CFC100 lands with Guelph Gryphons

Guelph adds a top prospect to their 2018 class.

CFC100 Kiondre Smith, a wide receiver from Bill Crothers Secondary School, will be looking to further the Smith name in football after signing with the University of Guelph Gryphons.

Smith is the son of former pro-footballer Adrion Smith, who played in both the CFC and NFL after attending Southwest Missouri State University. Adrion is a three-time Grey Cup champion and six-time CFL all-star.

Smith has made quite the name for himself in his own right. In the 2016 season, he had 537 receiving yards on 28 receptions, 353 rushing yards, one interception and seven touchdowns in seven games. He also participated in the 2016 and 2017 CFC Fox 40 Prospect Challenges. In 2016, he was named as a top sophomore performer for Team Central. He was also the game’s overall MVP. The following year, he repeated as the FPC’s overall game MVP in the varsity showdown and was recognized as one of the game’s top performers.

The 6’2, 170lbs athlete was the OVFL’s receiving leader in the regular season with the Toronto Thunder. He is also a three-time OVFL all-star. He has participated in the Nike Open (2017) where he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.85 seconds and completed the shuttle in 4.32 seconds. He was a member of the the Detroit Midwest Elite 7v7 All-Tournament team and the Chicago ‘Best of the Midwest’ Showcase team (2017). He was one of two Canadians on the team.

Along with the Thunder, Smith played with the Bill Crothers Colts (YRAA), the Markham Raiders (OVFL) and the IDFFL. He calls Richmond Hill, Ontario, home.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
