Students at Romeo Dallaire Secondary School in Barrie took a pledge Monday to help stop a serious problem – bullying.

“I'm going to try to stop bullying when it happens, and tell as many people as I can to make it stop,” said Grade 10 student Benjamin McEwen.

More than 200,000 people, including Barrie’s Mayor Jeff Lehman, have taken the pledge.

“If you take one message away from today,” said Lehman, “when you take the pledge from all of these people who are here and the organizers of this campaign … please remember when you see it, to do something about it because that really is the most important thing you can do.”

This is the 4th year the campaign has run.

This is the first school in our area to take the pledge this year and 240 students promised to stand up to bullying.
