And then there were two.

Mesa's second microbrewery, the Beer Research Institute, is open, near Stapley Drive and U.S. 60. Matt Trethewey and brewer Greg Sorrels co-own the new spot, which also is a restaurant.

Look for signature beers such as Lolli, a Belgian blonde with an 8.2 percent alcohol by volume; and Vanilla Porter, a 5.5 percent alcohol by volume American-style porter.

Selections from the from-scratch kitchen include carne asada, machaca, grilled chicken and carnitas tacos ($10.99), all served with rice and beans.

Grilled wings ($8.99), pretzel nuggets ($5.99) and poutine ($8.99) are among the appetizers. Sandwiches include cheesesteak, Cuban, burger and pulled pork with housemade bourbon barbecue sauce and jalapeño coleslaw (all $8.99).
