Northeast Johnson County Chamber Salutes Several Small Businesses

Several small businesses were among the honorees at the 2014 Northeast Johnson County Chamber of Commerce Gala on Saturday night.

The Small Business of the Year Award was shared by two businesses:

  • The Barn Players in Mission // The Barn Players community theater has entertained audiences since 1955. Its acting alumni include several performers who have gone on to fame in Hollywood, such as Academy Award winner Chris Cooper (“Adaptation”), Arliss Howard (“Full Metal Jacket”) and Lynn Cohen (“Hunger Games: Catching Fire”).
  • Speedpro Imaging Shawnee // Speedpro Imaging Shawnee can print just about anything: banners, posters, vehicle wraps, decals, floor mats and more.

The New Small Business of the Year Award went to Twisted Sisters Coffee Shop in Mission. Twisted Sisters describes itself on Facebook as “a friendly comfortable place to come sit and enjoy a great cup of coffee.” Patrons also partake of Tower Bakery pastries and C Jacks Quiche, along with other breakfast and lunch items.

The Volunteer of the Year Award was given to Jose Ramirez, owner of Moss Printing in Mission and in Merriam. Moss Printing’s array of services range from digital printing to logo and web design.

Other honorees included Tom Robinson of Kansas City Power & Light, who was named Ambassador of the Year. Shawnee Mission Health was the Corporate Business of the Year.

It was also announced at the gala that Cathy Casey of Casey’s Auto Repair in Mission would join the Northeast Johnson County Chamber’s board of directors for 2015.
