Family is an important aspect of many big movies; it is often that the core emotional narrative of many films involves family in some capacity. There are plenty of movies that deal with the subject, although far fewer that actually see siblings teaming up with one another.
In the cases where there are sibling duos at the center of these movies, there are some truly phenomenal teams. Whether they are extremely intelligent, powerful, or perhaps just a great pair, these siblings have showcased what it means to be related and how important family really is in the face of danger.
Onward: Ian And Barley Lightfoot
Pixar's Onward introduced the world to a brand new duo. Ian and Barley Lightfoot may not have got off on the right... foot together. They argue a lot and Ian seems to think that his older brother is a bit of a failure already.
However, after going on a quest to see their father one last time, these brothers go on a truly emotional journey. The two demonstrate why they make such a great team, coming together closer in the process, with Ian realizing that Barely had always been a father to him in many ways.
Enola Holmes: Sherlock And Enola Holmes
There have been a lot of depictions of Sherlock Holmes on screen. Often he is paired with Watson or his brother Mycroft. The relationship between the two brothers is frosty at the best of times. Despite both being brilliant in their own ways, they are too different.
It was quite refreshing, therefore, to see Sherlock interact with his younger sister, Enola. Both are equally intelligent but bring something different to the table. In many ways, Enola is Sherlock's equal, using emotional intelligence her older brother can't quite muster.
Spy Kids: Juni And Carmen Cortez
Juni and Carmen are a part of many a childhood, after the two learned that they were actually part of a spy family. The kids quickly had to adapt to the situation and went on a number of crazy adventures that saw them master the art of espionage.
From siblings that used to argue and fight all the time, to a brother and sister who know how to rely on one another's skills and work together. These spy kids really wouldn't have been able to save their parents without some proper teamwork.
Frozen: Elsa And Anna
Elsa and Anna might be two of the most famous sisters in the world. Their Disney films are all about sisterhood and family being one of the most important things. They share a bond unlike anyone else on screen, partially because of their childhood troubles.
From becoming the snow queen herself, to finally finding the place where she belongs, Elsa has had a difficult journey. Despite the turmoil, Anna has stuck by her side through thick and thin. Even though the status quo has now changed these sisters will always support one another.
Thor: Loki And Thor Odinson
The adopted brother Thor and Loki have quite the complex relationship. Best friends at a younger age, the two started to drift from one another as Thor continued to become the favorite of their father. At some stage Loki snapped, changing the course of their brotherhood.
In the years since they have mended this bond and actually learned how to work together. Loki proved how far he had come by finally redeeming himself, sacrificing his life in order to save Thor. It's a heartbreaking moment but one that demonstrates the power of family.
Harry Potter: Fred And George Weasley
The Weasleys are a big family but two stand out amongst the rest. There's a bond amongst the Weasley twins, Fred and George, that no one else quite has. The practical jokers have always looked out for each other, no matter the situation.
From their early days pulling pranks, to leaving school early and setting up their own business, they were together until the very end. The death of Fred brought that partnership to an end in an emotional moment that has always haunted fans.
Narnia: Peter And Lucy Pevensie
Narnia may be getting a reboot over at Netflix, but the original group who went through the wardrobe is a strong family that might not be rivaled. However, Lucy and Peter were perhaps in many ways the best of the bunch.
With Peter as the fearless leader, ready to jump into battle, and Lucy the caring and kind youngest member of the family, they made quite a great team. Sure the others are important too, but it feels like the story really focuses on this brother and sister.
A Series Of Unfortunate Events: Violet And Klaus Baudelaire
The Baudelaires are an incredibly famous family thanks to the award-winning children's books and the fantastic Netflix adaptation, but once upon a time they all received their own unfortunate film, which killed the franchise for some time.
Despite this, the team of Klaus and his sister Violet are pretty much unmatched when it comes to problem-solving as a unit. One is a top-level researcher and the other is a talented inventor. Together they really are quite the formidable team.
Black Panther: T'Challa And Shuri
T'Challa and Shuri may be royalty, but they still have conflicts like any other household. Despite this, each of them has learned to respect one another quite quickly. Furthermore, each sibling has managed to find their rightful place in Wakanda.
T'Challa is a powerful and noble kind, a strong warrior on the battlefield. Shuri really is the brains of the operation, although she's not afraid to get her hands dirty. Wakanda is certainly proud to have such a great brother and sister duo at the helm.
Star Wars: Luke Skywalker And Leia Organa
Although the big secret of Luke and Leia's shared heritage was kept for quite some time, the brother and sister really are a great team, even without knowing they are related. They both offer up something quite different to one another.
Luke is a Jedi, a warrior and a peacekeeper. Leia is a politician, a fighter and a princess. Together they are an impressive unit and are capable of taking down whole Empires thanks to their grit and abilities.
