Milwaukee-area brewery/restaurant Bavarian Bierhaus has a “free beer until the Packers” special for every Green Bay Packers gameday.

Welp, that deal certainly backfired on Sunday.

The Packers were shut out for the first time since 2006 in a 23-0 loss to the Baltimore Ravens at Lambeau Field. That meant free beer for everybody at the Bavarian Bierhaus for the entire game.

The brewery’s general manager, Scott Bell, told TMJ4 (Milwaukee NBC affiliate) that they served around 275-300 free beers during the game.

General Manager Scott Bell says around 200 people were packed into his establishment during the game, and he and his staff served between 275-300 cups of free beer. Some fans had more than others.

“Wisconsinites and Packers fans are at least somewhat responsible,” Bell said.

Before Aaron Rodgers went down with a broken collarbone in Week 6, this free beers special probably worked out quite well for the Bavarian Bierhaus. The Packers scored at least 17 points in their first five games, and scored in the first quarter of four of those games. So if there are usually around 200 people in the brewery as there were on Sunday, one quarter of free beers will be outweighed by the drinks and food those people end up paying for the rest of the day.

Of course, maybe it was just jam-packed on Sunday with smart people knowing that they could probably drink free for a while with Brett Hundley starting at quarterback. And these people will be happy to know that the Bavarian Bierhaus plans to continue the free beers deal.

Bell has no intentions of discontinuing the promotion, saying he believes the green and gold will get things rolling.

Hundley and the Packers play the 8-2 Steelers in Pittsburgh on Sunday Night Football this week, so there should be much more free beer to be had at the Bavarian Bierhaus. Then again, they’re getting plenty of free publicity for the deal, and that may make up for the potentially thousands of free beers they will give away while Rodgers is out.
