Lots of children moan about having to walk to school, but for little Taliesin Campbell being able to do it made it “the best day of his life”.

The six-year-old, who has cerebral palsy, was determined to make the walk from his home to Creigiau Primary School, Cardiff, for the very first time to raise money for Children In Need.

And with support from friends, family and teachers along the way, that is exactly what he did, WalesOnline reported.

Mum Claire said: “It was absolutely amazing. He totally stormed it and we had so much support along the route.

"It was a real boost for him and he was in his element.”

Three years ago Taliesin had major pioneering back surgery in America after his parents, Jon and Claire, raised the £40,000 need for the operation and set up a charity called The Taliesin Campbell Good Feet Fund.

And Taliesin has been determined every since.

As mum Claire explains: “I asked him if he would rather do the walk for other children with cerebral palsy, but he said he wanted to do it for Children in Need to help the other children who were not as lucky as him. He was very determined to do it.”
