so great to read. I highly recommend this series to contemporary fans, and I think that this series is one that everyone can find something to relate to. But if you are a romance fan, I think that you will enjoy this series regardless of what genre you normally read. I can't wait to get more of all these characters and from Steph Nuss in the future.

Delightful story of the love of Harper and Maverick. Mav never planned on having a relationship and Harper had given up on finding someone for forever happiness. So when their paths crossed for the first time, they both were surprised by the attraction. It is a very enjoyable reading experience watching their love for each other grow stronger with each page. When evidence seemed to indicate Harper had cheated, Mav gave her the benefit of a doubt and did not allow jealousy to inflict its poison. The most suspenseful scene was near the end when violence threatened to end their story too soon. Well written, lovable and realistic characters with just enough challenges to spice up the story-line. I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Five Stars.

Maverick really gets my motor running! Harper is his perfect counter part. This book made me laugh, cry and even made me a little mad. Although I have read the other book in this series, there is just something special about this one for me. I identified very much with Harper. Seeing how Maverick is with her just made me melt. The scene setting in this installment was a little better for me as well. I can picture myself sitting in Harper's apartment. The other characters from the first book all make appearances in this one as well. Elly and Carter's story continues a little bit but does not overwhelm Harper and Maverick. Sex scenes are great as well. More drama in this installment but not as angsty. I know there are more installments to this story but I just wanna hang out with Maverick for a little while longer.

This can be read as a stand alone and does have an HEA but there is a little "name" cliffhanger in this one. So I guess I have to read the next installment to find out what happens. If I must, I must. LOL

Another great book by Steph Nuss. The story of Harper and Maverick is breathtaking and will grab you attention from the beginning. The details are wrote with just the right amount of wording without the story dragging on or leaving anything out. It played through my head like a good movie. I would highly suggest reading this series in order. Each book is someone's story, but they also circle around the story of Ellyson and Carter in Wanted by You. I'm ready for the next book in the series.

~~~~~~~~~~Patricia's ★★★★★ Review~~~~~~~~~~
The story to Maverick and Harper is one of two people finding what they have always wanted but hadn't found yet. Harper is a well know Fashion Designer who goes by Jen Harper. Some things from Maverick's past has him disliking Fashion Designers. This book revolves around a disease that Harper had years ago but has since fought it. She wants to get involved with Maverick's Gym and Mentoring program. Will these to be able to over come what has happened to them in the past and move forward with their lives? When Harper has things start happening to her because of an old friend will she be able to survive what is in store for her? This was a story that was written in a way that it drags you into the story and you feel what they are going through.
"Fantasized by You" is a light hearted romance and the second book in this series. It can be read as a standalone without any trouble. In this series each installment centers around and brings conclusion to the focal couple in a central group of friends & family, therefore it can be read out of order with ease.
This installment centers around Harper Jennings (aka THE Jen Harper). She is a high-end fashion designer and pseudo celebrity due to her famous clientele and her close friendship with one of her former models turned latest Hollywood action star. She hates all of the media and tabloid attention and deals with the stress in a very unhealthy way which leads her right into in path of Maverick Jones. Maverick is a successful personal trainer and gym owner who focuses on physical health. When a close friend dies from an unhealthy lifestyle while he is unable to help, he starts to focus on the mental side of health as well and incorporates a clinic in to his gym that offers medical services, therapy and counseling to clients with more intensive health needs. Maverick is one of the good guys. A man with a heart as big as his muscles and his wallet. When his friend Elly suggests that Maverick consider bringing Harper on as a counselor at the clinic he instantly refuses. He knows who Jen Harper is and he doesn't like or trust anyone in the Fashion Industry. A industry notorious for promoting "ideal beauty" over health and wellbeing and often pushing their models into the dangerous situations that he is fighting so hard to help woman overcome. He has no idea what Harper has lived through or overcome herself. She understands and can help his clients in a way that he never could. So he reluctantly agrees to give her a chance... a chance at the clinic leads to a chance at his heart.
Okay I called this book a "light romance" because it IS light on the romance end. Maverick and Harper's relationship advances very easily and somewhat predictably. I love the honest, respectful and adult way they both approach every situation they find themselves in. It's a grown up romance from the very beginnning. This is not an angsty read in the least and honestly I didn't feel it needed angst to keep me engaged. The "meat" of this book is in it's dealing with a few heavy issues. Eating Disorders and Stalking to be precise. In the case of Harper Jennings these subjects intertwine in her life. Both scary. Both heavy. I liked how Steph Nuss addressed them in a manner that didn't bring the story down to a despressive state yet she managed to convey the seriousness and very real dangers of both. Weaving these in and still peppering the story with sweet lovable moments and humorous dialog from the tight knit group of characters made it a very balanced and rich story. I look forward to seeing where Ms. Nuss takes us in the next book... I hope it is Fletcher's *fingers-crossed*
4 Stars!!
This was another good story from the Love in the City Series. I liked that I was able to go from Book 1 straight into Book 2 so that everything was still fresh in my head. You meet Harper Jennings and Maverick Jones in Book 1. Harper is Carter's sister, and Mav is Elly’s best friend. It was nice to already know their history prior to starting their book.
Harper is a high end fashion designer that looks good from the outside, but is anything but on the inside. To everyone’s eyes, she looks like she has it all but no one knows that she struggles with Bulimia. She didn’t do it to be skinny; she did it because she couldn’t handle the pressure and stress of her everyday life. Then one day, she finds out that one of her close friends passed away, a friend that was also struggling with the same sickness. So, with the help of her best friend Max, she checks herself into rehab to start a new life….
”Although, I was being honest with myself, I was already lost, but I didn’t want to die.”
Maverick (Mav) owns a high end gym in New York City. Mav had a close friend of his, Camille, pass away due to Bulimia and always felt he didn’t do enough to help her fight her sickness. So in honor of her memory, he opens a clinic within his gym that will help counsel and guide people that are struggling with eating disorders. Being close friends with Mav, Elly suggest that he should also use mentors that have experience with dealing with eating disorders so that his clients have someone they can talk to; someone who can relate to what they are going through. Mav agrees and Elly sets up an appointment for him to meet Harper to see if she can help.
When Mav and Harper meet for the first time, it doesn’t go well. Mav realizes who Harper is and what she does for a living and wants nothing to do with her. Then, things change and soon he can’t seem to keep her out of his head.
Once they get past their rocky road, sparks start to fly and they both realize that their feelings towards each other are more than just 2 people working together. One thing nice about this book was that their relationship went pretty smooth. There was a little drama here and there but nothing that got between them. It did also have a little suspense due to a situation that involved Max, Harper's best friend.
This was a good continuation to Wanted by You, and I am looking forward to reading more about the rest of the gang!! I wonder if Max will have a book, and I'm hoping that the next book will be about Carter and Harper's younger sister, Bayler. She is too funny, and I am really enjoying her character!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It had the plot I enjoy the most. Where the heroine and hero meet and don't play any games or deny their attraction, and their relationship is drama free for the most part. Not to say there wasn't any drama in the book! Just not OTT angst between the couple.
They both accept that they want each other and go for it.
So, what's this about?
Harper is a famous fashion designer who is turning thirty in a couple months and still hasn't met her prince charming yet, or started on that family she has always wanted. She has also battled bulimia in her past and wants to mentor at Maverick's clinic because it started in memory of her deceased close friend, who Mav also knew.
They don't get off on the right foot, with Mav making rash judgements about Harper because of the industry she works in, the same one that strives for perfection over health. But he quickly realizes he's being a dick and they move on. Harper isn't looking for anything casual, she's ready to get married and have kids, especially after seeing her little brother find his happily ever after. Will Mav be the man she needs? Or will he shy away from commitment?
My Thoughts:
- I loved Mav and Harper's relationship! It was so real and they were so honest with each other. Even when there were hurdles in their path, they passed over them smoothly. The trust and love between them was beautiful.
- They did move a little fast in their relationship, but you know what, I don't even care.
- One thing I could have done without was that part about Harper never having the "Big O" with a man. Of course Mav's magic penis will be the one to cure that. It's like since Harper's not a virgin, there has to be something that only the hero can give her, to set him apart or something.
- The side characters were a nice addition as well, even though I didn't care too much about them. I can see that this series has 10 books! (including novellas) No wonder there were so many of them. I'm just glad I started early on. The next book is about Harper's sister and Mav's friend. And they're both the love 'em and leave 'em type! I've always said that if the hero is going to be a womanizer then I want to heroine to have played the field as well. I hate manwhores with virginal heroines, so this will be interesting.
Overall, this was an enjoyable, romantic--although a little corny at times--read that I really liked! Looking forward to reading more in this series.
Harper Jennings is a successful fashion designer and recovered bulimic. Maverick Jones is a personal trainer who owns his own gym. His friend, Elly, is marrying Harper’s brother, Carter, but Harper is not who he’s expecting when Elly wants him to interview a new mentor for his fitness center clinic. But after a slightly awkward introduction, or in spite of, Harper and Mav hit it off and are hot for each other.
“I imagined her spread eagle on my kitchen table. I had dreams of her tied to my bed and begging for more…” –Mav
A massage. A first date. Their relationship quickly takes off.
“Where have you been all my life?” –Harper
Mav is quite swoon-worthy. He is rather the fantasy man. Fit, tattooed, understanding, romantic, and sexy. There’s a bit of fairy-tale quality to this boy. But what probably is most admirable is the way they communicate with each other. They are honest and don’t hold things back which allows for the story to have drama but without angst. And the drama is intermingled with the romantic moments that Mav and Harper share, told via their alternating first person POV.
A trip to Paris for the premier of her friend Max’s movie reveals more to Harper than she realized. And as the girls prepare for Elly’s wedding, Harper discovers a little surprise. There’s enough excitement and twists to keep the pages turning along with the fantasies that Mav and Harper fulfill for each other.
In addition, as part of the Love in the City series, each book brings awareness to an issue surrounding women. This book deals with eating disorders, specifically bulimia. The topic is woven into the story well. It is an aspect of Harper’s past and an issue within her business world, but it doesn’t define her, nor does the topic ever become preachy.
Friendship is also an important aspect of the series, and while each book is technically a stand-alone, characters and plot-lines carry over. Elly and Carter from book one are planning their wedding in this book, and there’s a hint at the focus of book three. But each book is a complete story ending on a sweet note. And I’m definitely looking forward to the next one!
