New Jersey gains 4,700 private-sector jobs in October, ADP says

New Jersey added more than 4,700 private sector jobs in October, according to the latest report from payroll and human resources company ADP.In its latest Regional Employment Report, Roseland-based ADP said the Garden State gained 370 goods-producing jobs and 4,370 service sector jobs, for a total gain of 4,740 nonfarm positions.

The leading sectors included professional and business services, with a gain of 960 jobs; trade, transportation and utilities, with an increase of 380 jobs; and natural resources/mining and construction, with 280 jobs added.

ADP added that the figures were on par with the September data and above the 12-month average gain.

Overall, the U.S. gained 230,000 private-sector jobs in October, ADP said. The Northeast region gained 31,000 of those positions, it added, with the Middle Atlantic states gaining 26,300.
