Westborough – Westborough veterans and their guests were honored for their service and served a hearty meal at the Senior Center’s annual lunch Nov. 10.
Veterans who served in most military branches and many of the country’s wars were in attendance along with local officials, including State Rep. Danielle Gregoire (D-Marlborough), Board of Selectmen Chair George Barrette, Police Chief Alan Gordon and Fire Chief Nick Perron.
The lunch was kicked off by the Presentation of the Colors by Westborough VFW Post 9013, the Pledge of Allegiance, the national anthem and an invocation by Fr. James Boland of St. Luke the Evangelist Church.
Lunch was provided by Central One Federal Credit Union.
Following lunch, veterans were recognized by branch and the war or conflict in which they served. For the first time, no veterans from World War I were in attendance.
The guest speaker was Jason Palitsch, government and public affairs specialist at Veterans, Inc., who gave a brief history of Veteran’s Day and paid tribute to the local veterans.
