Is the world ready for a taco emoji?

Before 2015, if human beings wanted to send a taco to someone via text, they were forced to type out T-A-C-O like dang fools. Our belabored imaginations were supposed to fill in the rest, and forever ponder what such a delicious eating vessel could look like. BUT NO MORE. Because The Unicode Consortium may be releasing a taco emoji next year. ALL HAIL THE UNICODE CONSORTIUM!

In a blog post from last week, the emoji-coding group revealed that it's considering developing 37 new emojis for release in the Unicode 8.0 package, of which the taco is an obvious standout. However, other food-related possibilities include: "HOT DOG", "BURRITO", "BOTTLE WITH POPPING CORK", "POPCORN", "TURKEY", and "CHEESE WEDGE". Kale, however, is mysteriously absent.

The mock-up taco emoji appears to be of the hard-shelled (or "crunchy") variety. No word yet on whether it will contain guacamole.
